Apple and Yellow Pages have partnered to bring Apple Maps customers in Canada rich business data like address, phone numbers, URLs, category, hours of operations, photos, ratings, reviews and more.
“We are pleased to bring our YP.ca local business listings data to Apple Maps,” said Matthieu Houle, Vice-President, Digital Media of Yellow Pages, in a media release Monday. Apple’s Maps acknowledgements page now lists Yellow Pages as a data provider in Canada.
Business listing content from Yellow Pages is now available to iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch and Mac users in Canada. Local business contact information is being syndicating to Apple Maps through Yellow Pages’ flagship YP.ca digital platform.
Customers can now search, find, contact and navigate to over a million business locations in Canada using Apple Maps. As noted by iPhone in Canada, Apple also uses map and postal data from DMTI, which includes Canada Post data.
In addition, Apple Maps in Canada uses CanVec from the Department of Natural Resources Canada, plus other data from StatsCan.
Yellow Pages claims data on approximately 1.8 million businesses in Canada, with particular emphasis on the small business segment. Yellow Pages provides business listings data for Apple Maps in Turkey, too.
The company also has a free application in the Canadian App Store.
