Preparing FileSystem Cydia SPeed iPhone 6s

When you first launch Cydia after a successful jailbreak, you’re met with a message that says something like this: Preparing Filesystem. Cydia will exit when complete.

That’s a very familiar screen to us jailbreakers, and it’s something that we’ve grown accustomed to waiting on for extended periods of time…unless you own an iPhone 6s, that is.

Whereas older devices can take up to a couple of minutes to get through this part of the jailbreak journey, the iPhone 6s tears through it like a pack of ravenous wolves. Watch our video and see for yourself.

We always knew that the iPhone 6s was a specs beast, but as jailbreakers, this really makes the speed difference hit home.

What do you think about the speed of the iPhone 6s? Are you impressed?

  • Shadowelite123

    Oh Snap!

  • Johannes Mertens

It was also considerably faster on my 6. I think there is another reason for it.

@Jeff Maybe this is the first time you’ve jail broken before restoring the backup and not afterwards ? Preparing the file system is less work for Cydia on a freshly restored iOS

    • I always do fresh install jailbreaks, and it’s never been this fast for me.

      • Johannes Mertens

It also took only a second or two longer on my 6, so i think maybe Saurik optimized the process in general.

      • Levent Korkmaz

definetly faster on my 5 too.

      • Shingo

its so fast even i cant see the text on it ……….

      • JRDN

iOS 9 right? I got a 5 too and was curious to know

      • Levent Korkmaz

yeap ios 9 is running a little bit faster than ios8 on my iphone5 (cant wait for noslowanimation tweak)

      • Joshua Reynolds

        Noticeably faster on the 4S

      • Karim Farrag

it’s the same on my iphone 6 🙂 not only on 6s

      • redjazon

Hi, Jeff. Do u mind to check if iBlanks work. Thanks.
It works on 8.4 but dont want to upgrade if it doesnt work.
        Thanks

      • Dale

My iphone 5 did the same thing super fast! & tweak worked great. but my IPHONE 6S+ bricked after 1 tweak install. I am requesting a tweak install on your iphone 6S video……

      • Ryan Lam

Jeff I can’t get my virtual machine to recognize my phone via usb. I’ve looked everywhere for solutions and you seem to never have a problem. I get an error with the apple usb driver. Tried 3 different mac’s, reinstalled everything, no idea what’s going on.

      • I do too, and I found my 6 jailbroke it in almost the same time as in your video. Probably a delay of 3 seconds, and when it rebooted I thought something had gone wrong. the 6S has a blazing fast processor, but its not gonna be pushed to its limits when it runs Cydia for the first time 😛

      • Jayy

lol yeah it is really fast, when I first jailbroke my 6s+ and opened cydia I thought something went wrong lol

      • mav3rick

Cydia’s preparing filesystem differently on iOS9, no lengthy stashing.

      • Fanboy 

Resprings are also blazing quick. At first I thought my phone wasn’t actually respringing properly!

  • Brandon

everything now is fast fast fast, more fast, even faster, amazingly fast

    • besrate hogsa

people are obsessed with being fast, faster if it works that enough

      • dudeimmexican

Except when it comes to sex.

  • Mohammed Khaled

It was just as fast on my iphone 6 plus! i think ios 9 optimization have somthing to do with this!

  • Mohammed Khaled

My itunes is not able to show my iphone after using the jailbreak. it tells me to download latest itunes when i already have it installed. anyone help pls.

  • Mhamad J. Hajj Chehade

Why you don’t have the pangu app? Is it safe to delete it?

    • Mohammed Khaled

      yes

    • Mario Britten

Normally it should have deleted itself while Pangu was jaibreaking your device, but yes, you can delete it.

  • DopamineAddicted

    Sweet

  • William Melendez

Funny you mentioned that because I thought that set up didn’t exist anymore . Did it so fast that I didn’t realized it did it haha.

  • Chris

I kind of thought something was wrong when it resprung almost instantly.

    • Same here, I had a “oh great it messed up” moment lol

  • Waseem Mian

Anyone else with an iPhone 6S having problems using 3D Touch on Apple’s stock apps on the homescreen after jail breaking iOS 9? 3D Touch isn’t working on my Photos, Mail, App Store, iTunes and Maps app. Any info will help. Thanks!

    • None here at all on my 6S+

    • I am having the exact same issue!!!

    • Arturo Polanco

I have a iPhone 6s plus and I don’t have issues…. Maybe was a tweak that u downloaded…… I downloaded notate and works but some apps don’t open so I deleted notate and fix it… Always test ur apps and the iPhone after you download a tweak

  • Mr_Coldharbour

It could also be because Pangu’s jailbreak is better than that of TaiG’s in the sense that they did it right. For instance, I’m hearing people who already jailbroke iOS 9 on their iPhones 6 and older have been raving about how snappy the Instagram app is experiencing no lag whatsoever, and they already have a few tweaks installed. I for one remember Instagram to be EXTREMELY laggy just after a few minutes of use when I was on the TaiG iOS 8.4 jailbreak and 8.3 before that, yes on a fresh install jailbreak. Some said it was Substrate related. They seem to have done a good job.

