AT&T announced that it would be acquiring Wayport Inc for $275 million. Wayport operates Wi-Fi networks in 20,000 locations in the U.S. at locations including Wyndham, Marriott Vacation Club and Four Seasons hotels and McDonald’s restaurants.
iPhone takes holds top spot in business phone survey
Apple and the iPhone have placed first in a customer satisfaction survey targeting business users of smartphones, according to J.D. Power and Associates. The survey evaluated phone makers using a thousand-point score, with devices ranked in categories of descending priority; these included “ease of operation,” “operating system,” “physical design,” “handset features” and “battery aspects.”
An elaborate iPhone scam has been running rampant in Russia. People have been pawning off fake iPhones as the real deal for cash. Scammers approach users with an elaborate fake iPhone, usually pretending to be in a big rush, asking to trade it for money to, for example, buy a train ticket.
Italian systems engineer Piergiorgio Zambrini, developer of Ziphone, one of the first, easy-to-use applications for jailbreaking and unlock the iPhone, has released a new video purportedly delivering proof that a flaw can crash any iPod and iPhone. The bug allegedly resides in in the audio portion of Apple’s video subsystem.
