All those burritos, tacos, middle fingers and other emoji characters enabled by the iOS 9.1 software update are now available on SwiftKey’s keyboard for your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

The latest update to SwiftKey’s free of charge keyboard in the App Store essentially adds all of the new iOS 9.1 emoji, including the unicorn, many new facial expressions and gestures (yes, the middle finger, too) and a man in a business suit levitating.

Some of the other newly added emoji include:

  • Sports: hockey, volleyball and ping-pong
  • Foods: hot dog, taco and burrito
  • Animals: lion, turkey and crab
  • Mythical creatures: unicorn

All told, there are over 180 new emoji to enjoy in this SwiftKey update.

Emoji galore

That’s because SwiftKey recently joined the Unicode Consortium, the organization that makes decisions about which emoji come to your devices.

The arrival of full emoji support in the SwiftKey keyboard enhances the software’s already robust set of emoji features, such as a feature that predicts the emoji you’re most likely to use next and Emoji Insights, stats that tell you which emoji you use more than anyone else, to name a few.

Availability

SwiftKey requires an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with iOS 8.0 or later. The app is localized in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Does this mean that if I am on 8.4 that I’ll be able to use the new emojis?

    • Merman123

      No.

      • Joshfei

You seem knowledgable about these things. Is there anyway, if jailbroken on 8.4, to get the new emojis?

      • Fanboy 

There is a tweak you can install on jailbroken devices that gives you access to all the new emojis but you must be running iOS 9.0-9.0.2

      • Joshfei

Oh well, I guess that would not work for me. Thanks anyway.

      • DSN1138

what is that tweak called ?

I need SwiftKey to have the dictation button… then it’ll be my everyday driver. Until then, I stick with the stock keyboard.

I have the same issues going on here. Supposedly this was going to get fixed by iOS 9 and iphone 6s with 2gb ram. But noooo. It is still an issue for me. Swiftkey keeps crashing or not opening.

  • tenpoundmouse

They need to remove the SwiftKey logo from the keyboard (at least on skins payed for) then it’ll be my default keyboard.

I want to get new emojis on swift key for iOS 9.0.2. Is this possible through jailbreak? I know theres a bytafont mod but is this gonna work for swiftkey?

    • igobythisname

I’m a long time SwiftKey user.. I just installed the Emoji9+BytaFont workaround to get the new emojis on my iOS 9.0.2 6S+, they new emojis appear in the stock emoji keyboard but they’re not appearing in SwiftKey, I even deleted SwiftKey and re-installed it, rebooted also, still no new emojis in SwiftKey… 🙁

    • igobythisname

very strange because the new emojis appear using Gboard but not SwiftKey, grrrr!!!!

  • Christophe

They didn’t add all the new emojis. There are many flags missing

Sadly you have to update to 9.1 first…sighs this got me excited…

  • InfinitePlusOne

  • Martynet