  • nonchalont

Yeah it went fast on my 5s. Also, anyone having issues with notifications after updating? Under Settings, my apps are not showing under notifications.

  • YoImDumb

    Wow!

  • Phil Randle

As keen as I am to try the Jailbreak, 9.0.2 just wasn’t as smooth as id like on the 6S Plus, if they release a jailbreak for 9.1 I’ll jump onboard.

9.1 is running so well on my 6S Plus, don’t want to give that up.

  • FrankensteinBlack

Whats happened to all the state side jailbreak heroes? Is this foreshadowing? A dystopian future (or real one) in which the brain-trust shifts elsewhere? If this is the case I blame social media and all the mindless garbage attached to it!

Rather post youtube videos of shots to the nards instead of learning to code. Nuff said…

  • besrate hogsa

every jailbreak has always been fast on my iPhone 6 plus so i don’t buy that iphone 6s crap

    • Walter White

      go on,
make you self believe you don’t want the 6S.
      (it’s a beast, I’m telling you)

  • rockdude094

my 6 plus is so slow compared to the 6s no jokes

  • Tommy

Do you think they’ll release 9.1 soon? I don’t wanna jb 9 now and then have to redo it in a week

    • Vince Reedy

No guarantee 9.1 will even be jailbroken at this point.

  • JayDee917

You came to the wrong site…

    • VITICO

      LOL..

  • JayDee917

Anyone else unable to open cydia? I jailbroke my iPhone 6s Plus last night and everything was working fine, but now cydia won’t open, it crashes/closes as soon as I tap on it.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    • VITICO

It just worked fine for me.. no issues here.. i’m on an iphone 6 tho..

    • Loops

Having the same issue here… this sucks! i restored and jailbroke again, it did it again…

    • Arturo Polanco

it was a bad tweak that you downloaded, think which one or the recents you installed and then delete it.

how? u need to boot in safe mode ur iphone:
-Do a hardreset (pressing power button and hombre button) immediately it appears the apple logo (press the volume button up until you get the home screen…. and now u can open cydia an detele those tweaks and then restart

Sorry for my english im doing my best

  • Loops

@JeffBenjam:disqus Can you help me? I jailbroke my 6s lastnight, i installed a couple of tweaks… ifile, bloard, anchor, priority hub… and now cydia keeps crashing, it wont open,,, any idea how to fix it?

    Thanks!

    • Arturo Polanco

Boot in safe mode and then deleted bloard and anchor… They Works but something in the 6s make it crash..

Do like a hard reset but immediately you see the apple logo press the volumen button up until you get the home screen and now u can open cydia and delete those tweaks

Note: always test your iPhone after you downloaded a tweak….

Note: sorry for my English I’m just learning it

      • Loops

        Gracias Arturo… I’ll give that a shot!

      • Arturo Polanco

ok ok 😀 let me know if works for u

      • Loops

Well, I’ll be damned… It worked man! Thanks bro!

      • Arturo Polanco

thats great, i downloaded ”Medusa” its tweak that has ipad pro feature… it works fine but! some apps of photography that i use doesn’t open….. so i deleted Medusa and fix it….. maybe for bloard, anchor, and medusa we have to wait for an update for iphone 6s

  • mickey

I’d take the extra ram any day. It’s a world of difference on the plus

  • mickey

Of course it has the same capabilities. This applies back to iPhones and jailbreaks much farther than the 6. The lack of memory isn’t a huge problem but very apparent in the 6 plus. You’re telling me your safari pages don’t constantly refresh at the very least? Intensive games are definitely memory hungry for me and apps certainly don’t stay in the background as often as I’d like for multitasking. It’s certainly not a deal breaker but makes a significant difference in my personal every day usage.

    • besrate hogsa

      HEY FRIEND
iPhone 6 plus does everything you mentioned flawlessly

  • singhay559

Wow. That is amazing. Love the speed.

  • Joshua Reynolds

Preparing Filesystem is so much faster on my 4S so it isn’t just the new hardware.

  • Czwe03

After trying to update cydia I’m getting that preparing file system message and it doesn’t go away it’s been a day now I think it’s stuck someone please help!!!!

  • It’s fast partly due to the better processor, but mainly due to the early Cydia not properly stashing everything (this was fixed in 1.1.26). It was only stashing a quarter of the files it should have been moving during the Preparing Filesystem stage, so that’s why it only took a quarter of the time it should have.
