A major milestone for the iOS 10 jailbreak is officially here; the highly popular Springtomize jailbreak tweak is now compatible with iOS 10 thanks to its latest release, which was a joint effort between iOS developers Filippo Bigarella and Janosch Hübner (sharedRoutine).

Springtomize 4 has been re-written from top to bottom with improvements to not only its design, but also to its set of features. In this piece, we’ll go over everything you can expect from Springtomize 4.

Springtomize has a solid reputation for being one of the most consistent all-in-one jailbreak tweaks in the Cydia store to date, and has earned its respect and seniority over similar tweaks that have been released in recent years. Springtomize 4 has more than 100 features baked into it, which is significantly more than any typical jailbreak tweak release.

Springtomize 4 is a testament to the tweak’s original mission statement: to give users a way to customize every aspect of their iPhone or iPad’s SpringBoard, from top to bottom.

A glimpse into the settings

Inside of the Springtomize 4 preferences pane, which gets added to the Settings app, users will find a bevy of familiar options to explore. The options are plentiful, and are divided into groups depending on what they modify:

At the top of the preferences pane is a killswitch for the Springtomize 4 as a whole, but right below that are all of the main preference panes. Because there are so many to discuss, we’ll outline them as quickly as possible for your convenience:

Animations, App Switcher, and Control Center

In these preference panes, you’ll find options for:

  • Animations: lock and scroll animation effects, animation speeds, and screenshot flash options
  • App Switcher: resize options, actions for the Home card, and hide or show things
  • Control Center: customize blur effect, disable Control Center, custom background color, and hide or show things

Dock, Folders, and Icons

In these preference panes, you’ll find options for:

  • Dock: hide the dock altogether, hide the background of the dock
  • Folders: nested folders, folder appearance and animations, folder gestures, hide and show things
  • Icons: sorting, label text effects, icon effects, prevent uninstall or move, sort, hide and show things

Lock screen and Notification Center

In these preference panes, you’ll find options for:

  • Lock screen: configure date and time style, choose label style, time color, hide and show things
  • Notification Center: disable Notification Center, choose background color, adjust blur, customize text, hide Today

Pages and Status Bar

In these preference panes, you’ll find options for:

  • Pages: disable Spotlight and search, Home screen behavior, hide and show things
  • Status Bar: customize carrier text, configure time format, hide and show things

For the most part, that wraps up the main configuration of Springtomize 4. A lot of the settings are going to be familiar to you if you’ve used a previous version of Springtomize before, but Filippo tells me there are some new animation effects and other options mixed into the tweak that weren’t there previously, so those are Easter Eggs you’ll find when you get the new Springtomize.

Springtomize 4 Profiles

One of the major points of focus of Springtomize 4 that wasn’t there previously is the addition of profiles, and yes, these are exactly what they sound like!

Profiles will let you save a snapshot of your Springtomize settings so you can apply them again at a later date with just a tap. This is a big win for themers, as it lets you have multiple profiles so that each group of settings can match a particular theme.

Even if you’re not a themer, you can make good use of the profiles feature. If you’re feeling a little adventurous one day and more minimalist another, profiles will let you make a profile for each scenario so you can move between each with a single tap.

For example, perhaps you will enable the more adventurous profile when you want to show someone why it’s cool to jailbreak your device and then go back to the minimalist settings when you’re done.

Obviously, your experience with profiles may vary, since everybody has their own definition of what makes a great jailbroken iPhone. For that reason, feel free to experiment with profiles until you get something you like.

What you need to know

Springtomize 4 is not a free upgrade from any previous versions of Springtomize, so here’s what you need to know about the pricing:

  • It will be a $3.99 purchase for the first week after launch
  • After the first week, Springtomize 4 will cost you $4.99
  • If you own a previous version of Springtomize, you can upgrade for the price of $1.99

As always, Springtomize 4 is being offered in Cydia’s BigBoss repository. If you want to save money, we suggest purchasing the tweak within the first week after launch to take advantage of the sale. If you own an earlier version, then you’ll save a good chunk off the retail price.

Springtomize 4 is intended only for iOS 10 devices. If you are using iOS 9 or earlier, check out Springotmize 3 or earlier instead.

    Q. Since Springtomize is easily one of the community’s most influential jailbreak tweaks of all time, will you be picking this release up? A. Does a one legged duck swim in circles?

