Betelguese Odysseyra1n installer for checkra1n’d devices updated to v1.1 with iOS 14.5 support & more

If you were following along yesterday, a bevy of updates to jailbreak-centric software with support for iOS & iPadOS 14.5 were released. This included checkra1n, Cydia Substrate, and Substitute to name a few.

But the updates didn’t stop there. Odyssey Team Web and App Developer @23Aaron_ pushed an update for the macOS-based Betelguese Odysseyra1n installer for checkra1n’d devices, officially bringing it up to version 1.1.

Libhooker updated to v1.6.0 to fix Caller ID & Call Blocking app bug

If you’re using a jailbreak that utilizes CoolStar’s libhooker tweak injection method, be it Chimera for iOS 12, Odyssey for iOS or iPadOS 13, Taurine for iOS or iPadOS 14, or Odysseyra1n for any firmware ranging from iOS 12 to iOS or iPadOS 14, then it would be advisable to launch the Sileo package manager and refresh your sources this morning.

Upon doing so, you should take notice of an updated iteration of libhooker, which appears to have been updated to version 1.6.0.

Libhooker updated to v1.5.5 with better battery life, more hooking support, & other improvements

Anyone using the Chimera jailbreak for iOS 12, the Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13, the Taurine jailbreak for iOS 14, or the Odysseyra1n bootstrap on a checkra1n’d device will almost certainly want to launch the included Sileo package manager and refresh their sources this morning, as it appears that a new version of libhooker is now available in the form of version 1.5.5.

Libhooker is the premiere tweak injection method for the aforementioned jailbreaks, and this means that all your jailbreak tweaks and extensions depend on it to hook into system processes and make their intended magic happen.

How to use Betelguese to install Odysseyra1n on a checkra1n’d device

A brand-new one-click application for macOS called Betelguese by @23Aaron_ and @hbkirb is now available that lets checkra1n’d iPhone and iPad users install Odysseyra1n on their handset via the convenience of a graphical user interface (GUI) as opposed to pasting lengthy and complicated commands into a traditional command line interface (CLI).

When Betelguese is complete, your checkra1n jailbreak transforms into Odysseyra1n, which means that it will utilize the Procursus bootstrap with Sileo as the default package manager and libhooker as the tweak injection method. These will replace Cydia and Cydia Substrate or Substitute for tweak injection — the process that handles your jailbreak tweaks — whichever of the latter you might’ve had installed at the time.

Betelguese is a macOS-based one-click Odysseyra1n installer utility

Odysseyra1n is a custom Procursus-based bootstrap for checkra1n devices that installs Sileo for package management and libhooker for tweak injection. Previously, Odysseyra1n needed to be installed via Terminal with a command line interface. But that changes starting today with the release of Betelguese.

Betelguese is, in essence, a macOS-supported one-click Odysseyra1n installer for all iPhones and iPads running iOS or iPadOS 12, 13, or 14 that have already been jailbroken with checkra1n.

How to install Odysseyra1n on a checkra1n device

By default, the checkra1n jailbreak installs Cydia as the defacto package manager, and Cydia Substrate or Substitute can be used for tweak injection. But if you’re accustomed to the Chimera or Odyssey jailbreaks, then you might prefer to use Sileo for package management and libhooker for tweak injection instead, yet checkra1n’s jailbreak method offers many benefits over relying on certificates or signed apps.

If you’re wondering whether it’s possible to install Sileo and libhooker on your checkra1n device, then the astounding answer would be yes! A script called Odysseyra1n installs the entire bootstrap on your checkra1n device, allowing you to have an Odyssey-like experience on your checkra1n jailbreak.

CoolStar updates libhooker Configurator to v1.1.0 with crash fixes, other improvements

In case you missed it, CoolStar released a brand-new libhooker Configurator app last week so that users of the Odyssey and Odysseyra1n jailbreaks could have more granular control over their libhooker tweak injector.

In addition to letting users toggle libhooker on or off on the fly, libhooker Configurator also permitted individualized tweak toggling, disabling tweak injection for Web Pages, and individually configuring tweak injection for apps, SpringBoard, and even Daemon processes.

New libhooker Configurator app updated to v1.0.1 with bug fixes, goes open source

Hot on the heels of an exciting new libhooker update for the Odyssey jailbreak and the subset of checkra1n devices utilizing Odysseyra1n, lead developer CoolStar is out with yet another important update that users won’t want to miss.

The latest update isn’t for libhooker per se, but rather for the brand new libhooker Configurator companion app, which grants users with powerful granular control over how and when libhooker loads its tweak injection methods on a particular device.

CoolStar updates libhooker to v1.4.0 with new configurator app

Jailbreakers taking advantage of the iOS 13-centric Odyssey tool or the checkra1n-based Odysseyra1n bootstrap on iOS 13 or 14 will almost certainly want to launch Sileo and refresh their sources.

In a message bulletin shared to the official Sileo / Odyssey / Chimera Discord channel early Tuesday morning, CoolStar announced the release of libhooker version 1.4.0 with a host of notable improvements for users using either of the aforementioned jailbreaks.

Chimera jailbreak updated to v1.5.1 with more bug fixes and improvements

If you’ve been paying attention to the Odyssey Team’s Discord channel or Twitter page recently, then you’ve likely witnessed the sudden priority shift to the iOS 12-centric Chimera jailbreak – a notable departure from the team’s typical precedence, the iOS & iPadOS 13-centric Odyssey jailbreak.

The sudden attention to Chimera is no coincidence, as Chimera Team lead developer CoolStar had long envisioned back-porting the Odyssey Team’s successes with the Procursus bootstrap and libhooker tweak injection to Chimera. The team officially made it happen with Chimera v1.5 this week, and they’re out with yet another update this Wednesday evening in the form of Chimera v1.5.1:

Sileo and Zebra package managers each get updates with improved iOS 14 support

Checkra1n is the only public jailbreak tool capable of pwning iOS & iPadOS 14 at the time of this writing, and regardless of whether you use it as it comes or you use the Odyssey Team’s Odysseyra1n bootstrap, a few notable package manager updates are now available as of Wednesday evening that you probably won’t want to miss, assuming they apply to you.

No, the aforementioned updates aren’t for the pre-installed Cydia package manager, but instead for competing package managers that have gained a lot of traction in the past couple of years. We’re talking of course about Zebra, a popular Cydia alternative that can be installed with the native checkra1n bootstrap, and Sileo, the default package manager that comes pre-installed with the Odysseyra1n bootstrap.
