A quick overview of nitoTV for Apple TV 4

nito TV home screen

Kevin Bradley just released an update to nitoTV a few hours ago, and we’ve already showed you guys how to install it once your Apple TV is jailbroken. Now Andrew took nitoTV for a quick spin and briefly walks you through some of the things you can install.

Kodi is probably the one package you’re most familiar with. Up until now, you could easily sideload Kodi on your Apple TV, but installing it via nitoTV is definitely an easier process. Also available via nitoTV are a custom YouTube browser called tuyu, emulators Mame and Provenance, a web browser, a Popcorn Time client, and a game of Pong.

More packages will become available as time goes, but this is already a pretty good start for this first installer for the new Apple TV.

Hey, not that I’m complaining, but this showed up inside the app. I would love to be able to see jailbreak posts in it but I know that you don’t want them to show up, so I thought I would notify you. I’m excited for this Apple TV jailbreak though!

Make Nito Tv installable through kodi somehow?

Please Help! I have an Apple TV 4 tvos 9.0.1 jailbroken and nitotv installed. I installed all the apps under featured packages, however none of the apps show on the home screen. They all show under installed packages (in nitotv) but there’s no option to launch them from there. Any idea how to fix this issue? Since I have appsync unified installed, I tried installing unsigned apps through ifunbox with no luck either. Appreciate all you input guys. Thanks!

did you restart the apple tv from the settings?

      • Chin

Yes, I did every possible trick to make it to work, but none worked so far. I’m encountering another issue though: The apps like PopcornTime, Kodi, etc I’ve sideloaded via Xcode with free dev account have expired after 7 days. I was going to resign them to get them running again, however the iTunes can’t seem to recognize my Apple TV. This is apparently a known issue that iTunes won’t detect a connected Apple TV 4 after a jailbreak. I’ve searched online only to find that everyone is having the same issue after a jailbreak and no fix has been shared so far. Others suggest to put the Apple TV on DFU mode (the only way to make iTunes recognize the device) however, I’m afraid I won’t be able to get out of DFU mode and be left with an only option to restore/update to an unjailbreakable tvOs. I’m not sure if I’d be able to sideload apps while the device is on DFU mode. I don’t want to take a chance as this Apple TV is running fine as is. Do you by any chance have any solution for this? Thanks!

iTunes detects my Apple TV but can’t do anything with it though. Just eject (after jailbreak and before I didn’t pay attention seems like same). Side loading expires anyway. I use apps from NitoTV to keep it permanent. Side loading is something I thought was going to be there after jailbreak but it isn’t. Only using NitoTV after jail breaking keeps its there.

nitoTV apps under “featured packages” are obsolete. Went into nitotv settings, I could only find to update the nitotv which is already the current version. Is there a way to update those apps? Thanks!

What apps are you wanting to update? You can try going into the NitoTV or contacting them to update such packages. But share what needs to be updated?