    • The duck should over compensate and swim forward slowly . The beauty of Mother Nature Sir………lol I’m just a nature photographer but that’s my thoughts……………I miss my android ………

As an iphone 7 plus user on 10.2, every post just makes me more and more upset…This will be the first version of iOS that I will not be able to jailbreak since iOS 5.

    • Felipe Queiroz Drumond

Same problem here. I had been using jailbreak since iPhone 3G (whatever iOS it was), then iPhone 4, 5, 5s and 6s. I regret replacing my jailbroken 6s for a 7, which already came in ios 10.2.

You have to look at what is inside of the phone. Software doesn’t just play an affect on where or not a phone can be jailbroken. Hardware plays a major part in it as well. I’ve been jailbreakijg since greenpoison, red snow, and blackrain. Yes, it was a little easier to jailbreak those devices since the software AND hardware were easily crackable. Fast forward to today, and it’s a whole different ball game.

Not saying that you did not know this, but we may never see a jailbreak again. I just got the red 7 plus, and I’m fine with not having it jailbroken. I used to have a 6S Plus. I had that joker customized to the T.

Nope, not getting it this time around….. HideMeX seems to have everything i need, is frequently updated and came much earlier.
unless there’s something Springtomize have and HideMeX doesn’t, I see no reason to pay for this as well.

    • You should be able to tell from the preference pane screenshots in our article whether or not there are differences, but it sounds to me like your mind is made up.

      • Eyal Rotem

since i’m not lacking anything that’s probably true…
but sometimes you don’t know if you lack something 😛 ..
thanks for the great write-up btw.

      • I know the feeling, sometimes you never know if you’re lacking unless you actually have a problem to begin with. Fortunately, it sounds like you’re on the side with greener grass, so you don’t have anything to worry about with your current setup. And that’s good!

  • I’m so frustrated with the instability issues of yalu b3, I have seriously given up on having a decent jailbreak experience on this 7+. Been loyal since 2007 but now might be the time to explore other devices.

  • Rondog

NO MORE waiting for jailbreaks, I’ve given up on jailbreaks altogether. It seems like apple has finally won the war against jailbreaks, it’s a shame for I DO NOT LIKE my apple devices as they come stock and all the CRAP that they have upgraded into 10.3 etc, I never use at all, it’s all junk to me. I’ve started buying Samsung products which we can still root, and put to our own liking. Apple products as they come out of the box are crap.

    • Jason Coronado

Unfortunately, the Galaxy S5 ATT with Marshmallow cannot be rooted.

  • Danut Mihai Florian

Cool App, but there’s not a single tweak that i would actually use or need.

  • Diego Milano

So beyond the “Profiles,” what’s significantly new about Springtomize? I’ve been waiting for this tweak to be updated for more than a month and after that amount of time and seeing the result, I must say I am highly disappointed— don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a Springtomize user for years but I am not seeing any significant new feature here. Also, there’s the usual bug that’s affecting all other tweaks that customize the Control Center where hiding sections completely result in a completely blank section/placeholder— it is a shame.
I’m starting to consider checking other tweaks such as HideMeX (which I already purchased) and SpringPlus.

  • Steve Harold

I am so excited. I swear though if HideMeX gets Springtomize killed, I will stop jailbreaking. I wish the HideMeX developer would just stop.

  • Timothy

Is there a complete feature comparison between the latest versions of Springtomize and HideMeX anywhere? I’m using and happy with HideMeX right now, and they seem to mostly completely overlap. I’d just like to see what’s *different* about the two.

  • Greg

I have a problem. I used Yalu(obviously) for iOS 10.1.1 and I installed springtomize 4. So it crashed a few times then when I boot up the jailbreak instead of my lock screen it just shows the boot logo. Like I can use Siri and unlock my phone, but the screen just looks like the boot screen. It even turns off normally, and sleeps normally, I just can’t see anything. I can use my phone when it’s not jailbroken but whenever I launch Yalu this happens over and over again. Any1 got a fix?

  • Alex E.

I’m trying to install it but when I see the tweak page it still shows 4.99 even though I am using the same account I purchased a previous version with, I’ve emailed bigboss@thebigboss.org and springtomizeapp+cydia@gmail.com about it but I’ve not had any response, I just want to know if it shows 4.99 on the main tweak page but when I finalize my purchase it will show the 1.99 total

    Anyone have the same issue?
    Any pointers?
