Have a new iPhone 7 or 7 Plus? The first thing you’re going to want to do—unless you don’t care about scratches or abrasions—is find a case for it. And if you’re like me, you don’t want some big bulky case. You want something ultra-thin that won’t get in the way.

So we’ve put together a list of several great ultra-thin cases for both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. These obviously aren’t the only available cases for Apple’s new handsets, but we picked these specifically based on personal experience, user feedback, features and pricing.

Spigen Air Skin Case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

We are of course big Spigen fans here at iDB so we love their Air Skin Case for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. It features a hard polypropylene skin, that measures just 0.36mm thick, and a semi-transparent frost finish so you can still see the handset’s beautiful design. Covers all edges, with openings for the buttons, and comes in both clear and black colorways.

You can buy this Spigen Air Skin case for the iPhone 7 for $15.99 and for the iPhone 7 Plus for $14.99.

Spigen Thin Fit Hard Case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Spigen also has a thin hard case for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus called the Thin Fit. Made of a hard polycarbonate, it’s lightweight and has openings on the top, sides and bottom so it doesn’t obscure buttons or other features. This particular case comes in all 5 iPhone 7 colorways, including matte Black and Jet Black, so you can match it to your handset.

You can buy the Spigen Thin Fit case for iPhone 7 for $9.99 and for the iPhone 7 Plus for $10.99.

Spigen Liquid Crystal Clear Case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

I know, I know, another Spigen case. But one of the company’s strengths is getting quality products to market quickly. This is their Liquid Crystal case, and it measures just 1.3mm thin. It’s made of clear TPU, so it’s lightweight, flexible and extremely durable, and it has a raised lip for added screen protection. The buttons are covered, and an inner dot pattern prevents rear smudges.

You can buy this Liquid Crystal Clear case for iPhone 7 for $9.99 and for the iPhone 7 Plus for $11.99.

Totallee Scarf Case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Screen Shot 2016-09-30 at 5.31.59 PM

If you want super ultra-thin, go for the Scarf case from Totallee. It’s one of the least intrusive cases I’ve ever used—so much so that it almost feels more like a skin than a case. It’s made of durable polypropylene plastic and measures 0.02 inches thick. It’s semi-transparent so you can still see that great iPhone design, and it has this great anti-slip texture.

You can buy the Totallee Scarf case for iPhone 7 for $14.99 and for the iPhone 7 Plus for $14.99.

Update: since the original post date, I have begun using a Scarf on my personal iPhone 7 Plus, and I have to say I really like it. You can barely tell the case is there, it looks sharp, and really does add a bit of grip. I posted a [terrible] photo here.

Caudabe Veil XT Ultra Thin Case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Screen Shot 2016-09-30 at 5.58.00 PM

The Caudabe Veil was recommended to us by a reader, and after a bit of research, it looks like a solid option. The ultra thin case features a ridge around the camera cutout to protect the protruding lens, a micro-etched matte surface for a beautiful finish and excellent grip, and of course a super slim 0.35mm profile. Available in multiple colorways.

You can buy the Caudabe Veil XT case for the iPhone 7 for $19.95 and for the iPhone 7 Plus for $20.95.

Shumuri Slim Extra Case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Screen Shot 2016-09-30 at 7.18.46 PM

This one was also referred to us by a reader. The Shumuri Slim Extra for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus checks off all the boxes you could want in an ultra-slim case: 0.35mm profile, improved grip and a protective lip for the camera. Where the Shumuri differs a little bit is in its Travel Edition, which actually offers a cutout for quick access to the SIM card tray. This allows you to quickly swap SIMs while traveling.

You can buy the Shumuri Slim Extra case for iPhone 7 for $18.99 and for the iPhone 7 Plus for $19.99.

Peel Super Thin Case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Screen Shot 2016-09-30 at 7.35.52 PM

We didn’t include the Peel in the first publishing of this roundup because of poor shipping times, but it certainly belongs in the conversation. I haven’t tried it myself, so I don’t know how it compares to the Scarf and other similar cases, but it has the same 0.35mm thinness mark and looks sharp in the product photos. It too offers a branding-free design, grippier texture, and comes in multiple colors.

You can buy the Peel Super Thin case for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus for $24.99.

Skinomi TechSkin Full Body Skin for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

If that’s still not thin enough, you can skip the case all together and opt for a full body skin—it’s a lot like a screen protector for the front and back of your iPhone. There are a lot of these out there, but we like the TechSkin for its availability, price, user reviews, and its Lifetime Replacement Warranty.

You can buy the TechSkin Full Body Skin for iPhone 7 for $9.95 and for the iPhone 7 Plus for $9.95.

I have the Spigen thin fit in jet black for my jet black 7. it’s a little slick, but it looks GREAT on the jet black phone.

    • Agneev Mukherjee

Ummm… does it fit the late but very great 6s?

      • nova voter

Don’t know. I’ll try it on my kid’s 6 when he gets home. 6S and 6 are externally identical, right?

