Pocket gains background AirPlay streaming and multitasking

Users of the popular read-later application Pocket (formerly Read It Later) are saving more than two million videos each week and now you can enjoy all those clips on your big screen TV thanks to newly-implemented support for AirPlay background video streaming in Pocket 5.0.2.

Now available free in the App Store, Pocket 5.0.2 also fixes an issue with sharing links to Facebook and another one pertaining to the Pocket bookmarklet, which should now work correctly when installed in Google's Chrome browser...

Pocket, the popular read-later service (formerly Read It Later), has undergone a major refresh bringing a few new headline features, including one which analyzes saved articles to surface your best and most relevant content. Celebrating first anniversary, Pocket adds Send to Friend social feature

Pocket, a read-later service, in celebration of its first anniversary today pushed a new build of its iOS and Android containing a new social feature aptly named Send to Friend, in addition to push notifications and other nice-to-haves.

Formerly know as Read It Later, Pocket was App Store’s Best of 2012 app and iPad App of the Week. Send to Friend is interesting as it saves content other people share with you right in your inbox.

You can then re-visit those articles later, but also read comments along with any highlighted quotes they chose to share with you...

Readr integrates Pocket and other ‘read it later’ services into iOS

As a blogger, I use Pocket, my read-it-later app of choice, on a daily basis. Sure, Safari has its own Reading List feature. But I use Chrome quite often, and find Pocket's syncing to be much more reliable.

That said, you can understand my excitement when I got word of Readr. The recently-released jailbreak tweak integrates Pocket, and other 'read it later' services, into iOS' system-wide share sheet...

For those of you who aren't familiar with Pocket, it's essentially the reincarnation of Read It Later. The service allows you to bookmark and organize your favorite articles, videos and other web content for later viewing.

About a month ago, the Read It Later team released Pocket 4.0 for the iPhone and iPad — the first app released under the new brand. And while the client was great before, it just got a whole lot better...
