Netflix working on Dolby Digital 5.1 fix for Apple TV

Apple TV Netflix Error 112

Folks experiencing problems with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound in the Netflix app on Apple TV will be happy to hear that the streaming video giant is aware of the audio issue, and is currently working on fix.

The bug, 9to5Mac reports, stems from the Apple TV 6.1 update seeded in March. Following the release, a number of users with 5.1-capable systems reported they could only get stereo output from the Netflix app…

Here’s more from the 9to5Mac post:

We’ve reached out to Netflix several times since the release of the Apple TV update and this morning the company acknowledged it’s aware of the problem and working to roll out a fix: “We are aware of the issue and are working to deploy a fix.”

It’s not providing any additional info or an ETA on when you can expect the fix, but at least you now have confirmation a fix is finally on the way three months after initial reports.

Apple released Apple TV 6.1 alongside iOS 7.1 on March 10, with just a handful of new features including the ability to quickly hide apps and a new AirPlay option. We’ll let you know when the Netflix audio fix hits.
