Turn iMessage, WhatsApp, and Line voice messages into text with Textify

Sending your friends voice recordings on messenger platforms such as iMessage, WhatsApp or Threema is surely not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s hard to overlook its rising popularity in certain circles. Be it for faster communications or text weariness amongst younger people, voice messages are rife in chats today and that is despite the one clear downside they have: unlike texts, they are not very discreet, which makes them basically unobtainable in a host of potential situations.

Understanding the (circumstantial) issues with voice messages, Apple were the first to offer voicemail transcriptions in iOS 10 and now Textify joins the cause to bring a similar service to an even wider audience. The speech recognition app provides spoken word-to-text transcriptions for all your favorite messenger platforms including iMessage, WhatsApp, Threema, and Line. And suffice it to say that it wouldn’t be on iDB if it was not surprisingly powerful at that. Here’s how it works.

Monument Valley is now available for free

For the first time in its history, well-respected iOS game Monument Valley is available as a free download on the App Store. The beautifully designed puzzle/platformer has been the recipient of many awards and accolades since its debut, including a prestigious Apple Design Award.

As such, the popular title, downloaded over a million times already thus far, has generally commanded a more than fair price of $3.99.

There’s currently no indication as to how long the game will remain on sale. With that in mind, we highly advise you to scurry on over to the App Store and claim this game.

Sam’s Club will discount iPhone 6 to $99 on November 15

Retailer Sam’s Club will offer the iPhone 6 starting at $99 for the 16GB version on November 15th, according to a leaked flier obtained by GottaDeals. Black Friday doesn’t begin until November 28th, but apparently Sam’s Club is wanting to kick things off early, to presumably capitalize off the demand.

Good deal: name your own price for this Mac software bundle

Now normally, when you see a ‘name your own price’ deal you think: what’s the catch? At least that’s what I think. If I really get to name my own price for something, can I just say $1? That’s not usually the case, but it is with this new Stack Social promo.

The deal site is offering up 3 Mac apps—Airy, My Living Desktop and Compartments—that usually cost a combined $60, for literally whatever you want to pay. The only thing is your offer must be $1 or above, and if it’s $12 or more, you get more apps…

Apple now offering refurbished 7th-gen iPod nano online

Apple has been very active lately in the refurbished department of its web store. Last week it posted fifth generation iPod touch models to the page for the first time. And just weeks before that, it began offering fourth-generation iPads and iPad minis.

Today, the company has added refurbished 7th generation iPod nano models to its website, bringing its reconditioned offerings for iOS devices it introduced last fall full circle. You can now find nearly every late-model iPhone, iPad or iPod at a discount…

Marvel again offering 700 first issue comics for free

Last month, Marvel announced that it was giving away a bundle of over 700 first issue digital comics for free through its iOS and web apps. The offer included origin editions for well-known superheros like the Avengers, the X-Men, and Spiderman.

Unfortunately, the promotion was so popular that it crashed ComiXology’s servers within hours of going live, forcing Marvel to call the whole thing off. But the good news is, it has resurrected the deal today with a much better contingency plan…

Walmart now offering 16GB iPad mini for $299

Apple received a lot of criticism when it introduced its iPad mini last October for $329. Critics felt that since other 7-inch tablets out at the time, like Google’s Nexus 7 for example, were in the $200 range, Apple was crazy for pricing the mini so high.

But these days you don’t have to pay quite that much to snag the tiny tablet. Last week we saw Apple offering a refurbished version of the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad mini for $299. And today, it looks like Walmart has matched that price for a brand new one…

Best Buy taking 20% off all iTunes gift cards today

Believe it or not, Christmas is this Tuesday, meaning you have less than 72 hours to finish up your last-minute holiday shopping. Unfortunately, it’s too late to order gifts like the iPad mini or iPhone 5, as they won’t ship on time.

But there’s still plenty of time, though, to pick up an iTunes gift card. And wouldn’t you know it, national electronics retailer Best Buy is having a sale on them today, knocking 20% off all denominations between $15 and $100…
