How to install Pangu 1.1 on your jailbroken iOS 9.3.3 device

By , Aug 4, 2016

Home Screen Cydia Pangu

If you’re currently jailbroken on iOS 9.3.3, then we suggest you install the latest version of the English Pangu jailbreak app on your device, because Pangu says it can now embed the 1-year Beijing enterprise certificate that will keep your jailbreak valid until April 2017.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to install the new Pangu app and embed the 1-year Beijing enterprise certificate on your device. We promise, it’s not that difficult!

Update: iOS 9.3.4 was released this afternoon. You should probably stay very far away if you value your jailbreak.

How to install Pangu 1.1 on iOS 9.3.3

If you’re ready to have both the English Pangu app and the 1-year Beijing enterprise certificate on your device simultaneously, then this is a tutorial you should follow. This will work on Macs, Windows PCs, and even Linux boxes. We’ll outline the steps for you below:

1) Download the latest version of Cydia Impactor and the Pangu app from our downloads page.

2) Connect your (jailbroken or not) iOS device to your computer with an MFi-certified Lightning cable.

3) If you’re already jailbroken, then enter jiggle mode and delete the old Pangu or PP app from your Home screen, then reboot your device to enter what’s known as ‘no jailbreak mode.’

Note: you are doing this because you are going to re-side-load the updated Pangu app (v1.1). Don’t worry, Cydia and your tweaks will still be there. If you’re not already jailbroken, you can skip step 3 entirely.

4) Launch the Cydia Impactor app.

5) Go to your Downloads folder and find the IPA file you downloaded.

6) Drag the IPA file over the Cydia Impactor window.

7) You will now be asked to enter your Apple ID. We suggest using a burner Apple ID for security reasons. Click the blue OK button when you enter it.

Cydia Impactor Apple ID

8) Now enter the password for the Apple ID you entered, then click on the blue OK button:

Cydia Impactor Apple ID password

9) Cydia Impactor will now begin the side-loading process.

10) After it completes you’ll see the Pangu app on your Home screen. Launch the Settings app and go to General > Device Management.

Pangu Settings Device Management

11) You should see your Apple ID under the Developer App header, tap on it.

12) Now, tap on the blue Trust button by your Apple ID:

Trust Apple ID Pangu 2

13) A prompt will appear, so tap on the red Trust button.

14) Now that the developer certificate is trusted, you can go to your Home screen and launch the Pangu app.

Semi Untether Pangu Embedded Cert

15) When prompted to allow notifications, tap on the OK button.

16) Next, tap on the Use embedded certificate effective until April 2017 check mark to make sure it’s enabled, and then tap on the Start button.

17) When prompted, press the sleep button to lock your device. After a few seconds, you should see the following notifications on your Lock screen:

Pangu Jailbreak Lock Screen Notifications

18) Stay put, and your device should respring shortly. When it boots back up, you should be able to launch Cydia and access your jailbreak tweaks again.

19) To verify that you have the 1-year Beijing enterprise certificate, simply open the Settings app and navigate to General > Device Management, and it should be there.

Pangu Beijing 1 year certificate enterprise

Congratulations! You now have the 1-year enterprise certificate on your jailbroken iOS 9.3.3 device with the updated Pangu 1.1 app.

Wrapping up

Now that you have the 1-year Beijing enterprise certificate installed on your jailbroken iOS 9.3.3 device, you should, in theory, be able to keep using your jailbreak without having to side-load the Pangu app until April of 2017. This method is much more convenient than using just your Apple ID, which requires side-loading the Pangu app every 7 days.

Despite having already been revoked, the certificate should still work if you force-install it on your device.

If you’re still unclear on why one certificate is better than the other, then we suggest reading our article about the key differences. Keep in mind that you will still need to boot semi-untethered after this process, as this is not an untethered jailbreak.

    Hi,
I’m having this problem. Someone please help.

    • mahe

it says “the identity used to sign the executable is no longer valid”, did you enter a valid AppleID + the correct password?

      • Mehbub Haque

Yes i followed the instructions as mentioned and id+pass as well. But same thing always. More then 15 times i tried but reault same

      • sky_n3t

Did you try with the antivirus program disabled? Just for the jailbreak process, disable the antivirus program for the time being. Also, don’t use your Apple ID that you use for your real account. Make a burner account as it was suggested by Pangu team themselves. Last but not least, delete anything in regards to the pp/pangu tools that you have been using. Then clean your computer cache with ccleaner. After that, go the downloads section on this current webpage as the link was provided by Mr. Anthony Bouchard. Follow his instructions as provided but don’t delete anything off your device. Keep what you currently have on your idevice but follow the instructions by Mr. Anthony Bouchard. I’ve already done this twice on two separate idevices. Never had a problem or encountred any problems.

