TouchPad 4.0 for iOS Released, Use Siri Dictation to Send Text to Your Mac

Edovia has announced the next major version of its popular remote iOS app, TouchPad. We've told you about TouchPad before, and this newest update brings many more features to what was already one of the best remote keyboard and trackpad apps in the App Store.

TouchPad lets you control your Mac from your iPhone and iPad. This 4.0 update brings with it the ability to use Siri on the iPhone 4S to interact with and send text to your Mac over a Wi-Fi network.

How to Remove the Store Button in the Music App

Apple is really trying to push iTunes music purchases on its customers; evident by the "Store" button located in the upper left-hand corner of the Music app.

I've used iTunes before, but the times I do use it are generally few and far between. This means that the Store button located in the Music app is more of a nuisance than a help.

If you're like me and would like to get rid of it, you should try NoStoreButton, a nifty jailbreak tweak for jailbroken iDevices...

Create Favorite Groups of Preferences With Preference Folders

Preference Folders is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that will shortly be released on Cydia. It allows you to group your favorite preferences from your Settings app into a custom folder that you create.

What's cool about Preference Folders is that it allows you to mix and match both stock iOS preferences and jailbreak tweak and app preferences. This grants the ability to place your most used items into a custom folder located directly in your Settings app.

“Change Package Settings” – An Overlooked Feature in Cydia

Have you ever uninstalled a tweak from Cydia, but still found yourself interested in any updates it might receive in the future? Perhaps it's a tweak that has potential, but it's just not finished baking yet.

By default, Cydia does not announce changes for a package that isn't installed on your device. That's a good thing, because it prevents you from being harassed by tweaks and apps that you have no interest in.

If you've found yourself in that scenario, the best thing you can do is to enable a little talked about option that announces updates to a package, regardless of whether or not you have it installed...

Apple Was Fifth Most-Visited Store on Black Friday

Apple has found itself in the top 5 most-visited online stores in the United States for the first time, according to data compiled by comScore for Black Friday. Sitting pretty in fifth place, Apple is the highest ranking product brand in the list, almost overtaking Target in the fourth spot.

The impressive results come as Apple is also experiencing fantastic sales in its brick and mortar stores, with the Black Friday sales apparently breaking forecasts left and right...

Get Haptic Feedback on the iPad with the TouchFire Keyboard

Those with good memories, or at least those that can remember back to January of 2010, will probably remember the intense debate that raged around the original iPad. While many decided that it was purely a content consumption device, others argued that the on-screen keyboard's generous size would make it a device that could be used to create content, too.

Fast forward to today, halfway through the iPad 2's life cycle, and we're not really any wiser as to how useful the iPad is as a content creation device. Most of our misgivings come down to that software keyboard and its inability to offer any long term writing usefulness.

Part of the problem is the complete lack of haptic feedback, and as if by magic, one Kickstarter project is aiming to put that problem right.

iOS 5.1 Outs New iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV Models

Earlier today, Apple released the iOS 5.1 beta. As usual, hackers got right to work dissecting the software to see if there were any secrets hidden within its source code. Previous code-digging has uncovered features, like FaceTime over 3G.

This time around, hackers seem to have stumbled on more than just unreleased features. 9to5Mac is reporting that the new iOS 5.1 beta contains information regarding multiple new Apple products, including the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV...

Unlimited Tethering App Surfaces in the App Store

We're not sure who dropped the ball on this one, but 9to5Mac is reporting that Apple has admitted a tethering application into its App Store. The $14.99 software promises unlimited (wired) tethering from your iPhone to your PC or Mac.

As most of you know, carriers typically charge a premium for smartphone tethering. And very few (if any) of them nowadays offer all-you-can eat plans. Given that knowledge, you can see why it's a bit strange that Apple approved iTether...

Siri Controls an Entire Room Using the Power of Voice

We're just going to right come out and say it: we're pretty much in love with SiriProxy, and we're not ashamed to admit it.

Created by Pete "Plamoni" Lamonica, SiriProxy lets Siri interact with pretty much anything on a network, and people have done some pretty awesome things with it, ranging from opening car doors to launching apps on a Mac.

As is so often the case with such hacks, the clever people of the internet have not stopped with new ways of using SiriProxy, and a new video just popped up on our radar that we think you'll like, especially if you've ever been a fan of Star Trek...

iOS 5.1 Beta Will Expire on January 14th

A word of caution to those of you who will be downloading and installing the new iOS 5.1 beta that Apple seeded earlier today.

According to jailbreak hacker iH8Sn0w, iOS 5.1 beta will expire on January 14th, 2012 at 8PM EST. This means that you have to update to a newer beta version or the official firmware before that time, or else your device will be unusable until you restore...

Apple Seeds iOS 5.1 Beta to Developers

Apple has just seeded the iOS 5.1 beta to developers a little over a month after releasing iOS 5. As most of you are aware, the software was crippled right out of the gate with a number of issues, including poor battery performance and Wi-Fi problems.

Two weeks ago, Apple finally released iOS 5.0.1 to the public after multiple developer betas. The new software was supposed to patch the battery bug, but the company later admitted that it didn't completely resolve the issue. Will iOS 5.1 finally fix these flaws?
