A new jailbreak tweak has recently surfaced that will be of surefire interest to Pebble watch owners. The tweak is called BTNotificationEnabler, and it’s created by Conrad Kramer, the same developer behind tweaks such as Graviboard, Gesturizer, etc.
The description for BTNotificationEnabler promises that you’ll never miss a notification again. That’s thanks, largely in part to its ability to send all Notification Center notifications to a Bluetooth device. The Pebble watch, obviously, is one of the first things that comes to mind. A jailbroken iPhone running iOS 6, mated with a Pebble watch just got a whole lot more interesting. Read More
If you are an avid user of Twitter or Facebook, you likely see ‘pull to refresh’ as an essential part of the smart phone experience. So it’s surprising to see how slow Apple has been to bring the gesture to its internal apps. In iOS 6, Apple finally cued in and included their own implementation of Pull To Refresh in Mail. Unfortunately this hasn’t carried over to every one of Apple’s internet-enabled apps; Safari still lacks the feature.
We’re not against developers making money from their tweaks, or pursuing alternative routes of funding, but having a piece of nag-ware on your phone without any option to disable it is a major annoyance.
Unfold is a jailbreak tweak that we are huge fans of at iDownloadBlog, but unfortunately we learned that the tweak was programmed with an annoying behavior. After 500 uses, a message pops up asking for a donation, and the message repeats again after every 500th unlock. This wouldn’t be so bad if a donation disabled the message, but there’s no option for entering a subscription into the app…
Living up to that promise, the evad3rs just a few moments ago, released their update to evasi0n with iOS 6.1.1 support in tow. We have tested out the jailbreak for ourselves, and can confirm that the process is exactly like the previous jailbreak process, except it now works for iOS 6.1.1.
If you feel like doing so, it is now okay to go ahead an update to iOS 6.1.1, and re-jailbreak your iPhone 4S with the latest version of evasi0n. One thing that must be kept in mind, however, is that the iOS 6.1.1 update will most likely update your iPhone 4S’ baseband. So, if you’re relying on some sort of unlock like UltraSn0w, it’s advisable that you hold off for the time being. Those of you who are factory unlocked won’t have a problem.

Prior to all the kerfuffle surrounding the iOS 6 jailbreak release, we previewed a jailbreak tweak called Pages+. This tweak allows you to enable custom wallpaper backgrounds for each page on your Home screen, and it even works with Aaron Ash’s popular Barrel tweak.
Needless to say, we were pretty excited to preview Pages+, and we’re happy to report that it’s now available for download on Cydia. If you want to take it for a spin both figuratively, and literally, then head over to Cydia and download it today. Pages+ can be had for $1.99 via the ModMyi repo. Be sure to let us know what you think about it in the comments section.
Ryan Petrich, developer of numerous tweaks including FullForce for iPhone 5, has just released a new plugin for Activator and SBSettings called the Do Not Disturb Toggle.
Activating the toggle at any time enables Do Not Disturb mode in iOS 6, which silences incoming calls and notifications while your phone is locked; that is unless you’ve enabled repeated calls or calls from your Favorites list… Read More
Do you hate it when you’re trying to take a picture, you load up the Camera app, and the wrong camera is active? In photography, every moment counts and the delay in fiddling with camera modes could cost you that perfect shot.
Kamera is a Notification Center shortcut for the native Camera overlay in iOS 5 and 6, allowing you to take pictures from anywhere. What makes Kamera special is it allows you to start the overlay with either the front or rear camera active, depending on the button pressed… Read More
Zephyr is arguably one of the most popular jailbreak tweaks available on Cydia today—and for good reason. It’s easy to use, reliable, and it makes switching between applications on your iPhone a breeze.
Today, the tweak gets even better. Chpwn announced this morning that Zephyr 1.5 is now available with several bug fixes for iOS 6, and the ability to use the iPad’s four-finger gestures on your iPhone… Read More
iH8sn0w has posted a minor update to his popular jailbreak utility sn0wbreeze this weekend, bringing the software to version 2.9.9. The update comes just a few days after 2.9.8 was released, and features a handful of bug fixes.
