eBay folding Valet, Fashion and Motors apps into its main client for iPhone and iPad

eBay for Apple Watch

eBay’s bidding application for the iPhone and iPad is about to get a whole lot better as the e-commerce service announced plans to streamline its App Store offering.

As part of the restructuring effort, eBay will shutter its Valet, Fashion and Motors apps and fold some of their functionality into the main iPhone and iPad client, available free of charge in the App Store.

The idea here is to bring the best of eBay’s features and functionality together in one easy place for customers. The streamlining effort should make it easier to navigate the more than 800 million items offered on sale on the service.

As mentioned above, several of eBay’s special-purpose apps on the App Store will be discontinued soon and their key functionality integrated into the core eBay app.

In addition, the following apps will be retired soon:

  • The eBay Valet app will be shutting down in the coming weeks, and sellers can still get the same great service at ebay.com/valet or use the selling tools within the core eBay apps.
  • The eBay Fashion app will be decommissioned in the coming weeks;
  • The eBay Motors app will be decommissioned later this year, and we aim to bring the rest of the best of the Motors app magic to the core eBay apps through this transition.

That’s not all.

As of today, the eBay Now service in the United States along with the local Brooklyn pilot program has been discontinued. The eBay Now mobile app was discontinued last year.

The company will continue to pursue pick-up/drop-off programs as well as pilot its scheduled delivery initiative in the United Kingdom.

eBay’s iPad app received a substantial makeover last December, bringing exclusive deals on Apple accessories as well as Fashion, Electronics, Motors, Deals and other shopping verticals to the bidding experience.

Download eBay for iPhone and iPad at no cost in the App Store.

Both editions require iOS 7.0 or later and the iPhone app includes a nicely done WatchKit component for your wrist, as shown top of post.
