Epic Cheese Dock for iPhone

Say what? An iPhone dock made of cheese? Yes sir, you read that right. This is without a doubt the weirdest most original iPhone accessory I've ever seen, even though it's a little cheesy (haha, excuse me but I couldn't help it).

It is the second year that Ally Fontaine, the brilliant mind behind this cheese dock for iPhone, comes up with this accessory for Christmas. She explains...

iPhone 4 Unlock Available in A Month?

Last month the Dev Team released an update to their UltraSn0w tool which allowed to unlock the iPhone 3G and 3GS loaded with the latest iOS 4.2.1. The iPhone 4 was left out of the equation and unless you're still on baseband 01.59.00, you can't unlock this device yet.

Today, some good news was uncovered about an unlock for the iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.1 baseband 02.10.04 in a tweet sent out by Sherif Hashim. The iPhone hacker confirmed that an unlock for 02.10.04 will be available, most likely before January 16th...

Your iPhone Apps Know A Lot About You

The Wall Street Journal has shared the results of an eye-opening investigation on how apps share personal data. Since the success of the App Store, apps have become the backbone of what makes or breaks a successful, mobile device.

The Journal looked into how some apps (both iOS and Android) actually behave with your phone's information, and examined the personal data that most don't know is shared through apps. The results were a little disturbing...

Apple’s New “Spiral UI” Patent Could Replace Cover Flow

Apple recently patented a new, spiral-based, graphical UI. Details on the patent reveal that the new "Spiral" interface is most likely intended to replace Cover Flow, an already existing interface in OS X and iOS. The design of the interface looks like it will work well with both standard and multi-touch displays, and will most likely be included in OS X Lion next summer.

The goal of this new interface is to display more information than was previously possible in a limited space. Like everything Apple does, another goal is to also make it as visually and aesthetically appealing as possible to the end user...

WikiLeaks Has Its Own iPhone App

WikiLeaks, the globally recognized brainchild of Julian Assange, has its own unofficial iPhone app.  This unofficial app was recently approved by Apple and released in the App Store.

The app's official description reads, "The Wikileaks app gives instant access to the world’s most documented leakage of top secret memos and other confidential government documents." You can now have all of the sensitive WikiLeaks data easily available on your iPhone...

MuscleNerd Confirms Untethered Jailbreak to Ship Before Christmas

Earlier this month, iPhone hacker Comex mentioned on Twitter that an untethered jailbreak would be available before Christmas. It's been over a week now and we hadn't had any status update until MuscleNerd confirmed the release of an untethered jailbreak to be released before Christmas.

Minutes after tweeting the above info, MuscleNerd deleted this tweet, which is nowhere to be found now. So why did he do this?

MakTorch Aims to Ignite Your iPhone Nightlife

Another day, another flashlight app. It's just the life of being an iPhone blogger. This time around the flashlight in question is called MakTorch, an app available for free on Cydia for jailbroken iPhones.

So, what distinguishes MakTorch from the rest of the playing field, besides its hilarious banner ads?

Most of the flashlights on Cydia are jailbreak tweaks, but MakTorch is a full-fledged app. This means that it features an app icon on your Home screen that is used to invoke the app...

Plugged In is the Perfect Tweak For Turning Your iPhone Into a Full-fledged Alarm Clock

I know I'm not the only one that has tossed their dedicated alarm clock into the trash ever since the iPhone came out. Wouldn't it be nice if you could plug your iPhone in, and your alarm clock app of preference automatically launched?

That's the premise behind Plugged In, a jailbreak tweak that launches any app of your choice as soon as you plug it in. It's obvious that Plugged In was designed with an alarm clock in mind, if not simply for the fact that I can't think of much else that I would use it for...

iPhone App Review: Zombie Attack! Second Wave XL

Zombie Attack! Second Wave XL was created by IUGO Mobile Entertainment. They developed some decent games such as a physics puzzler called Implode! XL and a simple little survival game called Cliffed XL.

Their quality and know-how for games is not too shabby, so I expected the same from Zombie Attack! Bridge Defense XL. To save myself from agony of such a long name, I will now refer to it as simply, ZA.

ZA is a free roaming Tower Defense game in which you must defend against hordes of Zombies. If anybody has ever played the Xbox360 game called Left 4 Dead (which I loved!), you could consider it as the Tower Defense iPhone Version of that game, and I say that loosely...

The iPhone Shows Us the Future of Translation

The global economy, and our subsequent interaction with various peoples from various backgrounds is making it more and more important to at least become familiar with another language. Technology has surely helped in this regard, with electronic translators, online babble fish, and even smartphone apps.

The way we use this technology hasn't change much over the years, as it still relies heavily upon text input of some sort. But that is beginning to change with apps like Pleco and Word Lens bringing cameras into the equation. Ladies and gentlemen, the world of translation has just taken a gigantic step toward the future...

My Love Letter to PkgBackup

PkgBackup is one of the more expensive jailbreak apps that you will find on the Cydia, but you'd be hard pressed to find a developer that's put as much continuous work into their app.

The backup solution has been on the receiving end of quite a few updates recently, so I thought it would be appropriate to visit some of PkgBackup's most convenient features.

One of those features is the wonderful DropBox integration, which is so good it inspired me to write this love letter...
