The original Angry Birds game goes free for the first time on iOS

It appears as if Angry Birds maker Rovio is changing strategy lately and switching away from paid downloads to free ones. Having briefly experimented with a massive 99-cent sale of its iPad titles last month and adding free, ad-supported downloads to its puzzler Amazing Alex, today the company has made the game that started it all - the original Angry Birds - free for the first time ever on Apple's mobile platform. Unlike free Angry Birds downloads on Android, this one doesn't come with in-app advertisements and Rovio also has added 15 new levels to keep you going...

The game is due for release on an Apple and Google app store near your on Thursday, March 14 and follows the Croods as they hunt and gather their way through "spectacular new landscapes as they tame fantastic and never-seen-before creatures," or so says the blurb. The above teaser highlights custom animation from DreamWorks and I've also included gameplay clip right below...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCPD3z6iWWE

Rejoice, Angry Birds fans. Just like clockwork, Rovio has updated its Angry Birds Space game with an ambiguously titled Pig Dipper episode bringing thirty new galactic-aquatic levels to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices. This episode introduces a new planet called Splash that features pigs in boats - how bizarre is that?.

Also look for strange aquatic extraterrestrial life and water-based physics allowing for some nice trick shots. The game adds power-up specific leaderboards and amuses with the stuff like inflating the pigs with Pig Puffer and creating black holes with Space Egg, to name a few. I wonder if the giant fish is the boss...

Angry Birds Seasons get 25 new wintry levels in 2012 holidays update

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tn3pgdnJNM

Angry Birds maker Rovio last weekend updated the Seasons game with 25 appropriately-themed winter holiday levels. As was the case with a similar update last holiday, each subsequent level becomes available every 24 hours, which is reliant on an internet connection as the game needs to talk to the Rovio cloud to unlock new content on a daily basis. If you do the math, the 25th level is scheduled for unlocking on the big day of December 25.

The winter-style environment features aurora borealis and includes three secret levels, a new slip and slide ice element and the usual amount of bird flinging and pigs popping. You'll also need to watch out for a special Harbin level, created in honor of the upcoming Angry Birds area in the Ice and Snow World in Harbin, China...
