iPhone 7 dual sim Weibo leak 001

Apple’s next-generation handset may include dual-SIM trays allowing it to be used with multiple carriers more easily, if photos of alleged iPhone 7 components posted on Chinese microblogging service Weibo are anything to go by.

The ability to use two SIM cards at the same time, a first for iPhone, would let users send and receive cellular phone calls and text messages from two phone numbers, via two carriers. The iPhone 7 may also keep the headphone jack and include a 256-gigabyte model, a leakster said.

Photo below: other claimed iPhone 7 components, including the 4.7-inch iPhone 7’s Lightning cable assembly which still has a headphone jack attached to it. Prior rumors indicated that Apple would be ditching more than a century-old analog audio jack in favor of wired Lightning headphones and Bluetooth.

Other parts seen on the photos include some display panels in 4.7 and 5.5-inch sizes, 256GB SanDisk memory chips and a dual-lens camera module that should be headed to the flagship 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus model.

These photos were obtained from Chinese smartphone repair shop, Rock Fix .

“The shop owner also told us that there will be some changes to the antenna design, though he clarified that this won’t get rid of those antenna bands on the back of the phone,” reads the article.

What do you guys make of this?

Low quality photos. Watermarks everywhere. Chinese. Seems legit.

  • Newgunnerr

So now all of the sudden the antenna bands are staying like they are and the headphone jack also stays? Yeah not legit, the source is a chinese repair shop lol, maybe note that this isn’t the best source iDB?

we saw first iphone 6 cases from photos taken in bathroom, everyone laughed in that time, but when the 6 come out, it was exactly how it was on that photos… just saying

I agree not ligit. The part that screams fake to me is two sim card slots. Apple wants to use there sim, and do away with the carries sim.

At this point its getting ridiculous. Every other week its a different story, picture, leaked spec, or rumor from insider. Lets just say this together “No one knows”.

    • Bill

I’m not sure what you mean by “cheapen this whole thing”…? They’re rumors, dude. Sometimes they’re right, sometimes they’re not. That’s just how rumors works. 🙂

  • Jamessmooth

I believe these are legit too. Shouldn’t the design be final at this point?

  • It really wouldn’t make much sense to see drastic changes made to this device knowing very well that next year’s will have a brand new screen. They are better off running out their supply of headphone jacks and other materials this year. For a company that talks about recycling and bettering the enviroment that seems to be more or less the case with the latest information put out there. No dual camera, headphone jack stays, no new screen and they just added dual sim, bumped up to 256gb storage and new color way (blue)… now change up the camera specs a little bit as usual and that’s basically the iphone 7. Drastic changes will occur next year with the anniversary edition of the iphone. New screen, no headphone jack, dual cameras, no home button, curved edge to edge, possible additional speakers for better audio clarity, blah blah blah.. To me it looks like 2 phones are being leaked at the same time and this is due to next year’s phone being an historic time peroid device for the company along with the fact that they can now change the screen after all this time. iPhone 7 seems like 6s’s rather then a brand new amazing device with a new design. It’s just one more step towards next year’s new design. Wouldn’t shock me if IOS 11 was completely rewritten with a brand new design to go along with the phone.

True, I believe I agree. Who knows, maybe they’ll call it iPhone 6SE. 🙂

  • The King

Kind of shocked that the iPhone hasn’t seen that much leaks this year compared to other years. This year seems all but quiet.

  • Abhijeet Gupta

Dual Sim option, things just got bit interesting

  • Burge

    If true Apple’s lawyers in 3 2 1.

  • rockdude094

Why have duel sims when you can just have two iPhones?

  • n0ahcruz3

No way they’re incorporating dual sim, this is probably a iPhone 7 chinese knockoff. Dual sim, dual lens etc too much changes it’s unapple like. But i could be wrong. Im not saying this is a bad thing tho it’s just too unrealistic.

    • Rowan09

True but making all they stock apps open to devs is also un-Apple like

  • Michael Zondag

    I miss Jeff…!! 🙁

    • Burge

      Jeff left awhile ago now

      • onesimpleclik

        Jeff left? 🙁

      • Chris

He moved to 9to5Mac awhile ago now, there was an entire article on iDB about it.

      • onesimpleclik

ah that sucks. i had no idea. been out of the loop for a while.

  • xoFoxtail

    Another day, another contradicting rumor.

  • SkyFall

So instead of adding a dual SIM why not ad a Micro SD slot? Like the Samsung G7 and HTC M10?

    • Himanshu Oberoi

The speed you get on non-SD device is much faster than SD devices.

      • SkyFall

Ahh i see. So it would take more time to load photos/song etc, right?

      • Himanshu Oberoi

Yes, The processing speed of opening and operation of apps will be slower.

  • Himanshu Oberoi

I don’t think this gonna happen in future. Not sure about Headphone jack but, definitely know apple won’t be implementing Dual Sim system into iPhone.

  • Riley Freeman

dual sim would make me happy as i just got a work cellphone but they give that shitty iphone 5c…well that or i take an android and id rather not do that

    • Himanshu Oberoi

Dual Sim is not a good idea. It creates signal disturbances, You end up with call drops.
