AT&T Offers iPhone 3GS Refurb for $9

by Alex Heath on Jul 19, 2011

A recent rumor is that Apple will start offering the iPhone 3GS as its “low-end” consumer device this Fall with a $350 off-contract price tag. Previously, it was speculated that Apple would introduce a second iPhone ‘Nano’ model in the coming months for the prepaid and cheaper phone markets.

AT&T has started offering the 8GB iPhone 3GS as a refurb for only $9. Usually, these types of price drops mean that a carrier is trying to get remaining units off the shelves, so we find it unlikely that the 3GS will be of any interest to Apple come this Fall. Read More

His latest report confirms that Apple will indeed be launching two different versions of the iPhone this Fall. One iPhone 4S/5 model will replace the current iPhone 4, and there will also be a cheaper model for the low-end and prepaid markets… Read More

Speed Test: iOS 5 vs iOS 4.3.3

by iDB Staff on Jun 8, 2011

So I’ve been playing with iOS 5 beta 1 on my iPhone 3GS for a couple of days now and my first impression is that it looks really good. Good enough to make me consider giving up my jailbreak and unlock to install iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 – don’t worry, I won’t.

One thing I’ve noticed about Apple’s latest beta is that it is a little sluggish. I know an iPhone 3GS isn’t the ideal device to test a new OS on, so I thought I’d put it to the test against the same device, but on the current iOS 4.3.3… Read More

iOS 5 Will Work on the iPhone 3GS

Despite concerns, the iPhone 3GS will be supported in iOS 5. This means that 3GS owners will be able to download and install Apple’s next version of iOS when it goes live for the public this fall.

Although most parts of iOS 5 will work on the 3GS, certain features will not. This includes parts of the new Camera app. Overall, the iPhone 3GS works pretty well with the iOS 5 developer beta that people have already been testing… Read More

Do You Know About Your iPhone’s Radiation?

by Guest Author on Jun 3, 2011

While your iPhone may be way ahead of rival devices in terms of technical specifications and software, it’s severely trailing behind others when it comes to radiation. A study by the Environmental Working Group found that Apple’s popular smartphone only gives off an “average” amount of radiation, whereas Motorola handsets come with significantly more.

This CNN report comes after the World Health Organization announced on Tuesday that there was sufficient evidence to categorize exposure to cell phone radiation as “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” Read More

Report Claims iPhone 3GS is Outselling Flagship Android Phones

by Cody on May 9, 2011

While the iPhone continues to be widely popular, each new device launch seems to come with a large amount of criticism. The original iPhone didn’t have a cut and paste feature, the 3G didn’t have video recording, and the 3GS only had a 3.2 MP camera without a flash.

Although its specs aren’t always cutting edge compared to its Android counterparts, the iPhone has been a handheld favorite since its inception. This fact is reiterated by a recent report that not only is the iPhone 4 the top selling smartphone for Verizon and AT&T, the 3GS is outselling top Android phones… Read More
