Evasi0n7 1.0.8 is out with support for iOS 7.0 11A466

At some point during the past week or so, the evad3rs released an update for evasi0n7, bringing the jailbreak tool to version 1.0.8. According to the change log, the software now supports build 11A466 of iOS 7.

Apparently 11A466 is a factory build—not available for download—of the iOS 7 firmware that shipped on some of iPhone 5s and 5c units. And up until now, folks with these devices were having issues jailbreaking...

iPhone 5c outsold all Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices in winter quarter

While the iPhone 5c has failed to live up to internal expectations set by Apple, the smartphone certainly hasn't been moving off the shelves as badly as some people might think. According to an AppleInsider report by Daniel Eran Dilger, the mid-tier handset actually outsold every BlackBerry, Windows Phone and flagship Android device in the United States during the winter quarter. Take a look…

Virgin Mobile brings contract-free iPhone 5s/5c down to just $385/$315

Virgin Mobile, a subsidiary of Sprint, has discounted contract-free iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c to just $385 and $315, respectively, representing significant savings over Apple's respective asking prices of $649 and $549 for the entry-level models with sixteen gigabytes of storage.

If you do the math quickly in your head, that's $264 off the iPhone 5s and $234 off the iPhone 5c. You'll need to sign up for one of Virgin's unlimited data plans starting at $35 per month ($30 if you choose to auto-pay by PayPal or your credit/debit car).

These deals are web exclusives and valid for a limited time only...

Apple: 8GB iPhone 5c is for mid-tier markets where ‘LTE is becoming more established’

Today's release of a new, cheaper iPhone 5c model with a rather paltry eight gigabytes of storage has prompted many writers to postulate as to why Apple may have limited the handset's distribution to only a few markets, namely the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and China.

According to Apple itself, that device is meant to target the mid-tier smartphone market where the iPhone has been under lots of pressure from an avalanche of rather affordable and pretty capable Android handsets. Although Apple could have rolled out the 8GB iPhone 5c across all of its markets, they've chosen to go only with a few countries where "LTE is becoming more established"...

8GB iPhone 5c only available in UK, France, Germany, Australia and China

Apple's newly launched cheaper iPhone 5c model with eight gigabytes of storage is only available in select few markets, a spokesperson for the company confirmed Tuesday. The device is available in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and China. It is not, however, on sale in the United States, for the time being.

By comparison, the relaunched fourth-generation iPad with Retina display is available across all territories because that device is a replacement for the company's phased-out iPad 2 and now represents the new entry-level, full-size iPad offering. The introduction of the entry-level 8GB iPhone 5c is largely viewed as an effort to help boost the device's lagging sales...

Apple launches cheaper 8GB iPhone 5c

As expected, Apple has launched an 8GB version of its iPhone 5c this morning. The handset popped up on UK carrier O2's website a few moments ago, priced at £50 on contract. That's a little over $80 in USD, and between £50 and £100 cheaper than the 16GB model.

Apart from the smaller storage bin, the new iPhone 5c is identical in every way to the handset that Apple introduced back in October. It still has a 4-inch Retina display, the powerful A6 processor, and an 8-megapixel camera. And yes, it's still unapologetically plastic...

Cheaper 8GB iPhone 5c could land tomorrow, rumor has it

It is no secret that Apple's unapologetically plastic iPhone 5c has fallen short of Apple management's internal projections. As an effort to revitalize flagging sales of the $549 handset, Apple's uncharacteristically decided to run a series of new web and prints ads in places like the Tumblr blogging platform, NYTimes.com, Yahoo.com and the Rolling Stone magazine.

Apple's game plan for the iPhone 5c now appears to include a cheaper model with just eight gigabytes of storage. According to a new rumor, the 8GB iPhone 5c is launching tomorrow, March 18, in - of all places - Germany on the Vodafone unit's O2 network...

Apple extends iPhone 5c ad push to Rolling Stone magazine

Continuing with its advertising push for the iPhone 5c, Apple has taken out a high-profile ad in this month's issue of Rolling Stone. The print ad, which resembles the art we have seen in online spots, can be found on the back cover of the magazine.

Earlier today we noted that Apple had launched a rather aggressive campaign for the handset, which it launched last fall. In the past few weeks, animated 5c ads have popped up on expensive real estate, including Yahoo.com and NYTimes.com...

Apple pushing iPhone 5c with new animated web ads

Apple has been having a little more trouble selling the iPhone 5c than it anticipated. We've known this for a long time, and Tim Cook himself confirmed it during the company's last earnings call, essentially telling analysts that the handset has not been as popular as they expected.

But instead of throwing in the towel, Apple appears to be experimenting with a new advertising campaign to push the device. Animated ads, like the one you see in the screenshot above, have begun popping up on high profile websites like Tumblr, Yahoo and The New York Times...

Upcoming large-screened iPhone described as a cross between iPhone 5c and iPod nano

There have been numerous attempts at envisioning what Apple's next iPhone might look like, especially as the likes of Reuters and The Wall Street Journal jumped on the iPhablet bandwagon calling for two new large-screened iPhones, one with a 4.7-inch display and the other rocking a screen that seemingly measures at least five inches diagonally.

A new report by the rather accurate Japanese blog Macotakara now claims that the upcoming iPhones will expand on rather than replace the current four-inch four factor offered by the iPhone 5/5s/5c, with the bigger model classed as a phablet...

Walmart drops price of 16GB iPhone 5s down to $119, 5c to $29

Not to be outdone by Best Buy, Walmart has launched a new iPhone promotion this week. The national retailer can now beat the electronics dealer in price on the entry level models of both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c by up to $30.

The sale knocks the 16GB iPhone 5s down to $119, and its 5c counterpart down to just $29. Obviously, both of these prices require that you sign a two-year contract with a carrier, but otherwise there are no gift card or trade-in stipulations...

Former Apple ad man Ken Segall explains why the iPhone 5c flopped

Ken Segall doesn't mince words when it comes to talking about his previous employer. The former Apple ad man has a track record of calling it like he sees on his 'Observatory' blog, where he's talked about everything from the iPhone's name, to the successfulness of Samsung.

In his latest blog post, Segall attempts to explain why the iPhone 5c has been such a failure. Apple hasn't come out and said it, obviously, but there's been quite a bit of evidence suggesting the handset hasn't performed as well as it hoped. And Ken has a few possible reasons why...
