AquaBoard for iOS 8 brings OpenGL-based water effects to your SpringBoard

It seems like every few months, Elias Limneos steps up to the plate to bring us something awesome. Even during a "jailbreak drought", such as the one we're currently experiencing, Limneos doesn't hesitate to put out a great release.

AquaBoard for iOS 8 is the latest such release, and it is a follow up to previous versions of AquaBoard for iOS 5, iOS 6 and iOS 7. Needless to say, AquaBoard has been around for quite some time, and now, even first time jailbreakers get to taste (or is that drink?) the goodness that is AquaBoard.

SetBack is a great way to revert to a preferred Home screen layout

One of the reasons why I've never been heavily into theme reviews is because of the time it takes to set up the theme and revert my Home screen configuration after testing. Many themes only support certain apps and app icons, hence, it requires a lot of app icon rearranging to aptly show off the theme in question.

I can't remember where I read the comment, but an iDB commenter mentioned SetBack as a possible solution to my problems. It claims to allow you to restore your SpringBoard layout with ease. Yesterday, I tried SetBack for the first time, and he was right, it is the solution that I needed, and you might like it too.

How to disable SpringBoard rotation on the iPhone 6 Plus

One of the big advantages of the iPhone 6 Plus when compared to the iPhone 6 is the 6 Plus' ability to rotate into landscape mode while on the SpringBoard. Home screen rotation also works with smaller devices that use upscaling tweaks like LittleBrother or Upscale.

If you're someone who find the Home screen rotation to be annoying, then you may be interested in disabling the rotation outright. Notate is a brand new jailbreak tweak that allows you to do just that. Have a look inside for all of the details.

Apple Watch UI tweak Aeternum now available in Cydia

Aeternum, a jailbreak tweak that mimics the Apple Watch UI on iPhone is now available for download in Cydia. Developed by SpiritOfLogic, Aeternum has received Jeff's praises as he called it the best looking and best functioning Apple Watch UI-inspired tweak so far.

As highlighted in our recent preview, Aeternum comes with features you might expect from such a tweak. More specifically, it allows you to disable or enable the dock, and rearrange icons to your liking. But maybe more importantly, the tweak uses clean and smooth in and out animations when launching apps.

Springtomize 3 goes live on Cydia for iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus [video]

Finally, a reason to jailbreak for many users. Filippo Bigarella's Springtomize 3 (version 1.3) has gone live in the Cydia store as a free update ($2.99 new) for users who purchased the iOS 7 version.

Springtomize 3 brings tons of customization options to the iOS SpringBoard. Its name is literally the combination of the two words: SpringBoard + Customize = Springtomize. Head over to Cydia's BigBoss repo to download it now.

SphereView: an upcoming iOS SpringBoard launcher with a 3D feel

SphereView is one of the more unique jailbreak tweaks that I've come across as of late. It is a SpringBoard replacement for launching apps, and it incorporates a 3D spherical view to do so.

It's one of those tweaks that has to be seen in action to truly appreciate what it does and how much potential it may have. With that in mind, step inside and watch our hands-on video.

Aeternum: the best looking Apple Watch UI SpringBoard replacement for iPhone

I just got my hands on the latest jailbreak tweak to take advantage of Lucas Mendes' open source Apple Watch UI for the iPhone. It's called Aeternum, which means eternity in latin, and it's from the developer that brought us iRealSMS and iTouchSecure. In other words, it's from a quality well-known developer.

I've tried a few tweaks that build upon Mendes' code, but Aeternum is far and away the best looking and best functioning one thus far. Not only do you get the Apple Watch UI, but you get smooth animations, a dock, and the ability to rearrange app icons. It still has some ways to go, but it's very promising. Have a look at our full video walkthrough after the jump.

SixBar: enable the black and white status bar from iOS 6

SixBar is a recently released tweak for those of you who are tiring of the status bar present in iOS 7. It forces the status bar into the old-school black and white mode that was last seen in iOS 6.

SixBar is not a theme, so it doesn't require WinterBoard or any other theming utility. Once you install SixBar, you'll need to go to the Settings app to find the tweak's preferences. Inside the preferences you'll notice a lone toggle—a kill-switch—used to enable or disable the tweak. When you enable the toggle and respring, you'll see the familiar black and white status bar inspired by iOS 6...

IconLock7: prevent apps from being moved or deleted in iOS 7

IconLock7 is a free jailbreak tweak recently released on Cydia's BigBoss repo. It's a tweak that allows you to add a password to prevent apps from being moved or deleted without verification.

Unfortunately, IconLock7 has a few design flaws, most notably, the lack of password verification when establishing the initial password. Check inside as we walk through IconLock7's pluses and minuses in this hands-on video demonstration.

Theme Thursday: Enkelt Neue, Laguna 3, Zanilla and more

Welcome to the third edition of our Theme Thursday roundup, which highlights some of the best theme releases for Winterboard each week. While this column is primarily focused on iPhone and iPod touch themes, many of them are also compatible with the iPad. We also often mention some worthwhile alternatives to consider looking into. The themes featured this week are: Laguna, 3 4 All, Enkelt Neue, Zanilla 2.1 and iRa. I'm also using ClassicDock and Iconomatic throughout. Take a look…

How to access Apple’s secret internal SpringBoard settings menu on iOS 7

As predicted, the flood of new tweaks has started to pour in. The latest tweak, one called HiddenSettings7, allows users to access Apple's hidden internal SpringBoard settings menu. This menu, which contains a plethora of settings to garner fine grained control over the look and feel of your device's SpringBoard, is accessible via a shortcut found in Control Center.

We've taken the liberty to film a high level overview of HiddenSettings7 for you to enjoy. Have a look inside to see where to get the tweak and how to access a wealth of new settings.