      • Agneev Mukherjee

Yes, 6 and 6s are identical; Thank you for taking that initiative. 🙂 🙂

the answer is no. The front is fine and the side buttons are fine, but camera lens and flash moved. See attached pic.

      • Agneev Mukherjee

        Appreciate the photo.

      • nova voter

        no problem.

  • n0ahcruz3

Peel is also a good alternative

    • Ds

I would strongly suggest not ordering from Peel for awhile. I preordered a case for my 7+ on Sept 9th and have yet to receive it yet. I just got a email yesterday (after sending a few of my own to them) that a shipping label was created the 13th but still my case has yet to be sent out. I would try contacting them on Facebook to find out what is going on.. Turns out I’m blocked from commenting on their page.

      • Casey H.

I actually got my peel on time for my 7+. It shipped on Thursday and I got it yesterday. I am really happy with it so far, I’m sure you will like it when or if it actually comes. I’m sorry about your situation.

      • Ds

I used a Peel for my 6+ for a long time and loved it. Never had any issue with ordering from them before which is why I ordered one for my 7+. I’m just really disappointed this their lack of communication and what appears t be lack of effort to get everyone their product in a timely manner. I understand things get back ordered and lots of orders are hard to keep track of. Maybe mine just happened to fall between the crack.

  • Cones1r

This is the one!!! I had one on my 6Plus and never had a problem. Now I got one on my 7Plus. shumuri is a good option

    • Eoin

I’ve had a few of those – pretty good, but they warp after a few months; their customer service is great, as they always replace it for free.
I’ve found that Caudabe’s cases are almost as thin but way more durable – plus the colours are really nice!

  • Jayasri Magesh

your thin cases are really super and it is really awesome and thus your explanations and pictorial representations of each phone are really awesome.

  • Jake Platt

The thinnest and best looking case I have ever used is by a brand called Caudabe. Beautiful cases.

  • Michael

why there’s no shumuri in the list?

  • nova voter

just checked out the caudabe and shmuri. they look right up my alley … and they appear to be identical (although I guess the shmuri travel black has a cutout for the sim tray).

    • Jake Platt

Yeah, that’s kind of why I’ve avoided Shmuri. I just don’t see a need for a sim cutout. For the very few times you’d pop the sim out, I’d rather take the case off and avoid having that extra cutout on the case.

      • nova voter

Yup, same here. I bought a Caudabe. Thanks for posting it up!

      • Jake Platt

        My pleasure sir

      • nova voter

this caudabe is the best case I’ve ever had. I’ve always liked thin cases — just to prevent scratches. this thing is great. fits like a glove with great texture.

        thanks again man. love it.

      • Jake Platt

No worries dude. Someone here mentioned the Caudabe cases do have a tendency to become a bit loose after a few months of use. If it does, contact the company and they will replace your case for free.

  • iXanczy

Dbrand have some really nice designs aswell 😀

  • Bacillus

Just enlarged the holes with a scissor.
    Nothing special.

    • Agneev Mukherjee

      LOL, perfect DIY.

  • bobcats9498

Does anyone have the matte black iPhone 7 in a Shumuri clear case? If so, how does it look with the clear case? I have the Totallee black case now, but would like to have the back of the iPhone show through.

  • Agneev Mukherjee

The first thing you’re going to want to do—unless you don’t care about scratches or abrasions—is find a case for it.

There is a typo right there.
    It should be:

The first thing you’re going to want to do—unless you care about scratches or abrasions—is find a case for it.

    • Rook HD

The original sentence is correct. Learn more English LOL!!

      • Agneev Mukherjee

LOL, get a pair of glasses…
unless you don’t care about scratches or abrasions?

  • K3NSH1R0

I’ve got the Peel on my 7.
Shipping wasn’t too bad it took around 6-7 working days to arrive (I’m in the UK) so I wouldn’t say their shipping is bad at all.
It came quicker than my Zagg which was coming from Ireland lol

  • Jamessmooth

What’s the best thin case to show off my jet black iPhone? Tried totallee and jet tech and am not happy with either. (Both cases are good, but don’t show off the back of the phone well).

    • K3NSH1R0

I think you need one that’s transparent to show off the jet black or go for a film protector that does front back and sides

  • Jay Dee

Just got the shipment notification for my iPhone 7 Plus in jet black today. The timing for this post couldn’t be better.

Anyone have suggestions for a case for the jet black that show the color of the phone without looking cheesy?

  • [RECON1]

    There’s also the Lunatik Air

  • James G

    Again, no mention of Peel?

  • I really want one of those cases for my iPhone 6s.

  • Mike M. Powell

I got the Royce Series Protections Case Slim from eBay only $10 n works great with a sick design. Only downfall is that it’s hard to toggle the mute button but I keep it on anyways n just turn down the volume lol

  • Jerry

The company peel are thieves they sell that case for 24$ when I got the same exact one for 8.99$ from the company TOZO

Don’t buy Shumuri if you have an iPhone 7; I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and they still haven’t shipped it. Tried to get costumer service to help but they basically lied about having it in stock, and then that they shipped it when they didn’t. Awful company.
