AirPods mockup 001

Another day, another iPhone 7 leak. A high-resolution photograph of an alleged iPhone 7 Plus packaging that surfaced this morning would have us believe that a 5.5-inch iPhone 7 model could ship with Apple’s new wireless earbuds in the box.

The info sticker on the back of supposed packaging shows the details for a 32-gigabyte handset model, suggesting the purchase is bundled with an “AirPods Wireless Earphones”. The purported photo was uploaded anonymously and sent to AppleInsider.

Here’s the claimed photograph.

iPhone 7 Plus packaging AirPods

Needless to say, such photos can be faked easily with basic Photoshop knowledge.

But if legitimate, the images “could indicate that Apple plans to expand its iPhone lineup this year to include different configurations with and without new wireless headphones,” as per Apple Insider.

AirPods should be true wireless in-ear headphones, meaning separate left and right earpieces with no wire between them. The “AirPods” moniker was recently discovered via a regulatory filing published by the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Coincidentally or not, Apple PR this morning prematurely leaked that “a selection of new Beats by Dre products will be unveiled” at the iPhone 7 event on September 7.

Although this photo differs from prior leaks that showed iPhone 7 boxes with “EarPods with Lightning Connector” inside, it’s possible that only the flagship 5.5-inch handset could ship with Bluetooth-based AirPods while the 4.7-inch models could come with a Lightning-enabled wired edition of existing EarPods (along with a “Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter” to help with the transition to a 3.55mm headphone jack-less future).

Is the photo legit? Meet us in comments!

I dunno. I think this might be legit.

    • Xee

      Would be awesome!

  • John

I tend to agree. I have a feeling these AirPods might be the real deal.

I wonder if they will have any fitness tracking like the Dash and Gear IonX do.

    • Julio Hernandez

I hope so! I’d love to have some airpods myself.

  • Elias Chao

Damn, those would be super easy to lose.

  • JulianZH

battery life and sound quality is all i care

    • ericesque

I care about fit more than anything. I can’t wear EarPod for more than 10 minutes without feeling like my ear canal has been reamed by a half-inch drill bit.

    • 5723alex .

Sound quality from an iPhone ? It’s not Flac, Ape.. you are listening to but crappy AAC…converted from mp3… with mediocre DAC hardware.

      • JulianZH

I don’t use the Apple Music app. I use the Chinese music with free download of all songs in different quality and formats. Ps: why you so angry, it’s the Internet calm down.

  • askep3

lol they’re gonna have to bundle these, if the iPhones like the rumors, with no good features other than an extra camera on the bigger model, they’re only taking AWAY the headphone jack. If it’s hey don’t have any features other than these airpods even that won’t be enough to have them sell good

  • MrTarek

Etisalat carrier in the UAE just leaked the prices!

  • JulianZH

lately this website becoming more and more lag and slow. any other apple news site recommendation?

    • Vince Reedy

9to5Mac is usually ahead as well as macrumors. Rarely is a story broke on this site but it does happen

      • Do they also report on the jb scene?

      • Vince Reedy

        9to5Mac does a bit.

  • pnh

These look like a major choking hazard for a toddler who happens to find them.

    • Julio Hernandez

Then keep out of reach of toddlers. Common sense really.

      • pnh

Really? Obviously you are childless. Go mock everyone who has commented on how easy these will be to lose. An intelligent child (which you are probably genetically incapable of having) will somehow find them.

      • Vince Reedy

A well behaved child will be corrected and leave them alone

      • pnh

        One old enough to understand.

      • Vince Reedy

So you put yours on the floor? Any surface 3′ or higher should solve your problem.

    • gary

As opposed to the current ones being just as much of a choking hazard?

      • pnh

Yes. Current ones have a wire to remove them.

  • Jerry

Least they can do to “wow” is this year

  • watsgongon

Sorry I don’t think it’s real – that text is very poorly typeset, hard to believe Apple would go to print with that

    • David

I would agree, that box print looks quite amateur.

  • Ryan841997

They could implement some sort of tracking feature like on find my iPhone, you could go to the app and press “find my airpods” or something similar. They could make a loud noise or vibrate so you can find them. That would fix the issue of losing them constantly

  • Guy

Your dreaming if you think this will happen. If your still awake go to sleep or take a nap. Either way sweet dreams.

  • besrate hogsa

iPhone 7 will not have wireless headphones

  • Melma

Im using my 6plus nd 6s nd planning to get the 7plus/pro…fake or not fake i would get it anyways
