Rovio’s new ‘Angry Birds Epic’ game launches worldwide

In February, Rovio teased a new game for its Angry Birds franchise called Angry Birds Epic. A month later it soft-launched the title in a handful countries, and players quickly discovered that this isn't your typical bird-slinger.

Believe it or not, it's actually an adventure role-playing game with turn-based combat and an extensive crafting system. It features epic battles, epic worlds, and it's now available around the globe on both the iPhone and iPad...

As promised, Rovio's RPG-style Angry Birds game, Angry Birds Epic, is soft-launching today in Canada, Australia and New Zealand and its creator Rovio has shared a few screenshots and the official list of features, as well as posted a nice video showing off the actual gameplay.

Set in a fantasy version of Piggy Island, free-to-play Angry Birds Epic is billed as an adventure role-playing game with turn-based combat, set in the Angry Birds universe.

It offers "a gripping campaign with a challenging end game, a rich system of crafting weapons, armor and potions with resources you can collect (or purchase) and much more. The game will release in the United States and other markets later this Spring, Rovio said...

Rovio says upcoming ‘Angry Birds Epic’ game is a turn-based RPG

Over the weekend, Rovio posted a teaser trailer for an unknown, upcoming Angry Birds title. The clip was short, and offered up few details about the game outside of showing a bird wearing knight's armor and announcing countries that would participate in the soft launch.

Well today, the studio revealed that the game is going to be called Angry Birds Epic and it's not going to be the typical bird-flinger. In fact, far from it. The new title will actually fall into the 'adventure role-playing' genre, with a turn-based combat system and extensive crafting...

Rovio teases yet another new Angry Birds game

It hasn't even been a month yet since Rovio unveiled its new game 'Angry Birds Stella,' and the studio has already begun to tease a new title for its hit franchise. A 30-second clip showing a bird wearing a suit of armor popped up on Rovio's YouTube channel over the weekend.

The trailer instructs users to prepare for the most 'epic soft launch ever,' suggesting that the new game will be launching in the near future. It also tells us that the game will be arriving in Australia and Canada first, with other countries to follow shortly after. View the clip below...

Rovio announces new Angry Birds Stella game debuting this Fall

After teasing its brand new Angry Birds "adventure" game on Twitter, Finnish games maker Rovio today formally announced that a new game named Angry Birds Stella is arriving this Fall. The game has been named after its protagonist, the pink, female Stella thing described as a "fierce and a feisty character with a great group of friends".

Angry Birds Stella will open a door to a part of the Angry Birds universe "you’ve never seen before," the blurb promises. If a media release is an indication, Angry Birds Stella will indeed combine the familiar bird-slinging action with some new adventure elements. I've included some additional information below the fold...

Rovio teases new Angry Birds ‘adventure’ game

Rovio has started teasing a new Angry Birds game, tweeting the above image out from its official Twitter account yesterday. Along with the photo, the game-maker says that a "big adventure with new birds" is coming soon and added the hashtag #NewAngryBirds.

The consensus here is that Rovio is finally going to introduce new characters to its franchise, after using the same birds and pigs in many of its popular Angry Birds titles. The 'big adventure' comment also suggests that this isn't going to be its typical bird-slinger...

Rovio denies wrongdoing in NSA’s snooping of Angry Birds players, but…

A report yesterday by The New York Times and other news organizations has provided yet another unsettling glimpse into the NSA's wide-ranging surveillance practices.

The speculation, based on information from documents provided by the NSA leaker Edward Snowden, suggests that the NSA and its British counterpart GCHQ have been collecting private user data from mobile apps, in real time, as it travels across the Internet.

Profile data being collected from popular games such as Rovio’s Angry Birds typically includes age, location and gender, the allegations go. And with games that show ads, the agencies are also able to intercept users' surprisingly detailed advertising profiles, mining it for new information...

Apple has named Rovio's popular Angry Birds Star Wars II game  its App of the Week for this week. This means that between now and next Thursday, you’ll be able to pick up the application for both your iPhone and iPad, for free.

Apple experimenting with custom landing page for Angry Birds Go! in the App Store

Last month, Apple began testing the app trailer waters by hosting a video clip on the App Store for the new game Clumsy Ninja. The embedded clip had no voiceover or custom App Store branding, and it's the only one we've seen like this in the Store to date.

Now, it looks like Apple is running another experiment involving app and media discovery. We noticed this afternoon that it has given the new game Angry Birds Go! a custom landing page in the App Store with links to its related soundtrack and other apps...

Rovio releases Angry Birds Go! kart racing game

In keeping with its promise to release a new game on December 11, Finnish games developer Rovio Mobile on Wednesday posted Angry Birds Go! on the App Store.

The kart-racing game is reminiscent of Nintendo's Mario Kart in that you'll be racing through speedways, canyons, stunt roads and air courses and enjoying a variety of racing modes like Race, Time Boom, Fruit Splat, Champion Chase and Mega Match.

As Angry Birds Go! is set in Rovio's Angry Birds universe, expect to see the familiar Piggy Island rendered in nice 3D graphics and a selection of familiar (and playable) Angry Birds characters, including the iconic pigs like King Pig and Mustache Pig.

There are over 50 soapbox karts to ride, and you can upgrade them by collecting bird coins. The game is available on a free-to-play basis, with in-app purchases available for coins, gems and various power-ups. I've included a launch trailer and some pretty screenies after the break...
