Looking for new apps and games this weekend? iDB has you covered. In the latest edition of our Apps of the Week roundup, we have some great selections such as an app for creating unique Instagram captions, a newsletter manager, and a sharp currency converter. And as always, we have two great new games for you to check out.

Captiona

Here is a kind of fun, interesting app. Captiona aims to remove the stress of having to come up with the perfect caption for your Instagram posts. Simply type in a keyword related to your photo, such as food, coffee or Coachella, and the app will return a list of caption ideas. It even has a keyboard extension so you can do this from directly within the Instagram app. Now not all of the captions are winners, and I’ve entered several keywords that returned 0 results, but the developer says these things are being updated daily. Captiona is available for free.

Kite

There are a number of awesome newsletters out there that are excellent sources of entertainment and information. The problem is they can easily get lost in your inbox, or worse, clog it up. That’s where Kite comes in. With Kite, the newsletters you choose won’t show up in your inbox. Instead, you can read what matters from within the app, on your own time. It also allows you to manage your existing subscriptions and discover newsletters from a curated list of over 400+ publishers. Kite is available for free.

Elk

Elk is a fast and simple currency conversion app for iPhone. I know there are a ton of these on the App Store already, but this one seems worth checking out. It automatically detects where you are, and does away with cumbersome keypad entry by picking a suitable starting value and converting the next ten values to your local currency. Swipe left to increase these values, swipe right to decrease them. It’s fast, it’s clean, and it comes with an Apple Watch app. Elk is available for free (with some IAPs).

Footy Golf

Footy Golf is a wacky arcade game that combines street soccer with golf. Using your foot instead of a club, aim and free kick the ball through playful courses filled with lamp posts, trash cans, bouncy springs, fences and more. Complete each course by netting the ball in as few shots as possible. Features include 80 courses divided into 4 themes, 60 unique characters to collect, and unlockable balls and other content. Footy Golf is available for free.

Full of Stars

Full of Stars is a story-driven space journey game about humanity’s survival. When a galaxy-wide war destroys planet after planet, humanity finds itself on the brink of extinction. Scared refugees scatter across the stars looking for safety. Luckily, they find you – a daring space captain, willing to bring them to a safe haven. You’ll need to lead them through dark and unknown parts of the galaxy, remnants of long-dead galactic empires, and sectors overrun by alien life forms. Full of Stars is available for free (with some IAPs).
