Now that a 32-bit jailbreak for iOS 9.3.5 is finally available a lot of legacy device owners will be looking to try it out on their devices, whether as an end of life plan, or to downgrade them to an unsigned firmware which runs more smoothly. In this guide, we'll show you how to use the Phœnix jailbreak, as well as how to move correctly from the first version to any later ones.

How to properly configure SSH on the extra_recipe and Yalu jailbreaks
For security reasons, the Yalu and extra_recipe jailbreaks have confined SSH connections to USB only. This is sufficient for most, but power users may wish to enable wireless SSH connections for convenience. Additionally, the Dropbear client that these jailbreaks use to manage SSH does not bundle SCP or SFTP, the commands most often used for pushing files to and from your iOS device over SSH.
In this guide, we'll set about fixing up both these issues, to leave you with a more fully-configured SSH client.
How to add an icon to the extra_recipe and Yalu jailbreak apps
If you're a perfectionist and don't like the extra_recipe jailbreak's lack of an icon, you can always change it to a custom one of your choice. This simple modification will also work to change the Yalu app icon should you so desire. Follow our guide below to see how.
How to research Terminal commands using manual pages
If you're like me, you'll often be messing around in Terminal and find you can't remember (or don't know) the correct syntax and options for a command you're trying to issue.
You could look it up online and search through all the slightly different answers for different Unix-based systems, or you could use macOS' built in manual pages to get your answer. This guide will show you how.
How to downgrade 32-bit devices using futurerestore + libipatcher
As the 32-bit devices have been a little neglected of late, long in the tooth as they are, this new release could help to spice things up a little. Developer tihmstar has updated his futurerestore tool, which we've reported on extensively in the past, with an interesting piece of legacy support.
It now includes all the functionality of the Odysseus downgrade tool, allowing users to levy their saved blobs to upgrade, downgrade, or restore their devices to unsigned firmware, hassle-free. In this guide, we'll show you how.
How to downgrade from macOS High Sierra beta to the standard Sierra release
The macOS High Sierra beta is now well under way and many users have been giving it a test run to see what they make of it. However, it's still pretty far from ready for mission-critical applications, and many bugs remain. If you've had enough of the beta experience for now and want to go back to the standard macOS 10.12 Sierra, then read on!
Downgrade any 32-bit device with futurerestore + libipatcher
If you've ever wanted to downgrade your legacy devices but didn't have the tools for the job, then this one may be for you. Tihmstar has released an addition to his well-known futurerestore tool (sometimes called Prometheus), entitled libipatcher. What does libipatcher do? In a nutshell, it will allow you to downgrade any jailbroken 32-bit device to any firmware for which you have blobs.
CoolBooter Beta 11 released, CLI version at 0.6
Jonathan Seals' popular tool CoolBooter, which allows jailbroken devices to boot two different iOS firmwares, has been updated once more. The app version now stands at Beta 11, with the command line tool at 0.6.
How to build extra_recipe from source code using Xcode
If you're an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus user on iOS 10.0.0-10.1.1, the time has come for you to switch from the mach_portal jailbreak to the newer, more stable extra_recipe. If you're a flagship user on iOS 10.1 or iOS 10.1.1 it's as easy as downloading the .ipa and sideloading it; you can follow our guide on the subject.
However, if you're on iOS 10.0.0-10.0.x, or if you have a device other than the iPhone 7(+), there isn't currently an .ipa available which supports you. For that reason, we'll show you how to build your own straight from the source code on GitHub and push it to your device, so you needn't wait to get the newest features and device support.
How to switch your jailbreak from mach_portal or Yalu to extra_recipe
If you're currently jailbroken with mach_portal for iOS 10.1(.1), you should switch over to the new extra_recipe jailbreak. It uses a different exploit from mach_portal, and boasts better stability. iPhone 7(+) users on iOS 10.0.0-10.0.3 can also get in on the fun, and some users of Yalu for 10.0.1-10.2 can make use of extra_recipe if they wish too. Follow our guide to see how to go about it.
