Adding emojis sure is the best way to spice up your Instagram profile, comments, and photo descriptions. But what if you want to go back to simpler things, like adding line breaks?
Although Instagram doesn’t make it obvious, you can insert line breaks. You just have to know how to do it.
In this post, we show you two very basic tricks that will let you insert line breaks inside the Instagram app for your photo captions and comments, as well as for your profile bio.
How to add line breaks in Instagram bio, comment, or caption
Here are two easy ways to add line breaks on Instagram.
1. Use the Notes app
If you want to insert a line break in your Instagram profile bio, photo caption, or a comment, you will first have to type that text (line breaks included) in any text editor (I use the iOS Notes app) and then copy & paste that text into Instagram.
By copy-pasting the text, your line breaks will be preserved, and it will be visible to anyone visiting your profile, viewing your photo, or reading your comment.
Not a life-changing tip here, but definitely one that can help make your Instagram photo descriptions, comments, and bio stand out a little bit.
Note: By design, Instagram doesn’t add a lot of visible line break or space in the profile bio or comments. So, despite the line break being added successfully, you will see that the next sentence starts just below the first one in the next line. It looks ok. But, if you want to address this, simply add an emoji or dot (.) or small white/black square symbol.

2. Use this tip or a third-party iPhone keyboard
While writing your Instagram caption or comment, you will notice that the return key on your iOS keyboard is missing, and instead, it shows the # key. When you wish to start a new sentence after a line break, tap the 123 key to unveil the return key, which lets you add a line break.
Alternatively, you can also switch to a third-party keyboard like the excellent Microsoft SwiftKey that will always show the line break key.
If you desire, you can keep both your iPhone keyboard and SwiftKey added to your list of keyboards. While typing, you can easily switch between them by tapping or pressing the globe key.