      • Mehbub Haque

        Thanks.
Let’s see; hope for the best. appreciate your help.

      • 5kyn3t

        Did it work?

      • 5kyn3t

        How did it go?

      • Willy Ale

It work like a charm 🙂
        Follow the steps

      • 34rth1in9

        Excellent!

  • AngryDingo

Whew. Followed the instructions but it took 5 or 6 attempts before the jailbreak succeeded.

    • Mehbub Haque

I think more then 15 times i did the same but result same

    • Thomas Gehman

Successfully installed the new one but now my device won’t get out of safe mode…. if I reboot it normally to unjailbreak it, its fine. But then I run the english Pangu app and it it resprings and goes to safe mode…..

      • Thomas Gehman

and the old blue PP app keeps showing up….would really not like to have to restore my phone, any help?

  • Tommy

i jailbroke right when the first one came out, maybe 4-5 hours after release. Is it really necessary for me to do this? i have the original PP app with the pangu app.

    • Ds

honestly?.. no it’s not. Only reasons to do it this way is to remove the PPhelper app and to make the jailbreak app in English.

    • sky_n3t

Why wouldn’t you want to update?

  • Ds

Worked pretty well. Only thing I had to do was create a “App specific password” when logging into my iTunes account since I didn’t use a burn account.

    • mahe

that’s the best you can do, afterwards you can revoke the created password and are secure.

But I think you need 2FA activated to be able to create an app specific password.

  • xmassacrex

If you are already jailbroken from the initial Chinese app can you remove the Chinese one and install the English app and run that if the device reboots? Thanks

    • mahe

yes, I’ve booth (Chinese and English) on my 5s, this works too.

I would install the English one, reboot my phone, run the jailbreak as describe (with the checkbox checked), check if I have the 1y cert and then delete the Chinese app (or keep it, however you like).

So you’ve verified that it’s still working 😉

      • Rolf Bause

Will both apps then appear under this Beijing Hong Yuan Company? PP and Pangu?
Or so do speak, will both apps share this cert? In this case I will install both apps too 🙂

      • mahe

        yes

      • sky_n3t

Everybody who visits this webpage should most definitely follow what you are doing in regards to keeping the current pp/pangu tool and adding the new pangu 1.1.0 tool, go through the process as its laid out by Mr. Anthony Bouchard without deleting anything until the new pangu 1.1.0 is applied.

      • mahe

So you are on the safe side, yes

      • 34rth1in9

        Yes sir!

      • xmassacrex

Thanks for the reply. I have installed the English version of the app. I currently have the one year enterprise cert. So I’ll just wait until I need to reboot to use the English version to re jb. Thanks for the info

    error: zip.cpp:331

    • SkyChopper

The .ipa is incomplete. You have to re-download it again. The file size should be 21.18 MB

  • gariay

does this work with ipad pro now?

  • Gabriela Furlin

So this time there is no need to put the phone on the AIRPLANE mode with the Wifi off? Or did you forget to tell that?

    • Roland G

you do not. Actually it will work better if you do not have phone in airplane mode

  • Gabriela Furlin

I`m doing this again for 2 reasons:
1- My tweaks woke up today not working anymore! And I can no longer see them on my SETTINGS neither. Even if the Cydia opens up and install and delete tweaks normally. (WHYYYYYYYYY IS THAAAAAAAAT??)

2- Even if I already have the Beijing… My Pangu is still in Chinese and I cannot read anything from that app. I`m afraid about when it comes the time that I will turn off the phone and have to reset the jail in Chinese. If the app changes the distribution of texts, I will no longer know where to click.

    • Roland G

just run the jailbreak app again. your phone most likely rebooted,

      • Gabriela Furlin

I tought that when it rebooted the cydia would no longer open, nor install tweaks… thats why I found that really strange,,, Anyway… I did it all over again from the computer with the 1.1 version, so I cant tell you anymore if I would have pressed the jailbreak buttom again from that chinese app it would work out or not. This is the most stable and fast jailbreak EVER!!! Its a dream not to restore the phone and wait for the backup restoring (it took years for my backup to be restored!). Even if thats not untethered… this is the most stable ever.

