Latest RedSn0w Will Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Beta 2

MuscleNerd has spoken. The Dev Team front man has tweeted that the latest version of RedSn0w will in fact jailbreak the just-released iOS 5.0.1 beta 2.

The jailbreak is still tethered, and you'll need to point RedSn0w to the iOS 5.0/5.0.1 IPSW to perform the jailbreak for the time being...

RedSn0w Can Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Beta

Earlier today Apple released iOS 5.0.1 beta to developers which supposedly fixes a few bugs, including the battery problem we reported about last week.

Dev Team Posts Video of iPad 2 Jailbroken on iOS 5

Hot on the heels of MuscleNerd's status update on the iPhone 4S jailbreak, a short video of the iPad 2 has surfaced showing the tablet jailbroken and running Cydia on iOS 5.

No ETA has been given for the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak, but we can only assume that a jailbreak will be released for all devices at once, meaning that you'll be able to jailbreak A5 devices like the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 as well as older generation iDevices...

MuscleNerd Gives Update on iPhone 4S Jailbreak Status

Ever since Apple unveiled its latest version of the iPhone earlier this month, we've all been wondering one thing: when will it be jailbroken? And now that some of us have had the device for two weeks, we're definitely ready to start hacking.

Tweaks are being updated with iOS 5 compatibility, and new utilities are being introduced that are specific to the new software. So how long must us iPhone 4S users wait until we can access this stuff? Luckily, MuscleNerd has some info for us...

Don’t Ever Pay For a Jailbreak, Ever

Sometimes you write a post and you think, "Does this really need to be said?" In this case, it unfortunately does.

There have been recent reports that people have been scammed into paying for fake iOS 5 untethered jailbreaks. You should never, ever pay for a jailbreak... ever.

Apple Steps Up Its Game Against Jailbreaking

Apple has been battling against the jailbreak scene for nearly 4 years. Every time hackers find an exploit, Apple is right there to release a software update to patch it. But boot-level exploits, like GeoHot's Limera1n, are much harder to fix.

In fact, Limera1n continues to be used for iOS 5 jailbreaks on pre-A5 devices. So, Apple had to think outside the box with their latest mobile software update. They had to come up with something to try and slow down the hackers. And they did...

Speaking of unlocking the iPhone, MuscleNerd just confirmed that an iOS 5 compatibility update to the unlock tool will be released tomorrow, after the planned MobileSubstrate update.

Porting Siri to the iPhone 4 Will Require Piracy

Last week we broke the news that jailbreak hacker iH8sn0w was actively working on bringing Siri to iDevices like the 4G iPod touch and iPhone 4. This got a lot of people excited at the possibility of getting access to Siri's artificial intelligence without having to upgrade to the iPhone 4S.

This morning, the Dev Team's MuscleNerd sent out a tweet saying that porting Siri to the iPhone 4 or any other iDevice would most likely require piracy, something that the Dev Team has always refused to do...

Dev Team Working on Merging PwnageTool and RedSn0w Features Together

Dev Team frontman MuscleNerd made an interesting comment on Twitter today about the future of PwnageTool and RedSn0w for iOS 5.

Both jailbreak tools will be essentially merged together for an upcoming iOS 5 jailbreak. PwnageTool has been a Mac-only jailbreak tool for years that allows iPhone users to preserve their basebands. A future version of RedSn0w will let users create custom IPSW files to preserve the iPhone's baseband as well...

JailbreakMe.com is Dead

JailbreakMe, the wildly popular web-based jailbreak tool created by comex, is no more. Comex recently announced that he had been hired by Apple, and the JailbreakMe.com domain has been owned by a third party for quite some time.

MuscleNerd, frontman for the Dev Team, has warned jailbreakers to stay clear of JailbreakMe.com from now on...
