tvOS App Store now lists four times more Apple TV apps in Top Paid, Free and Grossing categories

tvOS App Store Top Charts 200 apps

In addition to a dozen new categories, including Catalogs and Utilities, that have been added to the App Store on the fourth-generation Apple TV earlier this week, Apple has made another change to the store that should make app discovery easier.

As reported by German blog iTopnews.de, now each Top Charts section available on the tvOS App Store includes 200 apps instead of just 50 like before.

Though Apple is still figuring out how to best surface noteworthy and trending apps on the Apple TV’s App Store, this is a step in the right direction.

As a result of this change, four times more Apple TV apps can be promoted through the Top Charts section than before, meaning some of the apps that previously could not count on being ranked on Top Charts for discovery purposes now have a chance to be exposed there, in addition to being discoverable through the search feature and highlighted via the store’s category listings.

A few days ago, tvOS App Store gained a new ‘Not on This Apple TV’ sub-section in the Purchased section which makes it far easier than before to spot apps you already own that have added Apple TV support that you have not yet downloaded on your Apple TV.

The upcoming tvOS 9.2 software update expands Siri to the tvOS App Store so users can search the store with their voice. tvOS 9.2 will also include a Dictation feature for text fields and support for Bluetooth keyboards and app folders, among other things.

As of May 2014, Top Charts on the App Store on the iPhone and iPod touch is displaying half as much ranked apps as before, going from 300 apps listed across Paid, Free and Top Grossing categories on the iPhone to showing only 150 results.
