iOS 7

Leaked images seemingly show OS X 10.10 with Control Center, flatter UI and other iOS 7 features

Earlier this morning, someone has posted a set of alleged OS X 10.10 screenshots on Reddit only to pull them soon after.

In researching the authenticity of the purported photos, MacRumors has been able to dig up a few interesting tidbits concerning Apple's design direction for the next major update to its desktop operating system powering Macs.

The original photos have been removed since at the request of the original poster. We can't vouch for their authenticity and are reposting them here for entertainment purposes...

iOS 7 adoption approaches 90% ahead of WWDC

With just a few days until the highly-anticipated WWDC keynote, where iOS 8 is expected to be unveiled, adoption of iOS 7 continues to rise. According to the latest statistics from Chitika Insights, relayed from PC Magazine, 89.7% of iPhones and 84.8% of iPads are running the latest software version. Those numbers are based on the millions of devices that accessed the Chitika ad network between May 22 and May 28 in the United States and Canada.

iOS 6 usage continues to decline, now accounting for 8.8% of iPhone web traffic and 7.9% of iPad web traffic. Less than two percent of iPhones are running iOS 5 or older software versions, at least those being used to access the Chitika ad network. Meanwhile, 5.6% of iPads are still running iOS 5 and 1.7% have iOS 4 or earlier…

TodayLock adds a daily overview to the Lock screen

I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. In the last few months, I have covered an endless amount of Lock screen extensions, ranging from LockInfo7 and LockScreen Informer to Convergance and Forecast. In the most recent Let's Talk Jailbreak podcast episode, our own Jeff Benjamin was very vocal about LockScreen Informer in particular, noting that it had several features but not the most impressive design.

TodayLock is a new jailbreak tweak that is quite the opposite. It has a very beautiful and simplistic design, but does not deliver all of the functionality that LockScreen Informer does. Instead, it focuses on three main items: events, reminders and weather. For some people, that might be all they need. If you consider yourself to be one of those people, read ahead to find out how this extension works…

OkSiri: always-on voice recognition for Siri

One of my favorite things about Android is the "OK Google" command that allows you to perform quick voice searches on a whim. Now iPhone users can (sort of) join in on the fun.

OkSiri is a brand new jailbreak tweak that brings always-on voice recognition to iOS 7 devices. Have a look at our video walkthrough inside for a demonstration of how it works.

InCaseOf adds emergency info to the Lock screen

While we obviously do not wish it upon anyone, you never know when you might find yourself in a medical emergency. You also never know where you might be at the time, or who you will be with. That is why a new jailbreak tweak called InCaseOf is more important than you might think. InCaseOf adds important emergency information to the Lock screen, so that first responders and others can gain a better understanding of your health situation. Take a look at how it works…

VintageKeys lets you switch back to the old iOS 6 keyboard

Ryan Petrich is one of the most influential developers within the jailbreaking scene, with his name behind several well-designed and useful jailbreak tweaks for iPhone and iPad. One of his latest releases is VintageKeys, a useful extension that allows you to adjust the keyboard styling on your device. There are four different keyboards to choose from: modern light, modern dark, legacy light and legacy dark…

Check out these 3 beautiful iOS theme setups

A few of our readers have asked us what happened to Theme Thursday, a weekly column that covered the best new Winterboard themes for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The answer is that we decided to discontinue this column in April, primarily because themes started being released on a less frequent basis. Nevertheless, the theming community is still going strong.

Despite the slowdown, there are still a number of quality themes released every now and then that are worth mentioning. As such, we've turned to the /r/iOSthemes community on Reddit and hand picked three iOS theme setups that we think look gorgeous. Where possible, we've included the themes and jailbreak tweaks used to achieve each setup. Take a look ahead…

DefaultSpot makes Spotify the default music player on iPhone

Spotify is one of the most popular cross-platform streaming music services, with over 40 million active users worldwide. While I am out of luck using the service as a Canadian, our neighbors to the south and elsewhere can benefit from a jailbreak tweak called DefaultSpot. The simple iOS extension sets Spotify as the default music player on iPhone, and also integrates with the Control Center playback controls.

LockScreen Informer is a Cydget that brings useful info to the Lock screen

The latest trend of jailbreak tweaks that attempt to enhance the Lock screen experience, such as IntelliScreenX and Helius, continues with the release of a new Cydget called LockScreen Informer. The tweak displays important info directly on the Lock screen, saving you the trouble of opening Notification Center or fully unlocking your device on many occasions. You're probably thinking this is exactly like the LockInfo7 tweak we covered last week, but there are some notable differences…

iOS 7: the ultimate Spotlight search guide

Spotlight is the search tool that allows you to search for local files on your iOS device quickly and efficiently. Along with local file searches, Spotlight can search web contents via your device's default search engine or via Wikipedia.

The great thing about Spotlight is that it is built right into the stock iOS 7 Home screen, and it's accessible from any Home screen page. While the Spotlight search tool isn't as robust as Spotlight on the Mac, or as robust as what you'll find on competing platforms (there is no delimiting for local content), its ease of use makes it a fairly efficient tool for locating content quickly on the iPhone. Have a look at our full Spotlight how-to post after the break.

LockInfo7 brings essential info to the Lock screen

There are a countless number of jailbreak tweaks that aim to improve the Lock screen experience, such as Convergance and IntelliScreenX, but not many come close to LockInfo7 in terms of usefulness. The newly released tweak by iOS developer David Ashman expands the functionality of the Lock screen in several different ways. Read ahead to see what I mean…

Amazon offering Logitech’s PowerShell iOS 7 controller for $50 with free shipping

Logitech's PowerShell iOS 7 controller has been heavily criticized for its high launch price ($99) and there have been some complaints about build quality and features. But if you're serious about iOS gaming, you should consider this accessory as a worthy first entrant into the iOS 7 controller market.

Gamers who have been on the lookout for a nice deal on the PowerShell are in for a treat as Amazon is currently offering the accessory for just $49.99, with free shipping included. That's a nice 29 percent discount over the online retailer's normal asking price of $69.99 and a cool $50 savings from its suggested (and rather insane) retail price of ninety-nine bucks...
