Don’t Expect a 7-inch iPad in 2012

With the success of Amazon’s Kindle Fire, 7-inch tablets have become all the rage these days. Rumors and analysts have suggested over the last few months that Apple is looking to introduce its own 7-inch iPad in 2012 to compete with the new tablets on the market.

While there seems to be supply chain evidence that Apple is gathering 7.85-inch displays for its next-generation iPad, a new report says that Apple has no plans to introduce such a tablet in 2012. WSJ Confirms Apple Has Tapped Sharp for iPad 3 Displays

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple has tapped Sharp as a display supplier for its next generation tablet. We’ve heard the news before from analysts and their “supply checks,” but this obviously lends some credibility to the story.

Hidden Code in iOS 5 Contains Interesting iPad 3 References

The folks over at 9to5Mac have uncovered some interesting information hidden deep within the code of iOS 5. The site has exposed several secret features in the new software by code-digging over the last few months, including Siri.

Manufacturers Struggle to Make the iPad 3′s High Resolution Display

The iPad 2 was a fairly big upgrade from its predecessor. It’s twice as fast, includes a front and back camera, and is more portable than the original. For some reason, however, Apple neglected to change the tablet’s screen resolution. It stayed a dismal 1024 x 768.

Rumors of an Apple branded television just won’t go away, with the latest claims being that Apple has partnered with LG in order to bring a 55″ TV to market. This rumor has now been debunked, with LG’s own CEO saying that Apple is not keen on jumping into the TV market, with OLED screens proving a stumbling block.

With iPad 3 stories currently fighting for attention with iPhone 5 claims and counterclaims, the latest information on Apple’s next tablet comes from the always reliable Wall Street Journal.

The WSJ weighed in on the speculation with a claim that their sources believe Apple is now planning to bring the iPad 3 to market some time in 2012, and not the late 2011 window that had previously been banded around.
