Apple today launched its Back to School Promotion, offering a free pair of Beats Solo2 Headphones for the purchase of a qualifying Mac. Starting July 23, and going through September 18, 2015, this promotion is available at US Apple retail stores and participating Apple Authorized Campus Stores.

Per the terms of the promotion, those eligible for this promotion include faculty, staff, students, and parents that are individual end users.

To qualify, individuals will have to buy an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or Mac Pro. Apple notes that Mac mini and refurbished machines are not eligible for this promotion.

Qualified education individuals who purchase one of these machines will receive an instant credit in the amount of $199.95 to be applied to the purchase of a pair of Beats Solo2 On-Ear Headphones or Beats Solo2 Wireless On-Ear Headphones.

Previous Back to School promotions included $100 gift cards ($50 for an iPhone purchase).

  • Would have been better if they gave us a $200 Apple Store gift card. I’m already going to save $250 or so on my new retina MacBook Pro which I’m going to get from BestBuy this weekend.

    • Om

How are you getting a $250 promotion? I’m thinking of buying one and I’d love to save a couple hundred dollars.

      • Blip dude

Possibly through their Black Friday in July deals (which my email box has been bombarded with), though I could be wrong.

  • Chindavon

Pretty good promo. The audiophile experts will have a field day with this one.

    • George

      Beats suck tho.

  • James G

Trying to push that beats brand pretty hard.

  • MaRz Franco

Yo I’m getting mine in the mail today. Bought it through the education page. Is there still a chance I can get the offer? I ordered a MacBook Pro 4days ago

    • Elias Chao

You can return it and then buy it again. It might work.

    • Chindavon

Maybe take it to the Apple Store and see if they will honor the promo if you haven’t opened it.

Serious question folks. I plan on buying a new macbook. Price doesnt matter. I will primarily use the laptop for watching youtube videos, typing documents, and listening to music. Plus i dont plan on getting a new macbook for years to come. Does anyone have experience with the “new macbook” and the macbook pro?

    • Mee

The new MacBook is nice but it is incredibly overpriced for what it is. It has a mobile processor so you’d probably be fine with an Air or a low-end Pro but the New MacBook is not something I’d recommend

      • Mee

I personally would want to just Max out the air if price wasn’t an issue

      • White Michael Jackson

Ok thanks. I was leaning on the Pro. I still have my white macbook from 2008. It is still running strong. Time for an upgrade though.

  • Chindavon

Nice. Good job. Pretty soon, you’re going to get a lot of expert advice here on how bad Beats suck.

    • Doesn’t matter if they suck, you never say no to free stuff…

      • Chindavon

Beats don’t suck. Especially the newer Studios.

      • No, they all basically suck. If you spend the money for the Studios, there are 10 other real headphone manufacturers that make actual legit ones.

      • Chindavon

I’ve had them for a few months. They definitely don’t suck. Haters got a hate though right, no matter what?

  • Andres

I have a question.. So I bought a MacBook Pro on July 1st. Do you think they would honor it and get me the headphones. I was told I could bring in the receipt but I don’t know how long after they would honor some thing like this. Bought it with the education pricing too

what a stupid idea on promotion, I have been stopping to buy directly from apple since they change discount to gc. bad move, apple.

  • Then take those Beats, sell them instantly, and get some real headphones! ha