  • Roland G

worked like a charm . Thank You guys

  • Gabriela Furlin

Ok. Thank you very much. It worked great on both iPhone 6S and iPad Air 2. The only thing I did beyond the tutorial was to turn off the code and FindMyiPhone. It was really fast and smoth.

    • Gabriela Furlin

and also to trust the Beijing certificate in the end again.

  • Truth tho

How come after i finish jailbreak? and i’ve done it on two phones after i tried upgrading i no longer have the beijing certificate?!

    • Truth tho

like i followed this process bit by bit but even after reboot after jailbreaking and clicking embedded certificate it still shows as my apple ID?

      • Rolf Bause

Did you enable the little checkbox below in pangu?

      • Truth tho

Yes sir! I even tried doing it over again and it gave me the 1 week certificate.

      • Rolf Bause

Mhh, did you try to wait about 15secs until you locked your device?.. And nothing new to trust in the settings really?

      • Truth tho

I locked the device when I was prompted to do so bud…

      • 5kyn3t

        Did you try to rejailbreak?

      • Truth tho

Yes really lol why would I lie

      • Rolf Bause

Then you probably have to shift restore to 9.3.3 again, for as long as you still can.

      • Truth tho

I tried it on two phones one which was my cousins which wasn’t jail broken and one which was which was mine… I just used the first way of force installing the 1 year beta

      • Rolf Bause

And it didn’t work on any of them?

      • Rolf Bause

Try to back up your data with iTunes then. Shift + Restore to the 9.3.3 FW (you’ve downloaded before). Then restore your data back. And finally go again with the JB.

  • Matrixnubee

After following these steps I checked the certificate and it shows the Apple ID not the Beijing certificate. Anyone else notice this? Did I skip a step?

    • Matrixnubee

Update: I may have forgotten to click the “use Beijing Certificate”…. Oops. I’ll wait a week and rejailbreak and make sure I don’t skip that step!

      • Truth tho

        Doesn’t work I tried

      • Matrixnubee

So is the year long certificate not working for anyone? Or only some getting this bug?

      • 5kyn3t

It worked for me on two idevices.

      • aw81

I did the same thing, missed the checkbox part and now I can’t get that back again either.
I guess well have to wait a week now…

      • 5kyn3t

Reboot your iPhone to get back to stock iOS then redo the steps to add pangu 1.1.0 to your iPhone with Cydia impactor.

      • aw81

Yeah, I realised I got the ipa’s on my desktop mixed up, thats what was causing my issue lol
        Will try again later.
Also, well done for helping so many people in the comments!

      • 5kyn3t

Thank you very much for the compliment! That’s very nice of you to notice but if you would like to show your appreciation, direct the appreciation to the Pangu team. Without them, we would still be jailed by big brothers walled garden of evil

      • aw81

Very true, I do appreciate the pangu team!
I thought we were pretty much finished when the dev team/evaders stopped releasing jailbreaks.
Glad theres still enough talented people around to help such a big community!

      • 34rth1in9

Yeah no doubt! I just wish I could find a way to donate to Pangu for their efforts. They deserve to be rewarded in my opinion.

Just to recap, did you try the jailbreak again?

      • aw81

I never understood why the various dev teams seem to be averse to accepting donations, Some did if I recall but most just refused?
Not yet, will try later on, Im sure it will work as I had simply mixed up the 1.1 ipa with the 1.0 one -_-

      • 34rth1in9

Did you at least update to 9.3.3? I have been reading that Apple will be closing the window 9.3.3 being signed. Just letting you know.

      • aw81

Yes, got both my iPhone and iPad updated, the iPhone is jailbroken, I’m just doing this to get the one year cert for conveniences sake.
If it didn’t work I could live without it and use impactor once a week anyway as it would encourage me to back up while its plugged in.
Ipad hasnt fared so well though, cydia crashes on launch.
Ill probably restore 9.3.3 and try again later.

      • 34rth1in9

Excellent to hear! I’m not too sure about the iPad iterations for this jailbreak. I don’t have an iPad so I can’t comment on how the process would work on that spectrum. I do know that as long as you have the latest fw update from Apple, you’re golden.

      • aw81

Im hoping it was just a glitch, I always get my firmware from the idb download page so I should be up to date.
I had to shift click restore (option restore in my case) so maybe it was that but who knows.
I don’t need a jb on the iPad as bad as I do the iPhone so not stressed if it fails again.
Wow, I hadn’t heard of stagefright but you’re right, it doesnt sound good!

      • 34rth1in9

Have you heard about the iOS version of the “stagefright” vulnerability? It’s truly frightening. That’s why I updated to 9.3.3 from 9.0.2 and 9.1.

