Amazon new hands-free camera judges your outfit in comparison with others

Online retail giant Amazon today introed a hands-free camera which has been specifically designed to judge your wardrobe choices in comparison with others. Dubbed Echo Look, it features built-in LED lighting, depth sensing, machine learning and Alexa-driven voice features.

Working in conjunction with the free mobile app for iOS and Android, it lets you snap a photo or shoot a short video of your outfit with a simple voice command. Data from the onboard depth-sensing sensor lets the device blur out your background to focus on your wardrobe.

Apple's boss Tim Cook and Jony Ive, its Chief Design Officer charged with blue sky thinking, have discussed several topics of interest in a new interview published in the March 2016 edition of the Vogue magazine.

The two executives talked the synergy between Apple and fashion, the Apple Watch, partnership with the luxury French brand Hermes and the upcoming flying saucer-shaped Campus 2 building, Apple's future headquarters.

Ahead of next year's Apple-sponsored Met Gala, Jony Ive sat down with The Wall Street Journal to talk about the growing relationship between tech and fashion. Ive will be co-hosting the Gala in May, along with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Winter, actor Idris Elba and pop star Taylor Swift.

The red-carpet event is New York's biggest fashion function of the year, and the main exhibit of 2016 will be "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology." The message is that beautiful designs can result from both craftsmanship and automation, whether created by hand or machine.

Former Apple Music lead Ian Rogers joins French luxury multinational LVMH

Following his resignation from Apple, a move said to have left his colleagues scratching their head, former Apple Music executive and Beats 1 director Ian Rogers has joined LVMH, a French luxury goods conglomerate headquartered in Paris, Re/code said on Tuesday.

This is especially interesting considering Apple itself poached executives from LVMH, including the sales director for watch brand TAG Heuer in July 2014, Heuer Patrick Pruniaux.

Marc Newson, a reputable industrial designer whom Apple hired last September to help shape future products, recently sat down with the London Evening Standard newspaper in his first print interview since formally starting his new role at Apple.

In the article that the paper published Thursday, Newson offers his view of the design world, comments on Apple's newly found focus on fashion and touches briefly on the subject of a rumored Apple car project.

The Sydney-born designer, 51, whose part-time role at Apple is taking up 60 percent of his time, also responds to the criticism coming from the fashion industry regarding the Apple Watch being too mass market for it to be a true luxury item and becoming outdated.

Fashion design house Kate Spade New York launching iPhone-charging women bags this fall

Kate Spade New York, a U.S.-based fashion design house, has partnered with the seed-funded startup Everpurse on a new autumn range of iPhone-friendly bags, purses and backpacks.

These fashionable accessories for women will sport the ability to recharge iPhones, including all Lightning-based models from the iPhone 5 through the iPhone 6 Plus, The Wall Street Journal learned Monday. The fashion label was founded as Kate Spade Handbags in January 1993 by handbag designer Kate Spade.

Some fashion boutiques will have Apple Watches on hand this Friday

As it turns out, you will be available to buy the Apple Watch in stores on Friday—just not Apple's. The New York Times is reporting that select destination fashion boutiques around the world have their own stock, and will be offering the wearable for sale at the end of the week.

This isn't top secret information. Premium retailers such as Dover Street Market in Tokyo and London, Maxfield in Los Angeles, Colette in Paris and 10 Corso Como in Milan have all been openly advertising that the Apple Watch would be available “in-store" on Friday, April 24.

Apple continued its PR push for Apple Watch in Italy this evening, Jony Ive hosting a Design Week event in Milan allowing folks to try on the new wearable. The design chief also used the occasion to unveil what appear to be exclusive new colorways for the Apple Watch Sport band.

The photos you see both above and below, first spotted by 9to5Mac, were posted to Instagram by Umberta Gnutti Beretta, wife of heir to the Beretta firearms empire Franco. In them you can see Ive posing for photos, and a platter with dark blue, red, yellow, and light pink Sport bands.
