NerdWallet, Filtr, Hyper News and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps to check out this weekend

This week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup features some great selections, including a financial assistant, an email filtering client, and an app for watching news videos on-the-go. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out this weekend.

NerdWallet

I wanted to go outside the box a little bit this week with NerdWallet. We don’t typically cover these types of apps because, well, they can be kind of boring. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t useful. NerdWallet makes it easy to find the credit card that works best for you. Simply tell it what matters most to you—cash back, travel points, etc.—get your free credit score (quick, secure and doesn’t impact your credit), and let the app do the rest. It also lets you monitor your credit and offers tips to build your score. NerdWallet is available for free.

Filtr

Another cool app worth checking out is Filtr. Is email dominating your time and attention? Does the endless clutter of your inbox drive you crazy? Filtr can help. The app intelligently helps you sort through your messages so you know what you need to see immediately, what can wait until later, and what doesn’t need to be seen at all. Features include customizable batch actions, the ability to quickly unsubscribe from newsletters, and more. Filtr is available for free.

Hyper News

hyper

From the team that brought you Hyper, one of Apple’s ‘Best of 2016’ apps, comes Hyper News, an app that allows you to watch the latest news videos anywhere you are—even without Internet. Hyper news actually preloads fresh new videos every time you’re on Wi-Fi, so you can enjoy lightning-fast playback anytime you want. The content comes from popular sites from around the web, curated to help you stay up-to-date and informed. There’s no buffering, no loading and no ads. Check it out. Hyper News is available for free.

Conduct THIS!

train

Conduct THIS! is an addictive game of explosive railway action that will challenge your inner conductor. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is simple—race against time to bring passengers safely to their destination by commanding trains, switching tracks and avoiding collisions in increasingly challenging action-puzzles. Conduct THIS! is available for free (with IAPs for removing ads and unlocking content).

Smart Numbers
