Great news today for folks with a GSM iPhone 4S who are using, or planning to use, GEVEY’s Ultra S product to unlock their handset. It appears the popular SIM interposer is compatible with the new iOS 5.1.1 update.
Apple released the update yesterday, equipped with a handful of bug fixes and improvements. And although its future is still a bit murky for jailbreakers, it looks like it’s ok for unlockers to upgrade… Read More

We’ve recently seen some great options surface for unlocking our iPhones. For instance, AT&T recently started unlocking off-contract handsets. And then of course there is the new SAM method that popped up over the weekend.
But the competition hasn’t stopped GEVEY from releasing a new SIM interposer. In fact, it’s stepping up its game. The new Ultra 5.1 for the GSM iPhone 4 supports more basebands and has more features than ever before… Read More

The folks over at HowToarena are reporting that a new SIM interposer for the iPhone 4S is about to hit the market. The GEVEY Ultra S promises to unlock both GSM and CDMA handsets, which is a fairly big deal.
We’ve already seen a couple of SIM interposers launch for Apple’s latest handset this year. Last month alone we told you about two new products, the R-SIM and TP-SIM. But neither worked with Sprint handsets… Read More

I’ll admit that I’ve never used a Gevey SIM interposer, or anything like it in the past, but I figured I’d give it a shot with the iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 4S has its own special SIM interposer called the R-SIM II Ultra S, which was recently released.
I’m happy to report that this is by far the easiest method for “unlocking” your iPhone 4S, and using it with T-Mobile or virtually any other GSM carrier. And guess what, no jailbreak is required.

Back in November, the Dev Team announced they had found a very promising iPhone 4S unlock, but there hasn’t been any news on that front ever since. We’ve had an untethered jailbreak for A5 devices for a while, but the cherry on top would be to get a software unlock via UltraSn0w for the iPhone 4S.
While we’re waiting for a software unlock, a few Chinese companies are working on a hardware unlock. We’ve recently heard about new comers who claimed having a SIM interposer unlock for the iPhone 4S – TPSIM and R-SIM – but we can’t recommend those yet as we haven’t been able to give them a try.
Today, Gevey, a familiar name to us, is releasing the Gevey Ultra S unlock for iPhone 4S… Read More

Today, as we’re sure you’re aware of, the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 was released. Tools like RedSn0w and packages like Corona were released to take advantage of pod2g’s untethered exploit.
If you’ve had an iPhone 4 since launch, then it’s entirely possible that you’ve preserved your baseband up until now for unlocking and resale value.
If your primary concern is preserving your baseband for an UltraSn0w unlock, then you’ll be happy to hear that PwnageTool is back, and it packs full iOS 5.0.1 compatibility in tow… Read More

With the release of iOS 5, we’ve been asked by a bunch of Gevey unlockers if it was safe or not to update to the latest operating system.
Truth be told, I do not use the Gevey SIM unlock, so I wasn’t really able to help until a user pointed out the obvious to me: it works as long as you preserve your baseband… Read More
