Apple randomly signing iOS 6.0.x firmware [update: signing is over]

Good news for folks who lost their jailbreak updating their iOS device to try out iOS 7, it appears that Apple is currently signing 6.0.x versions of iOS firmware. This means that you should be able to downgrade your iPhone or iPad to iOS 6 and re-jailbreak.

Well-known iOS hacker and jailbreak developer iH8sn0w was the first to spot the reopening of the signing window, and we have since had multiple users confirm to us that they have successfully downgraded and re-jailbroken their devices. More after the fold...

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s finally here. After much anticipation, the hard working team of hackers that make up the evad3rs have released their iOS 6 untethered jailbreak tool to the public. The tool is called evasi0n, and it will let you jailbreak your iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches, on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Evasi0n is an untethered jailbreak, and it works on every iOS device capable of running iOS 6, with the exception of the Apple TVs. That means that you can now jailbreak the iPhone 5, the iPad mini, the iPad 4, the iPad 4, iPad 3, the iPhone 4S, and various other iOS devices with evasi0n. Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 updated with iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak support

iH8sn0w just updated his popular Windows jailbreak tool, Sn0wBreeze, to support the latest public firmware for pre-A5 iOS devices. The update brings support to iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.0.1 tethered jailbreaks for those devices.

Eligible hardware includes the iPhone 4, and the iPhone 3GS. Sn0wBreeze does not work with A5 devices like the iPad 2, or A6 devices like the iPhone 5. How to jailbreak iOS 6.0.1

iOS 6.0.1 was just released a few minutes ago, but we've already confirmed it can be jailbroken right now using the existing jailbreak tools for iOS 6.

Although RedSn0w was recently updated to 0.9.15b3, the update doesn't yet include support for iOS 6. That's okay, because you can still point at the already supported iOS 6 firmware and successfully jailbreak iOS 6.0.1.

Apple releases iOS 6.0.1: fixes keyboard glitch, improves Wi-Fi and more

Apple has this morning released an update to its mobile operating system, iOS 6.0.1. The update comes just a day before the official launch of Apple's new 4th gen iPad and iPad mini.

In iTunes, updating to 6.0.1 is business as usual. But if you have an iPhone 5, you'll likely see the above screen asking you to install an 'Updater' before you receive the actual update. As it states, the Updater fixes a bug that prevents the iPhone 5 from installing updates wirelessly over the air.

Apple reportedly readying iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.1 due post-holidays

Apple has allegedly begun testing iOS 6.0.1, a maintenance release that should address the annoying screen flicker which some users reported as happening when the iPhone 5 keyboard pops up. The release should also fix another issue with the camera’s flash not going off. Apple is also working on iOS 6.1, the first so-called dot update to its mobile operating system powering iPhones, iPads and iPods.
