Burger – The Game lets you flip your way to chef stardom

Burger - The Game 1

The creator of such unique mobile games as Okay? and Sometimes You Die is back with another bite-size game that tends to turn one into an addicted maniac. Burger – The Game only requires you to tap the screen at the right time. But, this skills-based title isn’t as easy as it sounds. In fact, it would probably be easier to just make a burger in real life.

In the upper left corner of the screen sits a friendly cow. Well, half of the cow. When you tap the screen, a slice of the cow drops from above and lands on the frying pan below. Touch and hold your finger on the screen to raise the pan up so the patty doesn’t fly off. Tap the screen to flip the burger onto the bun to the right of the pan.

Burger - The Game 2

The goal is to get as many patties on the bun as possible. After the first one lands, the sandwich is made when one misses. So, you can miss 100 times, the first time. But, if you land a patty and miss the next one, game over.

We’re not just talking about burgers here, though. You can add lobsters. Rhinoceroses, and even an Easter Island Moai. Though, I can’t imagine a fried monolith would be very tasty. There are 30 different flippable foods to unlock. You collect points for every successful bun land and then purchase new foods with those points. There is even a vegetarian option for those who don’t want to imagine slices of cow falling onto their cooking implements.

Burger - The Game 3

The joy of the game is in its simplicity. It may seem like there is no real challenge, but timing is everything. I’m not totally sure, but I think different meats (or minerals) weigh different, too. It seems like I had to adjust my timing differently for cows versus lobsters.

This game is very similar to one of the developer’s other titles, Pancake – The Game. However, there is just enough unique in the mechanics to be interesting to fans of the breakfast-themed game.

Burger – The Game is free and advertisement supported. It is available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Download it in the App Store today.
