Chitika: iOS 6 now accounts for 83% of all North American iOS traffic

By Cody Lee on Feb 13, 2013

With Apple releasing iOS 6.1.1 earlier this week—just two weeks after releasing iOS 6.1—ad network Chitika wanted to take a look and see where iOS version distribution and adoption was at in terms of overall percentage of iOS traffic.

To determine this, the firm’s analytical arm Chitika Insights took a sample of ad impressions from millions of US and Canadian iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users during a 24 hour period. And they found that over 80% are on iOS 6… Read More

How to jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 with evasi0n

By Jeff Benjamin on Feb 11, 2013

To the surprise of many of us, Apple released iOS 6.1.1 today for the iPhone 4S. Fortunately, @planetbeing has reiterated the fact that the evasi0n untethered jailbreak works with iOS 6.1.1 perfectly fine.

Living up to that promise, the evad3rs just a few moments ago, released their update to evasi0n with iOS 6.1.1 support in tow. We have tested out the jailbreak for ourselves, and can confirm that the process is exactly like the previous jailbreak process, except it now works for iOS 6.1.1.

If you feel like doing so, it is now okay to go ahead an update to iOS 6.1.1, and re-jailbreak your iPhone 4S with the latest version of evasi0n. One thing that must be kept in mind, however, is that the iOS 6.1.1 update will most likely update your iPhone 4S’ baseband. So, if you’re relying on some sort of unlock like UltraSn0w, it’s advisable that you hold off for the time being. Those of you who are factory unlocked won’t have a problem.

Evasi0n 1.3 jailbreak for iPhone 4S on iOS 6.1.1 now available

By Sébastien Page on Feb 11, 2013

The evad3rs just released evasi0n 1.3, an update specifically targeted to iPhone 4S users who are running iOS 6.1.1.

Earlier today, Apple released iOS 6.1.1 for iPhone 4S users, an update that was pushed to fix spotty 3G issues on the device. As always when a new firmware version drops, the main question on our mind was: will this break the jailbreak? We were quick to find out that even though evasi0n was not working with 6.1.1, it didn’t fix the exploits used by evasi0n to jailbreak your device. Ultimately, evad3rs member PlanetBeing let us know that it was only a matter of time until evasion would get an update for iOS 6.1.1, and this time has come… Read More

Apple posts iOS 6.1.1 firmware fixing iPhone 4S reliability, 3G issues

By Christian Zibreg on Feb 11, 2013

Right on cue, Apple has rushed out the new iOS 6.1.1 firmware update to the iPhone 4S owners to fix 3G connectivity issues, enterprise problems and quite possibly squash a few reliability related bugs. iPhone 4S owners can apply an over-the-air update by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Of course, if you’re already jailbroken, do not update to iOS 6.1.1 until it becomes clear whether or not it breaks the jailbreak… Read More

Apple said to be rushing iOS 6.1.1 to address 3G and enterprise issues

By Cody Lee on Feb 11, 2013

Over the past week or so, several users have come forward complaining about issues with iOS 6.1. Vodafone has actually told its iPhone 4S owners not to update to the software due to the problems, and AOL Corporate has had to turn off some Exchange services.

Well it looks like Apple is working to get these bugs fixed as soon as possible. A new report out this morning claims that carriers have already completed testing of iOS 6.1.1, and the 23MB firmware will be available in the near future as an over-the-air update… Read More

Pod2g: iOS 6.1.1 beta does not fix latest jailbreak

By Cody Lee on Feb 7, 2013

This is pretty interesting. Pod2g just announced that the new iOS 6.1.1 beta that Apple seeded to developers yesterday does not actually patch the exploits used in the latest jailbreak.

The beta came just a week after Apple rolled out iOS 6.1 to the public, and two days after the release of evasi0n, so it was assumed that the two were related. But that may not be the case… Read More

Apple seeds iOS 6.1.1 beta to developers

By Cody Lee on Feb 6, 2013

It’s only been a week since Apple released iOS 6.1 to the public, and it’s already hard at work on the software’s next update. The iPhone-maker has seeded the first beta of iOS 6.1.1 to developers this morning, bringing the build to version 10B311.

It’s also worth noting that today’s beta arrives just 48 hours after the iOS 6.x evasi0n jailbreak was released. So obviously, those of you who are jailbroken that have access to today’s software update will want to avoid it until it’s investigated…
