Most people’s biggest gripe with the photo sharing site Instagram is that they can’t upload photos directly from their Macs. There are a few workarounds for this, but most of them are intrusive, labor intensive, and far from user friendly. The aptly titled Uploader for Instagram seeks to simplify this process so that anyone can easily post from whatever device they choose.

Uploader for Instagram Usage

Uploader for Instagram is sleek and intuitive. Once downloaded, it seamlessly integrates into your Mac’s status bar. Uploading a picture is extremely easy. All you need to do is right click on any photo and then hit “share to Instagram.” Once you’ve done that, you can select from any of the 47 in app effects before finally confirming the upload. All of the familiar Instagram touches are there. You can set sepia tones and even manufacture vintage black and white photos. Uploader for Instagram also has a bevy of unique filters to choose from, including variations of all your Instagram favorites. Uploader even allows you to utilize the iSight camera to take and upload photos.

It is important to note that Uploader for Instagram exists in direct opposition to the wishes of Instagram’s dev team, and in turn, Facebook. Though Uploader’s developer, Anobot, is confident that these companies will be unable to discern which photos are coming from this app as opposed to the official channels, there is always a small possibility that Facebook and Instagram may eventually block Uploader’s access. For heavy Instagram users, though, I think Uploader for Instagram is worth the risk. It is by far the best looking and easiest way to post photos directly from your workstation.
