Ladies and gentlemen…Today I say goodbye to a place I have called my online home for quite a few years. It’s a bittersweet day. I’m moving on to another adventure, but I will always have fond memories of my time at iDB…

I’ve been writing online and in print since the mid-90’s, but thanks to iDB, I was really able to push the bounds of my creativity. A little over five years ago, I decided to “make a video demonstration” of a jailbreak tweak. It was extremely rudimentary, but from that point forward, things were different.

Of course, these days, video is pretty much a prerequisite to any online destination, but I’d like to think that we helped play at least a small role in pushing the envelope in that regard.

I’m not going to be overly dramatic with this goodbye. Instead, I’d like to say a few words, and a few thanks. Oh, and predictably, there’s a video as well…

First of all, I’d like to thank all of you for watching, reading, and listening over the years. As I stated on my final podcast, we’ve output a ton of content during my tenure at iDB. I’ve personally published over 2,500 videos, over 300 podcasts, nearly 4,000 blog posts, and a couple of books for good measure.

The numbers are measurable, but they mean little to me compared to the great interactions I’ve been able to share with readers. You guys make what we do possible, and we truly appreciate that. Sometimes we may get frustrated, or sound irritated in a post or on a video or podcast, but never forget that we love what we do, and it’s thanks to you that this is possible. Seriously, thank you!

I’d also like to thank the folks at iDB, past and present. People like Cody, Chris, Timothy, Jim, Anthony and various others over the years. This team has always been so fun to work with, which is a testament to its owner, Sebastien Page. Thanks, Sebastien, for giving me the opportunity to do something cool.

Andrew O’Hara has come on board to take over the reigns of the YouTube channel. He’s got lots of experience making videos, so rest assured that the channel will keep on chugging along like it has for the last 5 years.

I look forward to reading and watching all of the great content that will inevitably come from the pages of this blog.

It’s been fun. It’s been really fun.

Hey Jeff! It´s been fun following your videos and recommendations. I wish you the best and hope one day you get back to iDB. Thanks a lot!!

  • Mr_Coldharbour

Farewell Jeff, you’ll be sorely missed. Your input at IDB from posts, to those spot-on video tutorials, reviews and podcast participation were brilliant. Would’ve been great if you closed with one last SPIDER-JOKE for good measure, and for old-time sake!

“For the last time, this is Jeff with iDownloadblog!”

Jeff, iDB’s living icon says goodbye ?!? – That’s really bittersweet news !
Jeff, your charming, fresh and cheerful iDB video reviews explaining all those exciting tweaks have been kind of a ritual enjoyment so many of my evenings – for years. Change is (not always felt as) good. All the best for you – you REALLY made a huge difference !

Jeff, I only accept your goodbye if you tell me Apple hired you.
    IDB won’t be the same.
    Hope you come back.
I agree with someone’s comment that seems you are a friend, just because we watch your videos regularly. There’s something friendly and relaxing in your voice.
    Good luck.
    Greetings from Brazil.

I’ve found Jeff!! He’s gone to another Apple Site.. I just say “9to5Mac”. 🙂
    But iDB is best!!! :-)))

  • David Diaz Escandon

He’s going to 9to5, the good part is that I actually always check out both sides.
    Well done Jeff.
And will still checking both sides thanks to people like Anthony, Cody and Sebastien.

Goodbye to the Morgan Freeman of jailbreak community. I’ll forever hear your voice when reading about new tweaks and jailbreaks!

  • Davinci

You’ll be missed Jeff, iDB will never be the same 🙁 thanks for all and good luck!

  • mav3rick

Quite a fun journey. From reviewing couple $ tweaks which might not need now the reviewed thousand $ equipment. Jailbreak golden age is gone now and the golden voice of Jailbreak tweaks, too. New writer here is a worthy successor but tweaks will never get again the same exposure and excitement as from iconic videos “Hello ladies and gentlemen… I’m Jeff from iDB”. As Jailbreak might come to its end, time to move on. Only that iDB was used to be associated with Jailbreak and Jeff: articles, video channel, podcasts…

  • Aaron Hysell

Hate to see you go!! Stop back by from time to time! Take care buddy!

  • Andrew

I’m going to miss your wife’s hands the most.

  • NoOne

Enjoy you’re time’s at the FEMA camp, remember though this what YOU wanted when you vote for that colored usurper Owebummer and his commie socialist way’s!
