TheftAlarm Jailbreak Tweak Keeps Your iPhone Safe When Charging

As the fourth installment, by Filippo Bigarella, for TweakWeek, TheftAlarm takes an interesting approach to keeping your iPhone safe from thievery.

Instead of relying on a service like Find My iPhone from Apple to track down your iPhone once it's stolen, TheftAlarm aims at making sure your iPhone never leaves the building in the first place. When your iPhone is unattached from a sync/charge USB cable, TheftAlarm will blare a warning noise that your device has been unplugged...

EA Sports Demo Hints at Future of iOS Gaming

First with the iPhone, and then with the iPod touch and iPad, Apple has delivered hit after hit in the handheld gaming market. But can iDevices continue their domination in the face of new competition, like the Sony Vita?

While no new Apple hardware was unveiled last week, iOS software announcements garnered massive media attention. (And I'm not just talking about WWDC.) iOS software was quite a hit at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) as well...

SpringPrefs: System Stats in Your iOS 5 Notification Center

It's crazy to think that within a week of Apple releasing the first beta version of iOS 5, members of the jailbreak community have already hacked the new software and developed several version-specific tweaks.

The main area of focus for jailbreak developers appears to be iOS 5's new Notification Center pull-down menu, since it provides the perfect place to present custom widgets. SpringPrefs is the latest custom widget to surface, and it provides access to all of your iPhone's system stats at a glance...

Nokia Wins Apple Patent Dispute, Apple is Now a Nokia Licensee

This particular court battle between Nokia and Apple has been a doozy. Nokia originally filed suit against the Cupertino company back in 2010, citing their use of data transmission and certain antenna technologies as patent infringement.

Earlier this year, an ITC judge ruled in favor of Apple, claiming that he saw no evidence of infringement in their products. Just days after the court's decision, Nokia launched a 2nd lawsuit against the iPhone makers which appears to have been much more successful...

The Steve Jobs Comic Book – Coming To A Store Near You This August

It seems we just can't get enough of Apple CEO and co-founder, Steve Jobs. With an authorized biography - titled iSteve: The Book of Jobs - due for release early next year, it seems one comic book company thought the book might not have enough pictures in it, so they're making their own.

'Steve Jobs: Co-founder of Apple' will chronicle the life and business dealings of the world's most iconic CEO in comic book form, with the book being the latest in a series which covered the likes of Sarah Palin and Mark Zuckerberg....

iCloud Going to Get Its Own Web Apps After All?

Since Apple announced iCloud, the much-needed replacement for its ailing MobileMe service, at WWDC last week, there has been much debate as to whether the latter's impressive web-apps would make the transition to the new platform. Apple's Steve Jobs made no mention of the web interface for iCloud, with MobileMe sporting HTML versions of OS X's Mail, Calendar and Address Book apps. Were they being dumped?

Former Engadget front-man and all-round tech celebrity, Joshua Topolsky, reported that the web interface was indeed being scrapped, citing Apple's PR as the source of the information....

3D Screen Crammed Into an iPad?

3D is one of those technologies that really seems to polarise people. Some people swear by the latest technology and point to the huge success seen at the box office with Avatar and say that it's finally come of age. Others will say that 3D is just another gimmick thought up by hardware manufacturers to sell TVs now that everyone has bought a HD set.

3D is proving to be the big new thing in mobile devices whether we want it to or not, with various Android tablets and smartphone devices sporting 3D capability. Even Nintendo is in on the action with its 3DS handheld gaming device, but as yet Apple isn't in the 3D market.

Of course, that hasn't stopped anyone else from taking Apple's hardware and shoehorning 3D technology into it...

10 Passcodes You Should NOT Use on Your iPhone

Daniel Amitay, the developer of the Big Brother Camera Security app, ran an interesting survey of his application's users. He added some code to anonymously record passcodes of iPhone owners who use his application.

With this little test, Amitay was able to record 204,508 passcodes from as many devices, giving him the opportunity to find out what the most used passcodes are. If you are using any of these passcodes, you might want to change this right away in order to increase the safety of the information on your device...
