Lumi News, Snoosic, Email and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps to check out this weekend

Are you excited? You should be excited. One, it’s the weekend, and two, we’ve put together another great list of apps and games for you to check out. This week’s Apps of the Week roundup includes a news curation app, a sleep timer for audio apps, a new email client and two really great-looking games.

Lumi News

lumi news

Are you a news junkie wasting time scrolling through too many articles and videos every day? You may want to check out Lumi news. From the creators of music recommendation service last.fm, Lumi uses powerful data science to curate a personalized news magazine full of stories and clips just for you. The app sources both major publishers and indie blogs and covers a smart selection of every major topic. Sure, we’ve seen a number of news curation apps over the years, but we thought Lumi News has enough there to make it worth trying. This app is available for free.

Snoosic – Music Sleep Timer

snoosic

Like the title says, Snoosic is a sleep timer for audio on your iPhone. So you can be listening to music, a podcast or audiobook, in any app as you fall asleep, and Snoosic will pause it for you at a scheduled time and lock your device. The app features 4 one-tap timer options—5 min, 15 min, 30 min and 45 min—a 10-minute delay if you’re still awake, and a night theme to reduce eye strain. This app is available for $0.99.

Email – EasilyDo Mail

email

There are hundreds of third-party email clients in the App Store, but very few come along that are worth pointing out. This one is. It’s called simply Email, and it comes from the team behind the popular Easily Do Assistant. Notable features include super fast Gmail push, built-in one-touch Unsubscribe, package tracking and alerts, read receipt blocking, and much more. The UI is well-designed, and there are customizable swipe gestures. If you are even remotely interested in switching email clients, give this one a shot. This app is available for free.

INKS.

ink

From the makers of the critically-acclaimed Lumino City comes a new game called INKS. It’s described as “pinball for a new generation,” as it combines the skillful, tactical challenges of pinball, with the ability to create wondrous works of art as the ball smashes around the canvas. There are over 100 unique tables to play, and each canvas tells the story of your game, as colors burst across your screen like fireworks. This game is available for $1.99.

Hungry Shark World

hungry shark world

The stunning sequel to Ubisoft’s Hungry Shark Evolution is here! In Hungry Shark World, you play as a shark that rises through the ranks of the food chain to bite harder and swim faster. There are 17 shark species to choose from, 20 different mission types to master and hundreds of enemies to prey and consume. Hungry Shark World features console quality 3D graphics and supports Game Center, 3D touch and Apple Replay Kit. This game is available for free.
