For anyone that isn’t much of a fan of the App Switcher Apple introduced in iOS 7 and later, a new free jailbreak tweak in Cydia’s BigBoss repository called VintageSwitcher is taking things all the way back to iOS 6 with a simplified look and feel and a familiar user interface. Read More
SixBar is a recently released tweak for those of you who are tiring of the status bar present in iOS 7. It forces the status bar into the old-school black and white mode that was last seen in iOS 6.
SixBar is not a theme, so it doesn’t require WinterBoard or any other theming utility. Once you install SixBar, you’ll need to go to the Settings app to find the tweak’s preferences. Inside the preferences you’ll notice a lone toggle—a kill-switch—used to enable or disable the tweak. When you enable the toggle and respring, you’ll see the familiar black and white status bar inspired by iOS 6…
A new jailbreak theme package was just released on Cydia, and it allows users who install it to regain the app icons featured in iOS 6 and below. The theme, which is entitled iOS 6 Theme for iOS 7, is a WinterBoard release that replaces the stock iOS 7 app icons with those from earlier firmware. Take a gander at our full video walkthrough inside to see how it looks. Read More
Good news for folks who stuck around on iOS 6.1.3/4 in hopes of scoring an early jailbreak, developer winocm has confirmed that a public release for his late-version iOS 6 hack will be available in the next few months.
Winocm has been working on an iOS 6.1.3/4 jailbreak for a few months now. He’s shown it off on video, and even let our very own Jeff take it for a spin. And today he answered the oft-asked ETA question: ‘before 2014.’ Read More
Filippo Bigarella has released a new jailbreak tweak this weekend called GlyphPatch. The utility patches the recently exposed DoS exploit which targets Safari’s WebKit engine and causes apps to crash when rendering a malicious sequence of characters.
The bug, which was made public last week, affects users on both iOS and Mac and can be triggered through a few different surfaces: SMS, iMessage, the web, and network SSID. But jailbroken iOS users can protect themselves from it with this new tweak… Read More
With iOS 7 on the horizon, many rumblings have been surfacing lately about the possibility of an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak. First there was UnthreadedJB, who after releasing an obscure iOS 5.1 jailbreak for CDMA enable iPhone 4’s, claims to have an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak. Those claims have never been solidified by any independent sources, so the verdict is definitely still out about its legitimacy.
But there’s still hope. iOS hacker winocm, well known throughout the jailbreak community, took to twitter this morning to confirm that he has a binary for an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak. Read More
LockBar Pro is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that brings a little of the iOS 7 flavor to lesser firmware. A tweak that’s obviously been influenced by the Control Center feature in iOS 7, LockBar Pro is sure to satisfy those who desire to have some of the feature set from Apple’s newest firmware, but are relegated to iOS 6.
We’ve taken a little bit of time to go hands-on with LockBar Pro. Check past the break for a preview video that showcases some of its features. Read More
Good news this afternoon for jailbroken users on iOS 6. CocoaNuts, the developers behind a number of popular tweaks like Safari Downloader and YourTube, have announced today that the sequel to their Celeste tweak is nearly done.

Good news for folks who lost their jailbreak updating their iOS device to try out iOS 7, it appears that Apple is currently signing 6.0.x versions of iOS firmware. This means that you should be able to downgrade your iPhone or iPad to iOS 6 and re-jailbreak.
Well-known iOS hacker and jailbreak developer iH8sn0w was the first to spot the reopening of the signing window, and we have since had multiple users confirm to us that they have successfully downgraded and re-jailbroken their devices. More after the fold… Read More
Avid Google Voice users will be happy to hear that there’s a new jailbreak tweak out that integrates Google’s SMS service into the stock Messages app. We’ve seen tweaks like this before, such as SMS GV Extension. But to my knowledge, none of them made it to iOS 6.
The tweak we’re going to be talking about today, however, does support iOS 6 (as well as later versions). It’s called SMS on GV, and like the others we’ve seen, it allows you to send and receive text messages using your Google Voice account from within Messages… Read More
A few days ago, we were contacted by one of the developers of a jailbreak theme I had never heard of before called iMIUI. In the email they told us that we just had to check out their theme, saying it could be the next ayecon.
Given that Surenix’s ayecon theme is easily the most popular in the jailbreak community right now, that’s a pretty bold statement. But after using iMIUI over the past few days, I’m starting to think they might just be right… Read More

In the summer of 2011, jailbreak developers participated in a cool project called tweak week. Several devs each took a week, and released one new jailbreak tweak everyday. It went on for 3+ months, and we got several great tweaks out of it.
One of those tweaks was ToDoNotes, by TwitkaFly developer moeseth, which added a notepad to the Spotlight page that talked with the Notes app, giving you quick access to your memos. And version 2 just came out with iOS 6 support… Read More
Remember the good old days, in iOS 5, when you could listen to a video’s audio in the background on your device while multitasking? All you had to do was double tap the Home button, swipe to the left to reveal the iPod controls, and press Play.
But for some reason, Apple disabled this feature in iOS 6, leaving us without a native way to do things like listen to YouTube videos in Safari while texting or browsing Twitter. But the good news is, we’ve come across a fairly easy way to get it back… Read More

According to reports, the next version of iOS 6 — iOS 6.1.3 — is expected to change that, stamping out the exploits and potential security vulnerabilities used by Evasi0n. In the mean time, though, it’s all gravy. In fact, Evasi0n was just updated today, which brings its version number up to 1.5.2
Evasion 1.5.2 is a very minor update that has to do with language localizations. More specifically, support has been added to include localizations for the native languages of the Evad3rs: French, German, and Chinese. Read More
The long-awaited iOS 6.x jailbreak, known as evasi0n, has been dubbed the most popular jailbreak ever. And rightly so. In its first 10 minutes, it was used by over 100,000 people. And 4 days later, that number grew to 7 million.
Today, nearly a month after evasi0n’s release, there’s a new statistic out. Evad3rs team member pod2g just passed along the news from Saurik that more than 14 million devices have now been seen running Cydia on iOS 6.x… Read More
