Apple's boss Tim Cook is about to take the stage at San Francisco's Moscone West an hour from now to deliver Apple's mobile and desktop strategy for the next twelve months. You're probably on the edge of your seat as we are, wondering what will get announced and whether there will be an "one more thing" moment that will blow your pants off.

MountainLionCenter now available on Cydia

MountainLionCenter — the jailbreak tweak that adds an OS X Mountain Lion inspired Notification Center panel to your iPad, was just released on Cydia's BigBoss repo as a free download.

As noted yesterday, this is a feature that's been long overdue; in my opinion, it makes Notification Center a lot less intrusive feeling on the iPad. Couple it with IntelliScreen X, and it's even better.

It should be noted, that despite my ability to get it working on my iPhone, the tweak has been released as iPad only, at least for the time being. Be sure to check out our full walkthrough of MountainLionCenter, and let me know what you think about it in the comments below.

MountainLionCenter brings OS X’s Notification Center back to iOS

Apple's initiative to bring several highly notable iOS features "back to the Mac" is one of the hallmarks of its upcoming release of OS X Mountain Lion. One of the most touted iOS features to make its way to Mountain Lion is Notification Center. Notification Center on the Mac works similar to the way it does on iOS, with a few noted differences.

One of the main differences is the location of Notification Center — on the Mac it is docked and hidden on the right-hand side of the screen. Wouldn't such change be welcomed to Notification Center on the iPad? I say this, because in its current form, it's placed square in the middle of the screen no matter the orientation. In fact, it's sort of like an afterthought.

MountainLionCenter is the upcoming jailbreak tweak that plans to change this, placing it more in line with the way Notification Center works on OS X Mountain Lion. For more details, watch our full video walkthrough inside.

How to run Absinthe 2.0 on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

It has been brought to our attention that Absinthe 2.0 doesn't work normally on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. When you click on the app icon to open it, nothing happens, and the Absinthe interface doesn't load. That's not entirely a surprise considering that Mountain Lion is still in beta, but more than a few of you have expressed troubles with the issue.

Likely, this was just an oversight by the hard working folks behind the Chronic Dev Team, and it will probably be fixed in an updated version of Absinthe. Until then, it's incredibly easy to work around this problem and run Absinthe 2.0 successfully to untether jailbreak your iOS 5.1.1 device. We show you how inside...

OS X Mountain Lion AirPlay Mirroring hands on

So I finally got some time to take OS X Mountain Lion's new AirPlay Mirroring functionality for a spin, and what I found was just what you would expect.

AirPlay Mirroring is a fairly seamless affair for Apple TV owners, and it works remarkably well — even in its current beta form.

OS X Mountain Lion borrows heavily from iOS

Today Apple took the wraps off of OS X Mountain Lion (I know, we should have saw that one coming) and continuing with the movement started with its predecessor, OS X Lion, it borrows heavily from iOS.

In fact, you could say that OS X Lion's iOS implants were rather mild compared to what Mountain Lion plans to offer. Apple is obviously serious about completely combining the best elements of iOS directly into its desktop operating system, and no where is this more evident than with Mountain Lion.

Like times past, Apple has released a video teaser outlining various components of their upcoming OS X update. You're already aware of one of them — iMessage — but what are the others?

Apple releases public iMessage beta for OS X
