Following purported production images, technical drawings and sketchy photos depicting an alleged inductive wireless charging coil for iPhone 8, a pair of new images of a fully assembled wireless charging component have been posted to the Chinese micro-blogging service Weibo.

As first spotted by iClarified, the two crisp photos appear to show a fully assembled wireless charging part complete with an inductive charging coil and a black printed circuit board.

We cannot vouch for the authentic of these photos nor can we decipher if the assembled kit is the genuine iPhone 8 part or a wireless charging component for another device.

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that all 2017 iPhone models would have wireless charging which he claimed would require an optional accessory that won’t be included in the box.

Daring Fireball’s John Gruber heard from his own sources that Apple’s OLED iPhone could even arrive without software support for wireless charging at launch, saying the feature should be enabled later in the year alongside an iOS 11.1 software update.

For me the iPhones 8 is becoming a bit of a let down

It’s meant to be the 10 year anniversary celebration of the iPhone, putting it ahead of the competition with leading tech and revolutionary features.

Will it have distance wireless charging?

Nope. Pad charging like Samsung has had for the last 3 years

An oled screen? Just like every android device for the last 6 or 7

Will it have under the glass Touch ID?

nope. Just like the s8 it will have some gimmicky face scanning feature

Is it going to unlock everyone I look at the phone? Even when I don’t actually want to unlock it? Or will I have to press a button to invoke the face scanning unlock?

Well, there’s no home button on the front so il have to faff around on the side or back of the phone to turn it on?

If I’m driving and I want to use hey Siri, sometimes it says “you will have to unlock your iPhone first”

Not a problem with the home button, I can find it easily by Touch and press it without looking at the phone.

Now il have to take my eyes off the road to look at my phone for 5 seconds while it tries to work out my face?

Everything just feels like a let down.

Touch ID works perfectly. I don’t care about a all in one screen. My iPhone 7 screen is fine.

Apple are just playing catch up with the rest of the pack.

Hardly worthy of a 10 year celebration of the original iPhone.

Hard life to be let down by something what doesn’t exist…
Just wait for the official release and chill. I’m sure apple won’t let us down…

There wont be any magic here. For the last x years, everything is out there before the keynote.

But everything has pretty much been leaked now. From features to body design. As it’s apparently in production, I don’t think Apple will be able to surprise us with anything. We don’t know about the intervals like cpu power etc but like most new iPhones, I’m guessing it will be “33% faster than last years model” which seems to be the norm.

I agree with some of those points, but you’re being a bit harsh on some.

Distance wireless charging? That would be cool, but yes I don’t think it’ll be in this year’s iPhone.

An OLED panel? Agreed; it does feel like catching up.

I think it’s safe to assume the phone won’t unlock without some prompt, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a button. Tap to wake was reportedly coming to the next iPhone, which would solve a few problems you raised. No need to mess around with buttons on the side or rear of the device.

There’s also no guarantee that you will need to look at the phone for it to unlock. I also highly doubt it will take anywhere near 5 seconds as you said.

As said, we might as well just wait and see. If you don’t like the new features, just go with the 7s.

Yeah but I’ve been waiting for a “new phone” since the iPhone 6. I have the s8 as well and my i7 and it’s great with all the fancy features but I prefer iOS.

The 7s will be a nice phone but like everyone else, the i8 will be sooo desirable.

Tap to wake sounds a good idea. I think the lg G5 had that.
