What started as a supposedly gimmicky iPhone X feature has turned into the latest thing that Apple’s rivals are now ripping off shamelessly. Asus’s Animoji clone isn’t all that bad because it can be used in video chats or live-streaming, too.
It seems that Samsung and Apple have a new smartphone battleground: emojis. Apple, of course, was the first to bring out an AR emoji on iPhone X last year, but now Samsung is defending its own AR emoji implementation as not being a carbon-copy of Apple’s Animoji feature.
The iOS 11.3 developer beta is now available and it brings a host of smaller changes and a few new features, like expanded medical record integration, four new Animoji, ARKit enhancements and more. Unfortunately, the anticipated battery health and CPU throttling features will be coming in a later iOS 11.3 beta release.
Apple today took an unusual step of previewing some of the new features and enhancements coming to iOS 11.3 ahead of its public release sometime this spring, including all-new performance throttling and power management features.
