Wow! This App Lets You Identify Planes in the Sky

There are a few apps that I like to use to show people what the iPhone can do. Star Walk has always been my favorite show off app but it seems that it's going to be dethroned by Plane Finder AR.

Plane Finder AR uses the iPhone augmented reality capability of your iPhone to show you information about planes flying around you. Simply point your iPhone at a plane flying by and you will see the flight number, aircraft registration, speed, altitude and how far away it is...

Enable Private Browsing on Your iPhone with Covert

Covert is a new jailbreak application by Chpwn that lets you enable private browsing on Safari. Let's imagine you want to browse those favorite dirty sites of yours but you don't want your girlfriend to snoop in your browser history and realize you've been watching 2 girls and a cup for the 50th time, then Covert is for you.

I certainly hope that's not what you will use Covert for, but at least you get my point. This being said, this is how to use Covert...

RIP Rock Your Phone

About 2 weeks ago we told you that Rock Your Phone had been acquired by Cydia. While I wasn't very excited about it, there was nothing I could do but wait to see Rock die slowly.

And the day has come. Today Rock Your Phone is dead. I just updated Rock via Cydia and all I can see now when launching the app is this...

Police Interview Steve Jobs About Stolen iPhone

This is one of my favorite conspiracy theories. Back in March, Apple reported that an employee of theirs was drinking in the bar and lost the most recent prototype of what would be the iPhone 4. Talk about a buzz kill. Or was it?

I maintained that Apple purposely dropped the device to generate months of buzz leading up to the phone being released. That's exactly what ended up happening. Now CNET reports that the police connected to the case have interviewed numerous Apple employees, including Steve Jobs...

Apple Launches Games Site

If you weren't sure whether Apple thought gaming was a good market to target or not, I'm sure this will change your mind as the company recently added a Games Section to their website, which you can see it at www.apple.com/games.

The website doesn't only cover iPhone and iPad games. It also features many games for everything Mac...

Must Have iPad Accessory: the iArm

Here is a must-have accessory for every iPad owner out there: the iArm.

Delta Technology presents the iArm, the forearm mount that gives you, well, an extra arm.  Just 4.5 lbs and fully adjustable, the iArm lets you take your favorite gadget with you.  And with the optional "multi-mount", you can secure up to three items at once.  Attaches to tablet PCs, eReaders, remotes & more!

Yes, this is obviously a fake... but real. You can get the iArm box for $8. A great idea to fool a friend.

pod2g Leaves the Chronic Dev Team. Is Greenpois0n Endangered?

pod2g, the guy who discovered the SHAtter exploit that will hopefully allow the GreenPois0n jailbreak to come to life, just announced he is leaving the Chronic Dev Team.

In a series of tweets, pod2g explained that he's not working with the Chronic Dev Team anymore and that he will now be working independently. The question that comes to mind when reading this is: will the developement of GreenPois0n be affected?

Create Folders Inside Folders on Your iPhone with FoldersInFolders

It was only a matter of time until such an app showed up in Cydia. Actually, I'm surprised it hadn't been done before. FoldersInFolders is a new jailbreak app that allows you to create folders inside folders on your iPhone.

iOS came with this beautifully implemented Folders feature but unfortunately, it doesn't allow you to add folders inside other folders. This tweak will do the job for you. Video and more info below...

So Much For Meeting the Global iPhone Demand

I remember hearing not too long ago that iPhone maker Foxconn was bragging up their ability to pump out 1.5 new iPhones per second. While we knew that meant lousy surroundings for those employed there at least the demand was surely being met, right?

TUAW has a report that highlights Apple's inability to meet the pre-order demand from the Taiwanese people. Over 200,000 people tried grabbing the new iPhone 4 through pre-order but carriers fear just 1/4 of those will be filled by the years end. That could mean for a lot of angry early adopters...

App For Songwriters Comes to the iPhone

The days of being a songwriter have undoubtedly changed over time. The times of hunching over a ripped up piece of notebook paper while you ferociously scribble out and add material have come and gone for the most part.

Nowadays many writers I know use their computers for generating new material. A recent app in the App Store entitled Songwriter's Pad 1.0.1 brings music composition to the middle of your iPhone. With an already successful iPad entry, the app written by Dante Moore offers artists an opportunity to create material with a variety of tools.

Napster App Comes to the iPhone

I remember it to be about 10 years ago when a few buddies and I used to be huddled over a PC with Napster open. Wasting hours for low quality pirated music never felt so cool.

9 to 5 Mac reports that  you can recapture some of the nostalgic vibe above by adding the Napster application to your iPhone. Once held as the top source for downloading music, Napster has watched its importance come and go since 1999 and is now gracing the virtual shelves of the App Store...
