Tip: name your Touch ID fingerprints

On iPhones and iPads outfitted with Apple’s fingerprint identity sensor, you can set Touch ID to purchase App Store apps, pay for in-store items with Apple Pay, unlock private data in third-party apps, get into the device by scanning your fingerprint and more.

Enrolling multiple fingers is a great way to improve Touch ID accuracy and make your experience better. By default, iOS names each new fingerprint as “Fingerprint 1,” “Fingerprint 2,” “Fingerprint 3” and so forth.

Thankfully, you can rename your saved prints to something more descriptive so you can quickly distinguish them.

Best Buy slashes $200-$250 off the iPad mini 3

The iPad mini 3 isn’t the best iPad mini you can buy, but it’s still pretty good at what it does. Not only does it feature a modest A7 processor, but it was also the first iPad mini to feature Touch ID and support Apple Pay.

The unit has since been discontinued, after being replaced by the iPad mini 4, but at $200-$250 off, it’s worth considering, especially when it’s being used by someone who doesn’t necessarily need to have the latest and greatest.

UK banks RBS and NatWest now allow account access via Touch ID fingerprint identification

As reported Wednesday by BBC News, two banks in the United Kingdom will soon allow their customers access their bank accounts using Touch ID-based fingerprint identification technology, a UK first.

“RBS and NatWest customers must activate the feature with their security information, but would only need to use Apple’s Touch ID thereafter,” reports the BBC.

To protect their customers’ sensitive financial information and mitigate risk, the banks have put a number of restrictions in place to augment Apple’s existing Touch ID safeguards.

Cover your iPad with a professionally stylish felt sleeve

Living a conflicted life, I am an iPhone nudist but also a hardware reviewer for iDB. As you can imagine, the struggle comes when reviewing accessories that cause the user to obfuscate the design and detail of an Apple iOS device with unnecessary appendages. I do not like bulky cases, even if their primary function is protection. I do not even like screen protectors because it stands between my finger and the glass.

When Inatek approached me about a sleeve, I jumped at the option. Sleeves are one of my favorite accessory genres because they allow the device to be used naked, while still providing protection for travel and day-to-day carry. The Inatek TPB-IM sleeve fits the bill.
