GreenPois0n’s Big Surprise is Custom Animated Boot Logos

A few days ago we reported about a "big surprise" to come in the next version of GreenPois0n. At the time, we speculated it could be a baseband downgrade that would allow for an easier unlock.

The surprise was revealed today by JayWalker, who is apparently helping out the Chronic Dev Team with GreenPois0n. I hope you didn't have your hopes too high up there because you're going to be disappointed as JayWalker confirmed that the surprise is custom animated boot logos...

New Feature in iOS 4.3: Canceling App Downloads

Apple recently seeded the newest iOS 4.3 beta to developers. We showed you a preview of the multitouch gestures that Apple is working on for iOS 4.3, but there haven't been many more features uncovered.

However, a new and nifty feature in iOS 4.3 has been unearthed by AppAdvice. In iOS 4.3, you will finally have the ability to cancel an app from downloading and installing. As of right now, you can only delete an app from your iPhone's home screen once it has fully downloaded and installed....

Apple Clamping Down On In-App Purchases

Apple is making the move to have more control over App Store apps that utilize "in-app" purchases. The Sony Reader app was recently declined from App Store approval due to Apple's new stance on in-app transactions.

Until now, developers were able to sell content with in-app purchases through their own payment infrastructure. Apple has now made the stance that all in-app purchases must go through the Apple payment system, which in turn would give Apple a 30% cut off the top of sales.

This marks a shift from Apple's previous claim to want a more collaborative relationship with content producers who want to manage in-app purchases through their own backend...

What’s this little arrow showing up in my iPhone Status Bar?

Yesterday I got an email from my cousin Jeremy asking me what the little arrow showing up in his iPhone status bar was. Jeremy is not the most knowledgeable guy about the iPhone so I figured that if he didn't know what this arrow is, maybe other people would want to find it as well.

The little arrow sometimes showing up indication that Location Services on your iPhone are currently active. According to Apple, "Location Services allows applications such as Maps, Camera, and Compass to use information from cellular, Wi-Fi, and Global Positioning System (GPS) networks to determine your approximate location. This information is collected anonymously and in a form that does not personally identify you."

AT&T to Offer an Extra 2GB Free to Tethering Customers

If the fact that AT&T revamping its text messaging plans and that they recently slapped Verizon in the face isn't an indication that the war for the iPhone between USA's 2 biggest carriers is on, then maybe this piece of news will make you think otherwise.

In a not-so-surprising move, AT&T announced today via a press release that they will be offering 2GB of data transfer for free to any of their tethering customers. Up until now, the $20/month tethering plan from AT&T didn't include any additional data, meaning that you were basically tapping into your data plan allocation to cover your tethering needs...

Best Buy Will Have the Verizon iPhone at Launch

There had been rumors within the past few weeks that Best Buy would carry the Verizon iPhone 4 on its launch on February 10, but up until now, these were just wild speculations. Speculation: Apple Working On LTE for the iPhone

Could Apple possibly be working on implementing LTE technology into the next iPhone? LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a new wireless data technology that is supposed to offer higher peak throughputs and better data performance. Following 3G, LTE is the next stage in the evolution of wireless data technologies.

A new Apple job posting hints that the company is looking to implement LTE into their iOS platform. While LTE knowledge has been part of other Apple job requirements, this specific job listing is the first time that LTE has been called a "specific duty."

This job listing is not necessarily empirical proof that Apple will implement LTE in the near future, but it's definitely a strong indication of Apple's roadmap for iOS...

Woz Talks About the White iPhone 4

A couple of days ago, Alex wrote a post about Apple's co-founder Steve Wozniak who had gone on record saying that the white iPhone 4 would be available soon. Oops, he did it again by confirming yet again to Engadget that the white iPhone 4 will be available in a short period of time.

The video below shows Woz dropping the white bomb on Engadget TV. I love the reason why he carries two iPhones with him all the time (to solve the battery problem). It's definitely worth a watch. Woz is the kind of guy you just want to listen to for hours. That's how I feel anyway...

In Your Face, Verizon! AT&T Emails Customers About How Awesome the iPhone is on Their Network

Yeah, it's on. Let the cat fight begin! Now that Verizon is getting the iPhone, Apple is trying to downplay the differences between the 2 carriers with sweet commercials reminding us that the network doesn't matter. But because Apple is playing nice doesn't mean the 2 carriers have to play nice.

Today AT&T sent emails to some of their customers with the subject line "Feel free to make a call while reading this email". The email goes on saying that "only AT&T's network lets you talk and surf the web at the same time on your iPhone"...