  • droid3000

so us this mandatory to do if im already jailbroken? can i follow this process to jailbreak another device?

    • sky_n3t

No I wouldn’t think it’s mandatory but it’s the newest version of the jailbreak tool from the developers themselves that can be trusted. Any previous method and jailbreak tools, the Pangu team had to work with other entities. Pangu 1.1.0 is a standalone app by Pangu themselves. I was already jailbroken before I attempted to use the 1.1.0 version in 9.3.3 and all it did was add the year long cert and switched the jailbreak tool to from pp/pangu to just pangu. I trust pangu more than pp/pangu. It didn’t change anything in regards to the jailbreak itself.

      • droid3000

Can I use this same process to jailbreak a phone?

  • Danh Anh Tuấn

    Dear iDB team,
My 6s+ is currently on 9.3.2 with Pangu JB Chinese version. I had used pphelper version 5.0.3.1154 and it did not asked for my Apple ID (instead there was a captcha) and I got the “1-year Beijing enterprise certificate”.
So should I follow these steps to get Pangu 1.1? Or just stay as it is right now

    • 5kyn3t

I would update to Pangu 1.1.0. I would also update to 9.3.3. Just make sure to check if 9.3.3 is still being signed. There is a link to a website that will tell you if it’s still being signed or if it’s too late.

  • Leo Asedillo

after pangu installed it straight away said Jailbreak Succeeded but still the certificate is on my id.

i don’t have the chance to do this step:

    16) Next, tap on the Use embedded certificate effective until April 2017 check mark to make sure it’s enabled, and then tap on the Start button.

    Any help? Please

    • Ryan

I had the same problem, it looks like its already check marked but you need to click on it, the check mark will turn white then you will have the right one.

    • sky_n3t

Do the Cydia impactor process again on your computer and readd the jailbreak tool.

      • Leo Asedillo

I repeat the process 4 times but same result so i just delete pangu and leave my iphone 6s+ jailbroken with the old pphelper. As long as no issues on the certificate i think my jailbreak is still safe.

      • 5kyn3t

If you reboot your 6s+, you will have to relaunch the pangu 1.1.0 app to boot it back into the jailbroken state. Other wise it will be just stock 9.3.3.

      • 5kyn3t

Did you try to jailbreak again with the Pangu 1.1.0? I can redirect you to the specific link if you need help. Please let me know.

  • Vincent Ho

I lost my jailbreak trying to do this. The ipa does not work.

    • Cedric Sebastiani

like me . ipa doesnt want to copy on cydia impactor after erase the old pangu app on the iphone

      • Vincent Ho

Yes. I restored to 9.3.3. Wait for next JB version.

      • Cedric Sebastiani

its 9.3.4 now we are fuc…

      • sky_n3t

Why would you delete the pp/pangu app first? Why wouldn’t you try to add the pangu version 1.1.0 without deleting anything? I didn’t delete the pp/pangu jailbreak tool when I added the pangu 1.1.0 and everything went as described by Mr. Anthony Bouchard.

    • sky_n3t

The ipa does work from the links provided by this website. Follow the instructions and you will succeed. I followed the instructions, except the part about deleting the pp jailbreak tool that was already used to jailbreak 9.3.3 previously.

      • Y2J

No actually he is not the only one having this issue. I have seen other commentors, myself included, are also having an issue with the IPA.

      • 5kyn3t

Did you download the ipa from the link provided by Mr. Anthony Bouchard from the downloads section of idownloadblog?

      • Y2J

I figured out the issue (at least for me). For some reason my computer “completed” the download but when I looked at the file size it was like 1MB. So I had to redownload it and it worked. I ended up having a whole other mess of issues (couldn’t get out of safe mode even after I uninstalled every tweak) so I just restored it :/

      • 5kyn3t
      • Y2J

They’re still signing 9.3.2 and 9.3.3! I haven’t rejailbroken yet because I’m still having issues with my phone right now. For some reason my phone app just never wants to open

      • 34rth1in9

        What issues are you having?

      • Y2J

As of right now just my phone app crashes 4-10 times before it stays open

  • redjazon

Can anyone help me what to do next? Got a notification on homescreen and it’s an update for cydia but no idea what to do I dont want to make a mistake. Lol
    Thanks

    • sky_n3t

Any updates would be through Cydia itself.

      • redjazon

So I shud just ignore it? Isn’t there a Pangu update supposed to be out?!