The Windows-only app includes the new untethered evasi0n jailbreak, which the evad3rs debuted last week, and is capable of hacking all pre-A5 devices on iOS 6.1 (including the Apple TV 2). Full 2.9.9 change log after the fold… Read More
There are times when it’s useful to know exactly how much battery life you have left on your phone. But since you’re not checking it every second, the percentage meter mostly just adds clutter to the status bar.
With the new BatteryPeek tweak in Cydia, you can have the best of both worlds: the tweak will hide the percentage meter, until you actually want to know how much power you have left… Read More
Today, they’ve posted a second update to evasi0n, bringing it to version 1.2. The new update features built-in code to disable future OTA updates on your jailbroken device, and a fix for the timezone issue… Read More
When the evasi0n website went live Monday morning, I wasted no time jailbreaking my iPhone 5. I had convinced myself that I didn’t miss my tweaks very much, but as soon as I was able to, I started downloading them.
The first one I grabbed—and it’s one of only a few I have installed—is Filippo Bigarella’s Springtomize 2. It’s probably one of the most full-featured tweaks available, and it just got updated with full support for the iPhone 5… Read More
Don’t you hate it when you restore your iPhone and all the progress you’ve made getting your tweaks just right gets wiped away? There are packages on Cydia that make it easy to directly backup your tweaks, but workarounds like PKGBackup can cause issues, especially if you wind up automatically installing software that is no longer compatible with your device.
Source Saver gives you an intermediate solution with fewer risks. With the press of a button, Source Saver will backup the repos you’ve added to Cydia. This way you won’t have to manually add Ryan Petrich’s beta repository to Cydia, or dig through sites to find the address for the DosPad repo… Read More
We recently published a post about ScreenExtender, a free tweak available in Cydia that forces legacy apps to stretch to the iPhone 5’s taller screen. As we published the post, Ryan Petrich came up with his own solution to stretch older apps to take advantage of the taller iPhone 5 screen.
Similar to his iPad tweak called FullForce, FullForce for iPhone forces applications to show in full screen mode on the taller device… Read More
Today, pod2g shares even more interesting stats on the jailbreak, noting that the evasi0n website has seen more than 5 million unique visitors, and 40 million page views in the last few days. Here’s a breakdown of all of that traffic by country… Read More
One of the utilities you aren’t going to find in iTunes is a fully featured BitTorrent client. While BitTorrent doesn’t have the best reputation in mainstream media, not all torrents constitute piracy and not all piracy occurs over BitTorrent. A good BitTorrent client is handy to have, and their absence on iTunes provides savvy users with another reason to jailbreak.
iTransmission 3 isn’t just an update of the popular iOS BitTorrent client with support for iOS 6 thrown in. The jailbreak app comes complete with an improved UI, an updated backend, and exclusive compatibility with iOS 6… Read More
The developer who goes by the name of Lordscotland should call himself LordOfAwesomeTweaks. His backlog of jailbreak apps includes incredibly useful freebies like Safari Download Enabler and PDF Printer for Safari. His latest tweak is called Photo Organizer, which provides users with more control over all their photo albums including the Camera Roll.
Want to reorder photos and videos in your Camera Roll? Delete photos from your camera roll without removing them from every other album? Move photos without constantly making duplicates and wasting space? If so, Photo Organizer shows us that Apple’s default methods aren’t always best… Read More
We’ve seen tweaks in the past like FullForce which essentially transform iPhone apps into full screen iPad apps. Since Apple reassured developers that adding official support for the iPhone 5’s screen would be a snap for most apps through Xcode, we didn’t think full screen support for the left behind apps would be much of a stretch for jailbreak developers.
Remember when Jay Freeman said that Cydia wouldn’t get bogged down by the massive demand for users of the evasion jailbreak, thanks to measures like including the package catalog in Cydia? The lesson here is to never underestimate the demand for jailbreaking. At its peak, Freeman’s servers were hit with over 4 million HTTP hits per five minutes. There aren’t many independent websites that can survive that kind of spike in traffic overnight, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that downloading tweaks through the Cydia app remains an unreliable process… Read More
