When it arrives next year, AirPower, Apple’s multi-device wireless charging pad compatible with the ubiquitous Qi standard, may be priced at $199 in the United States.

As noted by local blog ThinkApple, Polish online retailer X-Kom is advertising AirPower with a price point of 999 Złotych. While the accessory cannot be purchased yet, the price may translate to around $199 in the US (even though 999 Złotych converts to about $270).

That’s because many items on Apple’s Polish webstore that cost 999 PLN go for around $199 in the US online store. This could be just a placeholder listing so don’t read too much into it.

AirPower will work with all Qi-certified devices, including the latest iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X smartphones. It also works with Apple Watch Series 3 and the upcoming wireless charging case for AirPods, allowing users to wirelessly charge up to three devices at once.

$199, plus another $60 for the new case for AirPods. Was really excited about this but not $200 excited.

I thought it would be around $150-200 so this doesn’t surprise me at all. Still not buying it. Wireless charging is hardly convenient for how I use my phone. My AirPods and Watch, however would be awesome to have it for. Not stoked that i would have to buy a new case though for my AirPods…

F$#% that. I’ll sit here with my $18 wireless charging dock (bought 3 of them) and will stay happy. Apple needs to realize their ‘users will pay anything for our technology’ doesn’t translate to accessories.

Indeed it does. I only use original chargers and cables and got a 79$ 87w USB-C charger to enjoy the full Apple quality. Of course I will only use the original AirPower as it offers a multi-charging experience and looks sleek.

So you’re saying if a similar, non-Apple produced multi-charging, sleek-looking charging pad came out for half the price, you would still choose to get the Apple pad because….Apple?

  • askep3

Honestly easier to buy 3 $10 QI chargers. Unless it has any extra special features you really can’t justify paying the same price for this as you would for the highest end Apple TV.

    It looks damn fine though.

Pass, Much too expensive compared to my 18 dollar wirelss charger. Great concept but much too expensive.

    No thanks, Im good.

  • Nah, don’t need it at that price. I’ll just buy a much cheaper one that’s just as good for around $20-$30 instead.

Just chocked on my coffee reading the headline. In a few simple words.

    Forget that.
