iPhone 6s rear housing Future Supplier 001

A batch of photos of a purported ‘iPhone 6s’ rear housing in gold, obtained by Future Supplier and reposted today by French blog NowhereElse.fr, serve as our best indication yet that Apple’s upcoming smartphone refresh will re-use the exterior design of the current-generation (shocker!).

More important than that, however, the photos suggest the upcoming handsets will introduce minuscule changes to the internal layout, with a source claiming a “stronger” Unibody construction and a change to the material’s feel.

The claimed golden shell shows little, if any, visual differences between the upcoming and current iPhone models in terms of the exterior. Taking a closer look at the internal layout, however, does reveal a few noteworthy differences.

The biggest change: screw holes.

The following image highlights the differences between the screw hole placement on the iPhone 6s, at left, versus the present-generation iPhone 6, at right.

The top hole for the screw holds the loudspeaker module and is “slightly higher” than iPhone 6 Plus’s but it’s unclear if this could be interpreted as a potential sign of a tweaked loudspeaker design from the iPhone 6 Plus.

Though gold coating is essentially unchanged from the iPhone 6 Plus, the shell of the current iPhone reportedly feels “smother” than the leaked part, as per Future Supplier’s source.

The rear iPhone 6s housing is described as “stronger” versus that of the current iPhone—another indication of a rumored switch to a chassis made from Series 7000 aluminum.

A custom alloy that Apple designed for the Apple Watch Sport, Series 7000 aluminum is sixty percent stronger than standard alloys but just as light, potentially making the upcoming iPhones more durable and less prone to bending under pressure than the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models.

As for the internal components, rumors have pointed to an updated Qualcomm baseband modem for up to twice as fast 4G LTE networking at 300Mbps, improved NFC, Force Touch input, a faster and more reliable Touch ID, an Apple-designed “A9” processor with 2GB of RAM and more.

The new iPhones are expected to launch in September as Apple’s suppliers have just started volume production of critical parts, with the firm’s contract manufacturers currently hiring tens of thousands of workers for iPhone assembly lines.

Awesome so you posted it once, I don’t want to see it again. Blog sites in general or maybe it’s the iPhone ones post every part humanly possible and it’s really not news. Especially when it’s an S model than has really no redesigns.

    • Merman123

Yes. You will find that iPhone blogs post a lot of iPhone stories. Somehow I get the impression that it shouldn’t be surprising….

      • Riley Freeman

not surprised about the iphone stories and not the issue i mentioned (not even remotely close). i said my issue is with them repeatedly posting articles and about parts. The chassis leaked, battery leaked, digitizer leaked etc… I know the iphone 6 was a huge launch but so many posts on the parts it was absurd

      • Then don’t read them… Speculating about what their next big feature is going to be is part of the fun!

      • Riley Freeman

feature has nothing to do with the chassis on the damn phone

      • The chassis showed us that the 6 was going to be a 4.7″ screen, the 6s shows force touch will be added seen as the chassis is slightly thicker than the 6. Developer’s use this to think about new features will work on current apps.

      • Riley Freeman

everyone knew the 6 was going to be bigger APPLE had no choice. They couldnt go another 2 phones with the same small phone.

      • Yes but it was a redesign chassis! You must understand that apple get a lot of sales on the LOOK of their devices! Its pretty simple mate, dont read the posts that don’t interest you!

      • Riley Freeman

jesus christ you guys dont understand. we dont need 20 posts for each part. I dont need to see the camera sensor and the chassis and the other side of the chassi and the different colours etcc. I dont want to see another supposed to leak from another source claiming to be the chassis. Its just posts for page hits honestly.

well all know s phones have minor changes and non s phones are the big ones.

  • Bass Head

    force touch?

  • Hmmmm

I was going to get the iPhone 6s because i had an iPhone 4 but I recently got my hands on an iPhone 5 for free and it’s fine so now I’m not sure if i should bother and just wait for iPhone 7

    • johnsm

      Who cares

      • Wilber Alexander Flores

        Lol but that’s mean 🙂

    • Wait for iPhone 8

    • JayDee917

Might as well wait for the iPhone 7s Plus 4K edition.

  • I found an issue in this paragraph “The following image highlights the differences between the screw hole placement on the iPhone 6s, at left, versus the present-generation iPhone 6, at right”

After a bit of research I see someone made a mistake. This part does not match the supposed 6s that leaked a few weeks ago. It seems as if the housings are for the Plus models. Including the one that is says present-gen, that is definitely a 6 Plus.

  • of course!

  • johnsm

Not “bendgate” like you drama queens like to say but a bending problem

    • n0ahcruz3

      Aww butt hurt much? Lol

      • Niclas

        Butt bent?

  • Anonomous.TECH.man

I really like my 6 plus but coming from a oneplus one the iPhone need that extra gig of ram my opo with 3 Gigs could have a billion tabs open.

  • Kominimatchen

    Samsung is da best

    • Minterzine

Only Apple and Samsung are the best. The others as HTC,Google Nexus etc… very bad.

      • Kominimatchen

Was just trolling.. Im a Apple PRO .. Not fan but Apple rocks My boat

  • Fardeen Beharry

here are my hopes and dreams for an iphone 6s
    usb 3.0 long overdue
a camera that does not protrude
    better battery life
    force touch, and haptic feedback
a better texture for the rear side for a good grip, iphone 6 was too slippery
    2gb ram
    1080p for both models
    a better build quality
32 gb storage space entry level. and 32gb free icloud storage

    • ClaudieX X

      …a better build quality… hahaaha…

    • Eliijah Moss

God gives you the world, then you ask for the entire galaxy? Jk. I know these are things that you would like to see, but do not expect most of them to come true. Who knows… Maybe they might.

Also, I’m in no way comparing God to Apple. Not in the slightest.

    • techfreak23

I agree with you on USB 3 and the protruding camera. I see the camera as a design flaw for those of us who don’t like to have case on our phones. Mine has gotten so beat up and scratched to the point where lens actually cracked. I feel like going into an Apple Store to try to argue that point so that they replace it for me for free. RIDICULOUS. Biggest mistake by Jony Ive. He should be the first one to want people to use it without a case and show off his otherwise beautiful design.

  • Would have rather seen the other side to see if those damn antenna lines are still there..

    • DevXav

If you take a closer look at the housing corners you can see the lines are still there…

  • hkgsulphate

    dat ugly antenna ;_;