      • sky_n3t

Yes, Pangu version 1.1.0 is the most current I believe. Go to the link provided by Mr. Anthony Bouchard on this webpage. But remember NOT to delete anything on your idevice, even if it tells you to in the instructions. It will still work with the previous cert installed and the old pp/pangu app on your idevice.

      • Gavin

I used a burner account at the Cydia Impactor step, so can I sign into my real Apple account once I have jailbroken my device?

      • 5kyn3t

Yes, after you have jailbroken your idevice.

  • linkincyde

How about after April 2017, we’ll just use “Developer App Certificate” which we should “side-load” every after 7 days?

    • 5kyn3t

Hopefully by then, iOS 10 will have a jailbreak tool available.

  • Rick Hart

Think I’ll stick to 9.0.2 untether until iOS 10 JB

    • 34rth1in9

You’re not on high alert about the iOS version of the stagefright vulnerability?

  • Jose Santos

Ok so I deleted old pangu app, rebooted, and I cant drag the ipa into impactor. WTF

    • 5kyn3t

Did you download the files from the downloads section on idb?

      • Jose Santos

Yeah it’s all good now. Redownloaded the ipa and I’m good now.

      • 34rth1in9

        Awesome!

  • The Zlatan

I get the error of unable to unzip the ipa file. Im on a Mac if it makes any difference. Anybody know why that happens?

    • Y2J

Getting the same error on windows. 9.3.3 6s+

      • Christo von Wrex

Same advice I gave The Zlatan, only it’s a bit more complex. You’d want to verify the hash, but Windows doesn’t have a built-in tool for that. You can download a free tool from Microsoft, but I don’t recall what it’s called off-hand. Google “microsoft md5” and it should be pretty obvious.

    • Christo von Wrex

Since you’re on a Mac, run md5 and verify the hash. I had the same problem and it turned out the download was corrupt. Re-downloaded it, verified the MD5, and I was good to go!

  • Y2J

9.3.2 and 9.3.3 are still being signed so, no, you are not “fuccked”

  • Willy Ale

I like you website mate! You are the MOST trusted writer of the community – Thank you very much!

  • Chris Ryan

this was incredibly smooth…after all the noise about the jailbreak when it first launched i was going to pass on it, but i decided to try it last night and it went perfectly, and 9.3.3 is noticeably smoother then 9.02…so glad i did this now 🙂

  • Gnargusto

Phone died now I can not verify my pangu certificate. What do I do now to get this verified again? Redo the jailbreak process again?

  • Liran Belzer

Is it safe to use jailbreakme9 or onlinejailbreak instead of connecting to a computer and so on?!?

  • Will C

Im not getting those notifications any help?

    • Christo von Wrex

Did you allow notifications when it first asked? If not, go into settings and allow notifications for Pangu.

  • Kevin ;-P

Hi there, my one followed all instructions and final step was click OK in pangs app and didn’t come up with cydia after respring…but in the pangs app said “jailbreak succeeded” I’ve tried to re-install and reset my device more than 10 times but it still can’t bring my cydia back, anyone the same?

  • Josh Evans

    Does this still work?

  • Adrian

    So no more Safari tool??!!

  • Adrian

If not yet jailbroken, do I worry about this Cydia impactor process BS??

  • paul compton

    What’s a burner apple I’d?

  • Feivl

Worked perfectly fine just now. Thanks a lot.

  • truth

i see v1.1.1 for mac has been linked on the downloads page.

but the tutorial on how to JB page still goes back to the pre-embedded 1yr certificate JB

was wonderin if the install process for it was the same as outlined here

  • Fatejester

Just to be clear. I restored my phone to stock. Then did the pangu English jailbreak. Then restored my iPhone backup. Is that the right way?

  • TonyVee73

I’ve followed the directions but when when I get to step 19, it stated that the Pangu app is “Not Verified” and no matter how many times I hit “Verify App”, it does not verify. Anyone having the same issue?

    • Christo von Wrex

Yes! I commented on another article, but I have the same issue… I deleted Pangu and re-jailbroke without selecting the April 2017 option. So I’ll have to re-jailbreak weekly, but it’s not difficult or timely 🙂

      • TonyVee73

Ok. Thank you. So, after the week, do you have to rejailbreak even if you never had to restart your phone?

      • Christo von Wrex

Don’t quote me boy (I ain’t said shi-

      • TonyVee73

Cool. Thanks!!! I guess I’ll see in a week. LOL

  • joshua henry

    please help

  • scythe dark

i tried until step 17 i didn’t see any of notifications and it didn’t see cydia pls help how i fix it
